Abstract

Keyword:Chemistry, Problem Based Learning, Science literacy skillsAbstractEducation plays a crucial role in the formation of human resources who are able to solve various problems. The educational situation in Indonesia is still relatively low, including students' science literacy skills. Lack of learning activities that support students' science literacy skills and the habit of doing problems that use discourse. These problems arise from students who have minimal participation during the continuation of the learning process, especially in chemistry learning. This study was conducted by reviewing 12 relevant articles in the last five years which was intended to determine the influence of Problem Based Learning on students' science literacy skills in chemistry learning. Based on the results of the analysis of relevant articles, it shows that Problem Based Learning has a positive impact, namely improving students' science literacy skills in chemistry learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of worksheets and the science process skills of students using worksheets based on local wisdom-oriented projects in Central Java, with insights from green chemistry. The research follows the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, specifically the modified 4D development procedure, which includes define, design, and develop stages. The study was conducted at UIN Walisongo Semarang with 60 chemistry education students participating. Expert validation results indicated that the worksheet, based on local wisdom-oriented projects with green chemistry insight, was feasible, achieving a validity percentage of 86.53%, categorized as very valid. Observations of students’ science process skills using project worksheets 1, 2, and 3 yielded an average score of 78.6%. Pretest and post-test data on students' science process skills showed scores of 29.8 and 70.5 for the experimental class, and 29.64 and 54.46 for the control class, respectively. The average n-gain score for the experimental class was calculated to be 58%, indicating it falls within the moderately effective category.  In conclusion, the worksheet, which leverages the local wisdom of Central Java and incorporates green chemistry principles into the study of acid-base material, is feasible and can be effectively used as a learning resource for students.

Abstract

This research is based on the low ability of creative thinking in SMAN 1 Wedung. Learning can be optimal when students learn according to their learning styles. However, in reality, learning based on students' differing interests and learning styles is not well facilitated. This is due to several factors. The purpose of this study was to exploring differentiated learning to foster creative thinking on stoichiometry material in high school. This research is a quantitative research with a quasy experimental design of non-equivalent control group design. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling technique. The population of the research sample was all students in grade XI and the samples used in the study were class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2. Class XI MIPA 1 as the experimental class and class XI MIPA 2 as the control class. The research data were obtained through the pre-test and post-test results of the control and experimental classes which were then analyzed using the t- test test. Based on the final stage of data analysis, the results of hypothesis testing using the t-test on post-test data showed a significance value (2- tailed) of 0.000. Because the significance value (2- tailed) is smaller than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted while the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. So it can be concluded that the differentiated learning model is effective for improving students' creative thinking skills in stoichiometry material.

Abstract

The issue lies in the difficulty students face in understanding abstract chemistry concepts, particularly atomic structure. Traditional teacher-centered approaches, with limited use of technology and innovation, lead to low student motivation, reduced interest in learning, and suboptimal comprehension of key concepts. This study aims to provide an overview of new learning strategies in the topic of atomic structure in chemistry learning. The research method used is a study literature review through a website using the google scholar database and the Publish or Perish application. This research technique uses qualitative analysis with a focus on data obtained from journals regarding learning innovations presented in the form of tables and narratives. The results of the study show that journal publications on chemistry learning innovations tend to increase, especially in 2019. The level of accreditation varies, with most indexed at sinta levels 3 and 4. The types of learning innovations found include learning media, learning models and learning methods. Innovation in learning media is the main focus, followed by learning models and methods. This review reveals that the most effective chemistry learning innovations involve learning media such as digital modules, interactive multimedia, and virtual laboratories, supported by problem-based and inquiry-based learning models, which enhance interactivity, clarity, efficiency, and student learning outcomes while promoting sustainability in chemistry education.
