Abstract

ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Daya tahan kardiorespirasi merupakan salah satu unsur penting dalam melakukan latihan fisik. Daya tahan kardiorespiratori dapat diketahui dengan mengukur konsumsi atau volume oksigen maksimal (ṼO2maks). Suplementasi buah dan sayur tertentu telah dibuktikan dapat berperan terhadap daya tahan atlet. Buah dan sayur diduga mempengaruhi daya tahan dengan menunda kelelahan disebabkan zat gizi yang terkandung seperti karbohidrat, vitamin, mineral, dan zat fitokimia. Penelitian sebelumnya menyatakan buah-buahan sumber karbohidrat diketahui dapat memperbaiki ṼO2maks. Beta carotene dan vitamin C telah teruji dapat meningkatkan daya tahan. Buah wortel dan jeruk merupakan buah-buahan dengan kandungan beta carotene dan vitamin C yang tinggi. Buah wortel dan jeruk juga mengandung mineral yang tinggi yaitu kalium. Kalium merupakan mineral utama yang sangat dibutuhkan pada latihan yang membutuhkan daya tahan (endurance) dan kalium  diketahui juga berperan dalam metabolisme karbohidrat untuk mengubah glukosa menjadi glikogen yang disimpan dalam hati untuk energi. Efek dari kombinasi beta carotene, vitamin C dan kalium pada jus wortel dan jeruk terhadap daya tahan kardiorespirasi pada atlit perlu analisis lebih lanjut.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian jus wortel-jeruk terhadap nilai ṼO2maks pada atlet sepak bola.Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimental dengan rancangan pre-post test without control group. Jumlah subjek penelitian adalah sembilan atlet sepak bola yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi di Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Sepak Bola Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta. Subjek penelitian menerima intervensi pemberian 250 ml jus wortel-jeruk selama 13 hari. Nilai ṼO2maks diukur menggunakan yoyo intermittent recovery test I sebelum dan setelah intervensi. Perbedaan nilai ṼO2maks sebelum dan setelah intervensi dianalisis menggunakan uji paired t-test.Hasil: Hasil pengukuran nilai ṼO2maks sebelum pemberian jus wortel-jeruk (44,02 ± 2,66) ml /kg /menit dan setelah pemberian jus wortel-jeruk (45,88±3,11) ml/kg/menit. Terdapat perbedaan ṼO2maks yang signifikan setelah pemberian jus wortel-jeruk pada atlet sepak bola (p= 0.003).Kesimpulan: Pemberian jus wortel-jeruk efektif meningkatkan nilai ṼO2maks atlet sepak bola.KATA KUNCI: jeruk; sepak bola; ṼO2maks; wortel; yoyo intermittent recovery test I ABSTRACT Background: Cardiorespiratory endurance is one of the main factors for exercising. Cardiorespiratory endurance can be known by measuring ṼO2max. Fruits and vegetables intake can give beneficial impact for endurance athletes. Fruits and vegetables are thought to affect endurance by delaying fatigue caused by nutrients contained such as carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. Previous studies stated that fruit sources of carbohydrates are known to improve ṼO2maks. Beta carotene and vitamin C have been proven to increase endurance. Carrots and oranges are high in beta carotene and vitamin C. Carrot and orange also contain a high level of potassium. Potassium is one of the main mineral which is needed for endurance exercise and it also has the potential to help carbohydrates metabolism in converting glucose to glycogen which later saved by the liver as an energy source. The effect of the combination of beta carotene, vitamin C and potassium on carrot and orange juice on cardiorespiratory endurance in athletes requires further analysis.Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of carrot-orange juice on ṼO2max in soccer players.Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental with pre-post test without control group design. There were nine soccer players from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta that were taken by using purposive sampling which is match with criteria. The subject had been given 250 ml of carrot-orange juice for 13 days. ṼO2max was measured by using a yoyo intermittent recovery test I. All data were analyzed by paired T-test.Results: The mean of ṼO2max in soccer players before consuming carrot-orange juice is 44.02±2.66 ml /kg /min  and after consuming carrot-orange juice is 45.88±3.11 66 ml /kg /min. There was significant ṼO2max difference after carrot-orange (p=0.003).Conclusion: Consumption of carrot-orange juice for 13 days effectively increase ṼO2max level of soccer players.KEYWORDS: carrot; orange; soccer; ṼO2max; yoyo intermittent recovery test I

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia than often requires antidiabetic drugs (AD) to control fasting blood glucose (FBG) levels. However, long-term use of AD has side effects. Red rice bran is a natural food containing flavonoids and anthocyanins, rich in antioxidants. However, the antidiabetic effect of rice bran is yet to be understood. This study aimed to determine the effect of ethanol extract of red rice bran (EERRB) on the levels of FBG, insulin, HOMA-IR, HOMA-B, and QUICKI on male rats induced by streptozotocin-nicotinamide (STZ-NA). This study was a pretest-posttest control group design. White male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) (n=35) were divided into five groups randomly i.e P1 negative control (STZ-NA), P2 positive control (STZ-NA and acarbose 1.8 mg/200 g BW), P3, P4, P5 EERRB groups (STZ-NA and EERRB 165, 330, 660 mg/kg BW). The intervention was performed in 21 days. The data were analyzed using one way ANOVA test, paired t-test and Post Hoc test. EERRB effectively reduced FBG and HOMA-IR but increased insulin, HOMA-B and QUICKI in STZ-NA induced diabetic male rats. In conclusion, this shows that EERRB 330 and 660 mg/kgBW/day have the most potent antidiabetic effect. Abstrak: Diabetes melitus (DM) adalah penyakit metabolik yang ditandai dengan hiperglikemia kronis yang seringkali memerlukan obat antidiabetes (OAD) guna membantu mengontrol kadar glukosa darah puasa (GDP). Akan tetapi, penggunaan OAD dalam jangka panjang menimbulkan efek samping. Bekatul beras merah adalah bahan pangan alami dengan kandungan flavonoid dan antosianin yang kaya antioksidan. Namun, belum diketahui secara pasti efek antidiabetes dari bekatul beras merah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek ekstrak etanol bekatul beras merah (EEBBM) terhadap kadar GDP, insulin, HOMA-IR, HOMA-B, dan QUICKI pada tikus jantan diabetes yang diinduksi Streptopzotocin-Nicotinamide (STZ-NA). Rancangan penelitian berupa pretest-posttest control group design. Tikus putih jantan Wistar (Rattus norvegicus) (n=35) terbagi menjadi lima kelompok secara acak: P1 kelompok kontrol negatif (diinduksi STZ-NA), P2 kelompok kontrol positif (diinduksi STZ-NA dan diberi akarbosa 1,8 mg/200 gBB), P3, P4, dan P5 kelompok EEBBM (diinduksi STZ-NA dan diberi EEBBM 165, 330, dan 660 mg/kgBB). Intervensi dilakukan selama 21 hari. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji one way ANOVA, paired t-test, dan uji Post Hoc. EEBBM efektif menurunkan GDP dan HOMA-IR serta meningkatkan insulin, HOMA-B, dan QUICKI pada tikus jantan model diabetes yang diinduksi STZ-NA. Kesimpulannya menunjukkan bahwa EEBBM330 dan 660 mg/kgBB/hari memiliki efek antidiabetik yang paling kuat.

Abstract

Penelitian merupakan cara memajukan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi untuk meningkatkan kemaslahatan manusia. Setiap rencana penelitian yang melibatkan manusia dan hewan coba harus dilakukan kaji etik guna menjaga kemuliaan subjek. Pelayanan kaji etik oleh komite etik penelitian, mengalami perubahan dari waktu ke waktu seiring dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi informasi. Untuk mengetahui kualitas layanan, perlu dilakukan evaluasi tingkat kepuasan pengguna layanan etik baik bagi peneliti maupun penelaah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif survei pada peneliti dan penelaah yang terlibat dalam kelaikan etik KEPK FK UNS. Analisis data dengan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 89,69% dari 59 peneliti dan 89,56% dari 14 penelaah setuju layanan etik KEPK FK UNS sudah baik. Persentase kepuasan peneliti menunjukkan 35.59% sangat puas, 37.29% puas dan 27,12% cukup puas. Tingkat kepuasan pada penelaah diperoleh 28.57% sangat puas, 42.86% puas dan 28.57% cukup puas. Kesimpulan penelititian ini yaitu pelayanan etik KEPK FK UNS dinilai sudah baik dan memuaskan oleh peneliti dan penelaah. Abstract

Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by increased blood glucose. Nutritional support rich in dietary fiber and high protein can stimulate insulin secretion, thereby inhibiting increased blood glucose. Enteral of Growol-Germinated Mung Bean Flour (ENGROCAJO) is a formula developed from growol flour and germinated mung bean flour. It contains high dietary fiber with protein and is an alternative nutritional therapy for people with T2DM. Hospital Diabetes Mellitus (DM) enteral formula administered to patients is limited to dietary fiber. Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the nutritional value and organoleptic value of the ENGROCAJO formula and compare it with the hospital DM enteral formula. Methods: This was an observational laboratory study developed an enteral formula from growol and germinated mung bean flour. It analyzed the nutritional value using proximate and dietary fiber analysis. The organoleptic assessment utilized a hedonic test with 20 participants. The nutritional and organoleptic contents were compared with hospital DM enteral formula. The difference test between formulas was tested using Kruskal-Wallis with a significant value of p<0.05. Results: The nutritional content in 100 g of ENGROCAJO formula and hospital DM enteral formula includes energy of 386.86 and 329.49 kcal, protein of 41.38% and 20.43%, fat of 2.78% and 8.88%, carbohydrate of 49.08% and 38.55% with dietary fiber of 22.43% and 3.62%. Organoleptic assessment of aroma, color, flavor, and thickness showed that the ENGROCAJO formula had higher quality than the hospital DM enteral formula. However, the flavor aspect showed significant difference (p=0.038). Conclusions: ENGROCAJO formula contains higher protein and dietary fiber compared to the hospital DM enteral formula. There was a significant difference in the organoleptic taste between the ENGROCAJO formula and the hospital DM enteral formula.

Abstract

Increased global awareness of research ethics has encouraged many countries to develop an accountable review process. A recent development in Indonesia is the implementation of the Health Research Ethics Management Information System (SIM-EPK), which digitizes the ethics review by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) that can be monitored nationally. This study aimed to evaluate SIM-EPK using the Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance (RE-AIM) framework. A total of 30 informants including applicants, reviewers, and the IRB secretariat were involved. Data were collected using the Zoom meeting platform on 26 August 2022 and analyzed using NVivo software version 12. The respondents reported that the SIM-EPK is easily accessible and helpful. However, challenges were identified, including applicants’ lack of thoroughness when filling out the submission forms, unfamiliarity with the application, and technical problems such as lengthy CAPTCHA requirements for login and non-automated reminders. Concerns regarding data security, the complexity of submission forms, and institutional support were raised by several respondents. In conclusion, the SIM-EPK is well-received and considered as an effective and efficient digital tool that facilitates the ethical review. For the sustainability of this application, enhanced institutional support and improved data security measures are recommended.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Oxidative stress and inflammation contribute to pancreatic cell dysfunction that promote insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes (T2D). Red rice bran contains bioactive substances with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which improved insulin resistance in obese mice. However, no studies have explored the potential of ethanol extract of red rice bran (EERRB) to prevent T2D progression, particularly pancreatic fibrosis complications. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of EERRB on inflammation measured with interleukin (IL)-1β and fibrosis of pancreatic tissue in a rat model of T2D. METHODS: Rats were induced with streptozotocin and nicotinamide to induce diabetes, and then separated into five groups. One group received no treatment, while the other four received 9 mg/kg/day acarbose, 165, 330, or 660 mg/kg/day EERRB orally for 21 days. Immunohistochemistry was conducted on pancreas tissues to measure the expression of IL-1β, while pancreatic fibrosis was assessed with Masson’s Trichrome staining.RESULTS: EERRB reduced the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokine, IL-1β, in pancreas tissue in a dose dependent manner. Significantly lower IL-1β expression were found in group receiving 660 mg/kg/day EERRB (10%) compared to diabetic with no treatment group (50%) (p<0.0001). Additionally, the IL-1β expression in the highest dose of EERRB group was comparable to the group receiving acarbose (10%). CONCLUSION: This finding suggests the beneficial effect of EERRB in the hyperglycemic condition that causes oxidative stress through blocking the IL-1β expression, hence alleviating the inflammation in pancreas tissue, and have a tendency in preventing pancreatic fibrosis progression, a process implicated in T2D pathogenesis. KEYWORDS: diabetes, inflammation, pancreatic fibrosis, red rice bran

Abstract

Pelayanan masyarakat terkait stunting dan wasting pada balita di Kabupaten Kediri sangat penting mengingat prevalensi yang tinggi sebesar 21,6%. Kegiatan ini  bertujuan agar pengetahuan ibu meningkat tentang bagaimana tindakan pencegahan stunting dan wasting melalui konseling. Metode yang digunakan adalah cross-sectional dengan sampling acak terhadap 16 ibu balita dan ibu hamil. Konseling dilakukan dengan memberikan materi tentang gizi seimbang, diikuti melalui kegiatan pre-test serta post-test yang akan digunakan untuk melakukan pengukuran perubahan pengetahuan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan terdapat hasil meningkat pada rata-rata skor pra-tes dari 91,8% menjadi 98,6% pada pasca-tes, dengan perubahan sebesar 6,8%. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah bahwa konseling yang dilakukan berhasil dalam meningkatkan pemahaman responden tentang pencegahan stunting dan wasting, sehingga mendukung pertumbuhan serta perkembangan anak yang baik.
