Abstract

The learning process in the subject of Sanitation and Beauty Hygiene at SMK Tamansiswa Kudus tends to be passive because it is dominated by lecture methods, which has an impact on low student interest and learning outcomes. This study aims to develop an interactive learning media based on the Zep Quiz website and test its feasibility, effectiveness, and practicality to overcome these problems. This type of research is Research and Development (RnD) by applying the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects of the research trial were 16 students of grade X of the Beauty and SPA Study Program. Data collection techniques included observation, expert validation sheets, learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest), and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the learning media obtained a very feasible level of feasibility with an expert validation score of 88.67%. The effectiveness test showed an effective category (77.04%) as indicated by an increase in the average student score from 46.5 in the pretest to 87.75 in the posttest. The conclusion of this study is that the Zep Quiz-based learning media is feasible, effective, and practical for improving students' theoretical understanding and learning interest in Sanitation and Beauty Hygiene in vocational high schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the suitability of burlap sack waste as a raw material for headpieces. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach with a one-shot case study model to test the product's suitability. The assessment process was conducted in two stages: a product validity test by three expert panelists and a preference test by 20 moderately trained panelists. The validity test aimed to assess the product's technical aspects, including shape, neatness, strength, color, and finish. The validity test results showed an average score of 93%, categorized as "very valid." The preference test was conducted to determine the level of user acceptance of the product based on aspects of shape, strength, aesthetics, neatness, ease of application, and finish, with an average score of 88%, categorized as "very like." Based on these findings, burlap sack waste was deemed suitable for use as a raw material for headpieces because it meets quality standards, has visual appeal, and has the potential to be developed into an economically valuable and environmentally friendly product.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a nail art design representing the Legend of Lake Toba in the work "The Enchanted Beauty of Toba." This research was motivated by the limited exploration of local culture-based nail art design development, particularly those featuring the Legend of Lake Toba. This research employed a quantitative approach with descriptive methods analyzed using percentage analysis. Data collection was conducted through sensory testing by three expert panelists and a questionnaire survey of 30 respondents, students of the Beauty Education Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Semarang State University. The results showed that the sensory testing obtained an average score of 91%, categorized as "strongly agree," while the preference testing obtained an average score of 84%, categorized as "very like." These findings indicate that the developed design is not only technically valid but also acceptable to users. Thus, the nail art design based on the Legend of Lake Toba is proven to be able to represent cultural values ​​visually and symbolically in an innovative and aesthetic way.

Abstract

Javanese bridal bun styling requires the right backcombing technique to produce a dense, neat bun shape, and has good durability. However, problematic hair characteristics such as thin, slippery, and oily hair often become obstacles in the process of forming a backcombing. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using a crimper and hair powder on the quality of the backcombing bun in the Javanese Bridal course. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design with two treatments (split treatment design). The research sample taken was 12 students of the Beauty Education Study Program selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through sensory testing using a questionnaire with a dichotomous scale (Yes/No). Data analysis was carried out descriptively, as well as through prerequisite tests including the normality test (Shapiro-Wilk) and the homogeneity test (Levene). Furthermore, hypothesis testing was carried out using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test with the help of the SPSS program at a significance level of 5%. Based on the research results, the use of a crimping iron and hair powder were both proven to be equally effective in significantly improving the quality of the hair bun (p < 0.05). However, the results of the independent sample t-test showed no significant difference in effectiveness between the two methods (p = 0.107 > 0.05). Both techniques can be considered to have equal levels of effectiveness in improving the quality of the hair bun. Therefore, the use of a crimping iron and hair powder can be used as alternative techniques to improve the quality of the hair bun during the learning process of Javanese bridal hair styling.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of client satisfaction regarding the implementation of sanitation and hygiene at SPA Homecare by Deby. Given the mobile nature of homecare services, the implementation of hygiene protocols is crucial for client safety. The method used in this study was a quantitative descriptive percentage approach. The subjects of this study included all clients who had received services at SPA Homecare by Deby, using a sampling technique known as accidental sampling. Data were collected through a 4-point Likert scale questionnaire distributed online and offline to clients aged 17-50 years. Data analysis was performed by calculating frequency percentages and achievement scores to determine assessment categories based on a range of 0%-100%. The findings of this study indicate that overall, the level of client satisfaction is in the "very high" category. The results indicate that sanitation and hygiene factors support client satisfaction. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of sanitation and hygiene at SPA Homecare by Deby is carried out very well in accordance with established operational procedures, thus creating a sense of security and satisfaction for clients.

Abstract

Banana tree stem waste has the potential to be used as a raw material for environmentally friendly hair accessories, but its utilization is still limited. This study aims to analyze the product validity and user preference level for three models of hair accessories made from banana tree stem waste. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-shot case study design. The product validity was tested by three expert panelists, while the preference test involved 20 respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis. The results of the study showed that in the validity test, each assessment indicator of shape, neatness, strength, color, and final result showed a percentage above the very valid criteria limit. Models P2 and P3 obtained the highest average score (92.50%), followed by P1 (90.00%), which indicates that banana tree stem material has adequate structural characteristics to support the function and aesthetics of hair accessories. The results of the preference test also showed a very high level of user acceptance for all indicators, shape, strength, aesthetics, neatness, ease of application, and final result. Model P2 achieved the highest average score (88.61%), followed by P1 (88.33%), and P3 (88.06%). This finding confirms that the product is not only technically feasible according to experts but also highly accepted by users in terms of comfort, aesthetics, and ease of use.

Abstract

Learning videos are a form of digital media that displays a combination of audio and visual, which aims to convey learning materials such as concepts, principles, procedures, and theories of knowledge. The goal is to facilitate the understanding of learning material for students, so that they can master the material better. This study aims to evaluate the level of effectiveness of learning videos in teaching the process of making shapes. This study used a pre-experimental method with a one-shot case study design. Data were collected through interviews, literature studies, and questionnaire dissemination. The research was conducted at Semarang State University, especially at the Faculty of Engineering, Beauty Education Study Program, in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, involving 74 students from the class of 2022. The results showed that learning videos were considered very feasible in terms of material, with an average score of 3.55, and Highly favourable in terms of media, with an average score of 3.52. Based on these results, it is concluded that learning videos can be effectively applied in teaching material about the process of making modified Balinese buns using Crimping Iron.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji validitas dan kelayakan media e-modul pengeritingan rambut yang dikembangkan sebagai media pembelajaran bagi siswa Tata Kecantikan SMK Negeri 6 Semarang. Metode Penelitian menggunakan model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate) yang dibatasi sampai tahap Development. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI Tata Kecantikan SMK Negeri 6 Semarang, dengan validasi oleh ahli materi, ahli media, dan pengguna, Produk divalidasi oleh tiga ahli materi dan tiga ahli media, kemudian diujicobakan kepada 65 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket validasi dan uji coba lapangan, yang dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa e-modul yang dikembangkan berdasarkan penilaian oleh ahli materi mendapat rata-rata persentase sebesar 83.50% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”, penilaian oleh ahli media mendapat rata-rata persentase sebesar 90.75% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”, dan penilaian oleh pengguna mendapat rata-rata persentase sebesar 90.50 % dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”. E-modul pengeritingan rambut layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli materi dan ahli media serta uji coba kepada siswa. Media ini dapat membantu siswa memahami materi pengeritingan rambut secara lebih mandiri, praktis, dan menarik.

Abstract

Lipstick is an important element in bridal makeup as it enhances the character of the face through the color, texture, and shape of the lips. In the brown make-up look trend, brown lipstick is a popular choice because of the natural, warm, and elegant impression it gives. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through literature study, observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that lipstick types such as matte, gloss, tint, and cream provide different aesthetic effects on each lip shape, such as thin, thick, small, or asymmetrical lips, so their use needs to be adjusted to create a harmonious look. In conclusion, the choice of lipstick type and color in look brown bridal makeup not only strengthens the visual appeal but also reflects the personalization and confidence of the bride, so it is important for the makeup artist to consider the lip shape, client preference, and composition of the lipstick used.
