Abstract

This research analyzes the interest of students from the 2023 cohort of the Information Systems Study Program at State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) toward student organizations HMI, UKOMI, LPM, and LDK. Using a quantitative descriptive method with an online survey approach, the research involved 51 student respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests. The results showed a low level of student participation in student organizations, with 84.3% of respondents being inactive, and academic focus being the main reason for inactivity at 52.1%. The chi-square test indicated no significant relationship between gender and organizational activity (p-value = 0.50699), suggesting that academic factors and competency development more dominantly influence organizational decisions. Among active students, HMI was the most popular organization 87.5%, with soft skill development as the primary motivation 50%. There was potential interest 68% in organizations directly related to the field of information systems. This research recommends developing leadership training programs and information technology skills integrated with the academic curriculum to increase student participation

Abstract

Islamic moral education is a crucial aspect in shaping a society's character to be ethical and civilized. In Empai Tanong Village, Montasik District, Aceh Besar, the synergy between community leaders and formal educational institutions has proven to be effective in the formation of Islamic ethics. This study aims to explore the role of collaboration between formal and informal education, carried out by community leaders, in reinforcing Islamic moral values in the local community. The research uses a qualitative approach, with in-depth interviews with community leaders, educators, and local residents. The findings indicate that formal education and the teachings from community leaders complement each other, with religious education in schools providing the theory and concepts of Islamic ethics, while community leaders instill these values through example and religious activities. The family and social environment also play an important role in supporting the formation of Islamic ethics, although challenges from social media and external cultural influences remain obstacles. This study emphasizes the importance of synergy between educational institutions, community leaders, and families in creating a community with Islamic ethics in Empai Tanong Village.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Peningkatan volume sampah anorganik di kawasan urban seperti Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, menjadi tantangan lingkungan serius, khususnya bagi komunitas anak Pekerja Migran Indonesia (PMI) yang memiliki kesadaran lingkungan rendah dan akses terbatas terhadap pendidikan kontekstual. Studi ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan siswa Sekolah Dasar di Sanggar Bimbingan (SB) Al-Amin melalui program edukasi berbasis daur ulang kreatif (upcycling). Metode: Pendekatan partisipatif melalui pelatihan pengelolaan sampah anorganik dan praktik langsung pembuatan produk daur ulang. Hasil: Adanya peningkatan signifikan pemahaman siswa 44% terhadap konsep 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) dari skor rata-rata pre-test 41% menjadi post-test 85%, serta peningkatan keterampilan teknis dan kreativitas dalam mengolah sampah menjadi produk bernilai guna. Program ini juga menumbuhkan nilai kolaborasi dan tanggung jawab lingkungan. Kesimpulan: Pendekatan edukasi berbasis praktik efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan anak-anak PMI dan dapat direplikasi untuk mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan di komunitas urban serupa.
