Abstract

Abstract

This paper examines the integration of Fiqh Tanzil (understanding the divine texts), Fiqh Waqi’ (contextual understanding of reality), and Fiqh Ma’aalat (consideration of consequences) as a strategic framework in Islamic preaching (da'wah), particularly in understanding and conveying jihad verses. The study aims to demonstrate how the combination of these three approaches can provide a comprehensive understanding of jihad verses, adapted to the context of time and place, while maintaining the relevance of da'wah without compromising Islamic principles. Fiqh Tanzil serves as a theological foundation by interpreting primary sources, such as the Qur’an and Hadith, to ensure the authenticity of the message. This approach guarantees that the understanding of jihad verses remains within the framework of authentic Islamic teachings. Fiqh Waqi’ emphasizes the importance of analyzing contemporary social, cultural, and political realities, making da'wah more relevant to the needs and challenges of modern societies. By deeply understanding the conditions of the audience, the message can be delivered contextually and effectively. Meanwhile, Fiqh Ma’aalat evaluates the potential long-term impacts of preaching strategies, ensuring that the conveyed messages create maximum benefit while avoiding risks such as conflicts, misunderstandings, or radicalization. The study employs a case study approach, analyzing specific jihad verses and their application in various da'wah contexts. The findings reveal that this integrative approach is effective in addressing the challenges of modern da'wah, particularly in multicultural and multireligious environments. It also helps communicate Islam as a religion that prioritizes peace, justice, and social harmony. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of training preachers to master these three approaches. By understanding local and global contexts and considering the social, cultural, and political impacts of their messages, da'wah can become more effective, relevant, and meaningful in contemporary times.

Abstract

Abstract

This article examines the thoughts and approaches of Robert Gleave in the study of Islamic law, focusing on criticizing his methodology and epistemology. As an orientalist, Gleave adopts a philological and historical approach in researching Islamic law, especially in the Shia tradition. This approach has been criticized by various Muslim scholars for ignoring the normative and transcendental aspects of Islamic law. Moreover, Gleave's skepticism towards classical sources of Islamic law raises questions regarding the validity of his approach in understanding Islamic law as a revelation-based system. The paper also discusses Gleave's bias in interpreting Islamic hermeneutics as well as the limitations of his analysis in applying Islamic law in the context of contemporary Muslim life. Using the perspective of Islamic epistemology, this paper concludes that Gleave's approach needs to be examined more critically so that it is not only Western academically oriented but also respects the principles of Islamic law held by Muslims.

Abstract

This research focuses on developing health-based da'wah as a holistic approach to increasing public health awareness within the framework of Islamic values. Health-based da'wah integrates religious teachings with modern health principles to encourage sustainable behavior change. In Islam, maintaining health is seen as a spiritual responsibility, as explained in the Koran and hadith, such as the importance of cleanliness, healthy eating patterns, and maintaining physical, mental and spiritual balance. The research method uses a qualitative-descriptive approach by examining Islamic literature and public health practices. This research found that da'wah bil hal, namely da'wah through concrete actions, is an effective method for conveying Islamic values that are relevant to health. Examples include educating the public about the importance of maintaining cleanliness through the teaching "cleanliness is part of faith" or promoting healthy eating patterns by referring to the recommendations of the Prophet Muhammad. The research results show that health-based da'wah is able to reach various levels of society, both in urban and rural areas. This approach is also relevant for addressing increasing mental health challenges, especially in urban communities. In addition, collaboration between religious leaders, health practitioners and government institutions is needed to expand the impact of this da'wah. The research conclusion confirms that health-based da'wah not only plays a role in improving people's physical and mental well-being, but also strengthens spiritual awareness as a basis for living a healthy lifestyle according to Islamic teachings.

Abstract

This research analyzes how demonstrations are viewed by contemporary Muslim intellectuals. The research method is based on a qualitative approach with a literature study basis. Primary references use recent studies with a number of pros and cons that have occurred between the main supporters (Ikhwanul Muslimin) and those who strongly oppose it (Madkhaliyah). Secondary references use indirectly related research. The research findings show that there are 4 characteristics of Muslim-majority countries that need to be differentiated concerning the law of demonstrations: (1) Muslim-majority countries that adopt the principle of shura in their political system. Demonstrations are considered haram because of the principle of obedience to the government as long as it does not involve disobedience to God. (2) Muslim-majority countries that adopt the principle of democracy. Demonstrations are allowed, even recommended or obligatory, as long as they do not aim to annul the government. (3) Occupied Muslim-majority countries. Demonstrations in occupied Muslim-majority countries, such as intifada actions and the like, are considered obligatory. The obligation is not limited to demonstrations but extends to jihad, both defensive and offensive. (4) Demonstrations in non-Muslim countries are considered permissible as long as they do not create problems for the Muslim minority.
