Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of Quizizz in enhancing critical reading skills among veterinary students in an ESP (English for Specific Purposes) course. Using a descriptive qualitative research design, the study involved 90 veterinary students from a private university who regularly use Quizizz for reading practice. Data were collected through surveys and semi-structured interviews, focusing on students' experiences, benefits, and challenges. The responses were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key patterns related to learning effectiveness and obstacles. The results indicate that Quizizz enhances engagement, motivation, and reading comprehension by integrating gamified features such as instant feedback, leaderboards, and interactive questions. However, the study also found limitations in fostering deeper critical reading skills, as the platform primarily supports surface-level comprehension rather than higher-order thinking. Challenges such as technical issues, lack of personalized feedback, and stress from competition were also noted. To address these challenges, the study suggests integrating discussion-based activities, incorporating instructor feedback, balancing competition with collaboration, and designing questions that promote analytical thinking. Future research should explore how adaptive learning technologies and AI-driven tutoring can further support critical reading skills in veterinary ESP courses. Abstract

Education in Indonesia shapes children’s character, personality, and abilities, but faces challenges like unequal access to resources, quality differences between regions, and low reading interest among children. This study aims to develop AI-based children’s storybooks through the Fry readability for elementary students. This study used the ADDIE model, which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Results showed that AI-based storybooks can improve children’s reading interest and help teachers provide support based on students’ competence. The score of Expert validation was 37 out of 40 (92.5%), and media expert validation was 52 out of 55 (94.5%). Fry readability ensures the reading level is suitable for fourth to sixth-grade students to improve the quality of elementary education in Indonesia, reduce regional quality gaps, and improve students’ academic performance. The AI-based storybooks significantly boost children’s interest in reading, address low reading engagement, assist teachers in offering more effective educational support, and help bridge educational quality gaps between different regions. The alignment with children’s cognitive development ensures engaging and developmentally appropriate content, demonstrating an innovative approach to educational tools and paving the way for further technological integration in education. Therefore, the development of AI-based children’s storybooks with the Fry readability approach not only increases children’s reading interest but also assists teachers in providing more specific support according to students’ abilities. This innovation is expected to positively impact the quality of elementary education in Indonesia, help address educational quality disparities between regions, and enhance students’ academic achievements at the national level.

Abstract

The increasing use of information technology in the banking industry has made it more difficult to manage risks in the digital projects of state-owned banks. This study aims to examine the risk management processes of a state-owned mortgage bank in Indonesia and how it manages the information technology risks in the digital banking project lifecycle. This qualitative research is based on content analysis of forty-three risk assessment documents, with thematic coding using ATLAS.ti. This research was further enriched through expert interviews and a quantitative survey conducted among 38 project stakeholders. Risks are defined in a hierarchical classification and mapped to project phases using the PMBOK. Identifying operational, compliance, and third-party risks is most pertinent in the execution and post-implementation phases. Additionally, there are pressing concerns, such as the potential for cyber threats, non-compliance with applicable laws and regulatory frameworks, integration issues, over-reliance on service vendors, and systemic dependence on external vendors. In this case, the study integrates PMBOK, ISO 31000:2018, and the insights of seasoned practitioners to create a singular holistic mitigation strategy. It comprises a risk prioritization matrix, phased actionable treatment plans for each defined stage, and robust governance and responsiveness enhancement mechanisms for high-risk reactive IT environments. The guidance is triangulated with sector-specific intelligence, thereby underscoring proactive risk governance through communication, vendor due diligence, dynamic control, and real-time accountability across boundaries scaffolding. Further single-initiative case studies, multi-institutional case studies, evolving longitudinal risk studies, and the application of AI and blockchain for predictive and autonomous risk steering in digital finance could enhance and refine this work.
