Abstract

Kata-kata kunci: kemandirian belajar, mahasiswa, pembelajaran ABSTRACT Students at the university have learning patterns that should be different from students at the school level. For this reason, learning independence needs to grow within students at the university in order to develop creative ideas without the full assistance of lecturers. Learning independence determines the media and instructional models that can be applied. For this reason, it is necessary to analyze the profile of students' learning independence in higher education as a basis for considering the use of certain instructional models or media. Data collection techniques used were questionnaires. The study was conducted at Campus E PGSD FIP UNJ during 2019. Data analysis techniques used simple descriptive statistics and qualitative analysis. The results of the study are in the form of learning independence that is owned by PGSD FIP UNJ students in 2017. Recommendations for future research require learning models that involve elements of technology in order to increase student learning independence through learning patterns that enable students in higher education. Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to design and develop a wordless picture book to improve the storytelling ability of level B kindergarten students. This research adopted the design and development model proposed by Lee and Owens (2004). Data collection techniques employed storytelling tests, open-ended questionnaire, interview, and observation. The needs analysis was conducted through a storytelling test. The expert judgment involved media experts, children literature experts, and early childhood instructional design experts to assess the prototype of Wordless Picture Book.  Storytelling test, observation, and interview were used in the try out process. Quantitative data were obtained from pretest and posttest scores and the questionnaire for expert validation. Descriptive qualitative data analysis techniques were used to process the data interviews. Quantitative data analysis was used to examine the scores obtained from the pre and post-tests. The research produced (1) a wordless picture book design and (b) a product of wordless picture book which has been tested for its effectiveness, efficiency, uses, and practicality in improving children’s storytelling ability. Some implications and recommendations are also discussed. Abstract

Students of Elementary School Teacher Education programs must be able to have higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) so that they can train students to have HOTS through learning activities created when they have become elementary school teachers. This study aims to explain students' high-level thinking skills in solving HOTS-oriented questions in Instructional Evaluation courses. This study uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques using cognitive test instruments in the form of descriptions. Data analysis techniques use simple descriptive statistics. The results showed the level of thinking ability of students in answering HOTS practice questions still needed improvement. Students who have high learning abilities are better at answering HOTS-oriented questions compared to students in the medium and low categories. Recommendations for future research are required learning modules that can facilitate learning activities that lead to HOTS so that students are skilled in answering and making HOTS-oriented practice questions for elementary school students when they become a teacher.
