Abstract

This article explores the application of the theories of al-Inâyah (Providence) and al-Ikhtirâ’ (Creation) as a Quranic approach. The analysis is based on Ibn Rushd’s Manâhij al-Adillah fî Aqâ’id al-Millah, highlighting how he integrates Greek philosophy with Islam to explain God as the First Cause and the Organizer of the universe. The method used is library research with a content analysis approach. The results show that Ibn Rushd views the order of the universe as a manifestation of God's will, where creation itself serves as evidence of a Creator with a divine purpose. The theories of al-Inâyah and al-Ikhtirâ’ are employed to argue that the universe’s order and complexity are the results of divine intention, in line with Quranic teachings about God as Creator and Organizer. This study finds that Ibn Rushd combines Aristotelian philosophy with Quranic teachings to provide a more comprehensive understanding of God. Using both reason and revelation, he portrays God as an essence that transcends the physical realm. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding on Islamic theology by showing the compatibility between rational inquiry and divine revelation. This study also demonstrates Ibn Rushd’s significant influence on both Islamic and Western philosophical traditions, reflecting a profound integration of philosophy and theology in conceptualizing the divine.

Abstract

Abstract

The issue of tawasul is often a point of debate among the public, both lay and learned. This difference is mainly related to tawasul through the glory of someone, both living and deceased, including tawasul to the Prophet Muhammad saw.. In the Islamic tradition , not all forms of tawasul are allowed. The Qur'an discusses the concept of tawasul in Surah Al-Maidah (5): 35 and Al-Isra' (17): 57, which is then interpreted variously by the mufasirs. This study aims to examine the dimension of tawasul in the interpretation of the Qur'an through a comparative analysis of two different styles of interpretation, namely Sufistic interpretation (Laṭā’if al-Isyārāt by al-Qusyairĭ) and theological interpretation (al-Tafsīr al-Kabīr by Ibn Taymiyyah). The research method used is library research with descriptive and comparative approaches. The researcher describes the interpretation of the two mufasirs on the verses of tawasul, then compares the similarities and differences in their approach to the concept of wasilah. The results show that al-Qusyairĭ and Ibn Taymiyyah have an understanding in permitting tawasul through good deeds and faith in Allah and His Messenger. However, there are fundamental differences in their approach to tawasul through the intermediary of creatures. Al-Qusyairĭ in Laṭā’if al-Isyārāt emphasizes that tawasul encompasses a broader spiritual dimension, where intermediaries such as the Prophet and the saints can be a means of getting closer to Allah, as long as they maintain sincerity and faith in worship. Meanwhile, Ibn Taymiyyah in al-Tafsīr al-Kabīr rejects any form of tawasul that involves humans as intermediaries, asserting that the legitimate approach to tawasul is through direct prayer to Allah, without intermediaries other than faith and good deeds.

Abstract

This article discusses an overview of maqāşid sharī’ah in the thought of Jasser Auda, which forms the foundation of his approach to Islamic legal philosophy. Auda highlights the importance of understanding maqāşid sharī’ah as the primary goal of Islamic law. He argues that a deep understanding of maqāşid sharī’ah is necessary to produce just and welfare-oriented laws. In this perspective, Auda views Islamic law as an integrated system, where each part is interconnected and contributes to achieving the established goals. Auda also details that his systemic thinking encompasses concepts such as raḥmatan lil al-‘ālamīn (mercy to all creation) and maslahah (public interest), as guides for formulating laws that are responsive to the needs of society. This research concludes that Jasser Auda's thoughts on the philosophy of Islamic law, emphasizing maqāşid sharī’ah and Islamic law as an integral system, significantly contribute to understanding how Islamic law can function as a flexible and adaptive instrument in responding to the changes of time. This approach reinforces the idea that Islamic law is not static but can evolve according to its fundamental principles to achieve the welfare of the people and higher moral goals.

Abstract

The word iqra' in QS. Al-'Alaq verse 1 is one of the words that is interesting to study. Why the word iqra' became the first revelation revealed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW, who was ummi, and the ambiguity of the object that must be read, raises profound questions about the hidden meaning in that word. This study aims to reveal the deeper meaning of the word iqra' through the kaidah insya' talab amr in the science of ma'ani Al-Qur'an, and its implications in Islamic da'wah methods. This study uses the library research method with an approach based on the science of ma'ani Al-Qur'an. The results of the study show that the rule of insya' talab amr requires the implementation of a task by a higher party to a lower party. The phrase iqra' in the Qur'an is mentioned 16 times in 8 surahs with different derivations, which shows the importance of this command in various contexts. The word iqra' (read) is a form of fiil amr which, in the study of ma'ani science, is included in the insya' talab rule, which demands that something be done. In addition to the literal meaning of "read," the word iqra' has multiple meanings, including commands to study, collect, convey, examine, recite, explore thoroughly, and compile. The results of the study show that the command iqra' not only encouraged the Prophet Muhammad SAW to read in the literal sense, but also to understand, practice, and spread knowledge. This reflects the importance of knowledge, education, and the dissemination of information as fundamental elements in Islamic preaching, which emphasizes that the methods of Islamic preaching must be rooted in education and the comprehensive dissemination of knowledge, in accordance with the command iqra' which became the basis of the Prophet Muhammad SAW's preaching.

Abstract

The identity crisis faced by the millennial generation is a central issue in social, psychological, and cultural development in this era of globalization. Many factors contribute to this identity crisis, including uncertainty about one's self-identity, shifting cultural values, and the impact of technological advancements and social media. This phenomenon often leads to confusion and difficulty in determining the direction of life, thus requiring a new approach to address this problem. This study aims to examine the relevance of the story of Ashabul Kahfi in Tafsir Al-Maraghi as a solution to the identity crisis faced by the millennial generation. The approach used in this study is a tafsir approach with an in-depth content analysis of Tafsir Al-Maraghi’s interpretation of the story of Ashabul Kahfi in Surah Al-Kahfi. The research findings indicate that the story of Ashabul Kahfi contains values of steadfast faith, the struggle to uphold life principles, and the search for self-identity, which align with values of spirituality and belief. These values can provide inspiration for millennials in overcoming the challenges of their identity crisis. The implication of this study is the importance of applying the values of steadfast faith and self-identity search in religious education and character development to shape a generation with firm life principles and a clear direction in facing life’s challenges in the modern era.

Abstract

Elementary school years represent a crucial developmental stage that requires optimal stimulation across various domains, particularly in social development. Self-confidence, as a key element in character formation, is not innate but can be cultivated through social interaction and experience. Many students face difficulties adapting to new environments, leading to low confidence, anxiety, and fear of speaking in public. To address these challenges, a Muhadloroh training program was implemented to strengthen public speaking skills among students of SDN Windu, Karangbinangun. This program employed the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, actively involving students in every stage, including observation, mentoring, and direct practice. Activities included training as a master of ceremonies (MC), delivering speeches, and creating motivational chants. The results demonstrated significant improvements in students’ courage, creativity, and communication skills. Therefore, Muhadloroh training is proven effective in fostering self-confidence, enhancing public speaking abilities, and developing communicative and confident student character.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the principles of Qur'anic business through an examination of buying and selling verses in the Quran, utilizing the perspective of Tafsir al-Munir by Wahbah al-Zuhaili. The core issue addressed is the understanding of ethical business principles in Islam as contained in the Quran, particularly in the context of buying and selling transactions. The problem-solving method employed is a thorough analysis of Quranic verses related to buying and selling, as explained in Tafsir al-Munir. The study finds that in buying and selling transactions, the Quran emphasizes justice, prohibits usury, emphasizes mutually agreed-upon transactions, and underscores the ethics of trading. The Qur'anic business principles, when analyzed through Tafsir al-Munir, provide a strong foundation for fair, transparent, and ethical business practices in Islam. The emphasis on justice emphasizes the need to consider the interests of all parties in transactions. The prohibition of usury indicates the importance of avoiding practices that harm others. Mutually agreed-upon transactions emphasize transparency and voluntary agreements. Ethics in trading underscores the need to maintain honesty, trustworthiness, and the quality of goods traded. The conclusion drawn from this study is that understanding and implementing Qur'anic business principles in modern business practices can bring significant benefits, not only to the businesses themselves but also to society at large. This study makes a significant contribution to understanding how Islamic principles can be applied in modern business practices to achieve sustainable goals and benefit society at large.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct the understanding of the nature of paradise in the Qur'an, which is often dominated by materialistic-sensory interpretations. Amidst eschatological discourses that tend to visualize heaven as a space for biological satisfaction, this article offers a reorientation perspective on the concept of Liqa’ullah (encounter with Allah) as the pinnacle of transcendental bliss. Utilizing the maudhu’i (thematic) exegesis method integrated with a phenomenological hermeneutic approach, this research dissects several eschatological verses to uncover the spiritual significance behind material symbols. The results indicate that the Qur'anic narrative regarding physical pleasures (such as rivers, palaces, and pure spouses) functions as a culturallinguistic dialectical instrument for the initial audience, while its ultimate essence lies in the ontological dimension of encountering the Creator. These findings confirm that within the trajectory of faith history, the promise of Liqa’ullah serves as a determinant factor driving the spiritual resilience of prophetic figures. This study implies a paradigm shift in understanding the hereafter, from merely a physical destination to an experience of absolute Divine presence.
