Abstract

Background: This quantitative research aimed to determine the effect of storage time to damage omega-3 fatty acids in breast milk (ASI). Method: Data were analyzed using GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) chromatograms of data. Results: The data generated was breast milk (ASI) stored in the freezer temperature (00C) for 0, 7 and 30 days had a percent relative contents of omega-3, respectively for 29.12, 28.24 and 6.24. Based on the Kruskal Wallis Test, obtained p value=0.018 (p<0.05). Conclusion: This statistical result showed that there was the effect of storage time to damage omega-3 fatty acids in breast milk.

Abstract

All types of banana peel can be processed into flour. This study aims to conduct phytochemical and proximate studies of Musa sapientum banana peel flour and its organoleptic test on donuts. The research is quantitative. Phytochemical and proximate profiles were obtained from the results of laboratory tests, while the organoleptic profile of banana skin flour in making donuts was obtained from the results of donut acceptance tests on 60 panelists. The phytochemical profiles examined were antioxidant activity, anthocyanin and carotene levels. The organoleptic profile of Musa sapientum banana peel flour in making donuts examined was taste, color, texture, and aroma. Proximate profiles examined were water, ash, fat, protein, carbohydrate, fiber and yield content. The results showed that the antioxidant activity of Musa sapientum banana peel flour was 61.26 percent, anthocyanin levels 15.62 mg/100g, carotene 136.61 ppm, water content 6.92, ash content 1.89 percent, fat content 2.82 percent, protein content 5.31 percent, carbohydrate content 73.98 percent, fiber content 40.58 percent and yield 40.05 percent. Organoleptic profile of Musa sapientum donut banana flour with 25 percent of banana peel flour substituent on a scale of 1-5, taste parameters obtained values of 4.37, color 3.36, texture 3.54, aroma 3.68. The conclusion of the research is donuts made from Musa sapientum banana peel flour with 25 percent substituents of banana peel flour having a relatively good phytochemicals, proximate and organoleptic profile on donuts.

Abstract

Research on antioxidant activity and vitamin C levels of dragon fruit and Hylocereus costaricensis dragon fruit syrup from Kulon Progo has been conducted. The purpose of this study was to study the antioxidant activity and levels of vitamin C in dragon fruit meat and dragon fruit syrup from Kulon Progo. The sampling method is done by purposive sampling method. The method of measuring antioxidant activity using DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-picryl Hidrazil) immersion method was measured with a wavelength of 517 nm. The method of determining the level of vitamin C is carried out by the method of titration of Iodimetry using a standard solution of iodine. The results showed that the average antioxidant activity of dragon fruit was 67.81%, whereas in dragon fruit syrup was 42.81%. While the level of vitamin C in dragon fruit is 12.65% while in dragon fruit syrup is 3.667%. Can reduce the levels of antioxidants and vitamin C levels of dragon fruit higher than dragon fruit syrup.

Abstract

Background: Welding is the process of combining two types of metal or other material particles into one by melting and cooling processes. Welding fumes and welding metal fumes have a risk of lung function disorders in welding workers.Objective: This study aimed to discover the relationship between the effect of exposure to welding smoke and pulmonary function disorders in welding workshop workers based on the years of service and the use of PPE (masks).Methods: This research was a literature review using secondary data sources through the Google Scholar and Pubmed databases published in 2010-2020.Results: Vital lung capacity of ≥ 5 years welders have a higher risk of having lung function disorders. Welders who use PPE (masks) as many as 48 workers (21%) and 179 workers (79%) do not use PPE (masks) during the work. Welders who do not consistently wear masks are twice as likely to have lung function disorders. Conclusion: Welders having years of service ≥ 5 years are more at risk of experiencing lung function disorders than years of service < 5 years. The mask usage affects the welders’ lung function health.

Abstract

Tuberculosis cases in adults in the Special Region of Yogyakarta are still quite high. In 2019, data wasobtained that the number of Tuberculosis cases in the Special Region of Yogyakarta in adults was 2,974cases. The results of the GeneXpert examination showed that the most positive cases of Tuberculosis werefound in Yogyakarta City, reaching 1,946 people, then followed by Sleman Regency 1,604 cases, YogyakartaCity 986 cases, Bantul Regency 643 cases, Kulonprogo Regency 177 cases, Gunugkidul Regency 422 cases,Sleman Regency 746 cases. The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of pulmonaryTuberculosis using the Genexpert examination method at the Mlati II Health Center in 2020-2023. Thistype of research is a descriptive analytical study with a cross-sectional approach using secondary data atthe Mlati II Sleman Health Center in 2020-2023. Based on the results of the study, the incidence ofpulmonary tuberculosis was obtained using the Genexpert examination method at the Mlati II SlemanHealth Center in 2020 to 2023 from 587 pulmonary tuberculosis patients, 89 patients were positive and498 patients were negative. Meanwhile, of the 89 positive patients, 52 were male positive patients and 37were female positive patients. Based on the characteristics of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis at theMlati II Sleman Health Center, totaling 89 people, including 4 patients aged 1-5 years, 4 patients aged 6-11years, 20 patients aged 12-25 years, 27 patients aged 26-45 years, 27 patients aged 46-65 years and 7patients aged >65 years. The results of the study showed that the lowest number of patients diagnosedwith tuberculosis was in 2021 with 17 positive patients and 40 negative patients. The Genexpertexamination in 2020 was 18 positive patients (24%). In addition, The results of the study showed that thepercentage of tuberculosis cases from 2020 to 2023 decreased, but the number of cases increased, this wasdue to the increasing population of suspected tuberculosis in 2022 and 2023. The number of suspectedtuberculosis patients in 2020 was 75 cases and in 2021 decreased by 57 cases. The increase occurred in2022 with the number of suspected tuberculosis cases of 200 and in 2023 there were 255 cases.Keywords: Genexpert test, suspect tuberculosis, Suspected TB, Tuberculosis, Molecular Rapid Test,Micobacter

Abstract

Pemeriksaan Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) yang dilaksanakan di sejumlah laboratorium menggunakan metode enzimatis, dimana pengerjaannya dipengaruhi sejumlah faktor yang rentan mempengaruhi hasil. Salah satu faktor yang begitu berpengaruh ialah penyimpanan serum kontrol. Serum kontrol merupakan serum yang digunakan untuk melihat presisi pengujian laboratorium atau akurasi hasil pengujian harian. Serum kontrol yang digunakan di laboratorium khususnya pada pemeriksaan sampel kimia klinik adalah serum kontrol komersial.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil pemeriksaan Low Density Lipoprotein serum kontrol komersial setelah penyimpanan suhu ruang selama 0 dan 7 jam. Metode  yang dipergunakan  ialah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain quasi experimental dan pendekan cross sectional. Hasil yang diperoleh di pemeriksaan Low Density Lipoprotein diferensiasi selisih dan signifikansi  menggunakan uji Independent Sample T-test yang  disimpan selama 0 dan 7 jam sebesar 1,25% dengan p=0,032 memperlihatkan bahwasannya diperoleh perbedaan yang signifikan. Tidak terdapat hasil grafik Levey-Jennings yang melanggar Westgard Rule pada hasil pemeriksaan Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) selama 0 jam dan terdapat hasil grafik Levey-Jennings yang melanggar Westgard Rule pada hasil pemeriksaan Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) dengan serum kontrol komersial selama 7 yaitu aturan 12s dan 13s.  Perlu untuk instansi laboratorium   untuk tidak melakukan penyimpanan bahan kontrol pada suhu ruang 20°-25°C selama lebih dari 6 jam karena dapat mengakibatkan stabilitas kontrol berkurang dan menyebabkan penurunan hasil.

Abstract

Quality control is essential to ensure the accuracy and precision of laboratory test results, including SGOT and SGPT as indicators of liver function. This study aims to evaluate the quality control of SGOT and SGPT examinations using the Six Sigma method at PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Hospital. A descriptive analytic method with a cross-sectional approach was used. The data analyzed consisted of daily control results from July to December 2024 and external quality assurance data. Parameters calculated included mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation (CV), bias (%d), and sigma values. The results showed that SGOT CV values ranged from 2.40% to 3.19%, and SGPT from 2.24% to 3.51%, both within the acceptable limit of <7%. SGOT bias values ranged from 1.80% to 2.95%, and SGPT from 0.35% to 1.52%, within the acceptable ±10%. Sigma values were 4.2 for SGOT and 4.1 for SGPT, indicating marginal laboratory performance. It is concluded that the accuracy and precision of the tests are acceptable. However, to improve quality, it is recommended that two to three levels of control materials be used in regular quality control implementation.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global health problem with a steadily increasing prevalence, including in Indonesia. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) 2021 reported that Indonesia ranks fifth worldwide with approximately 19.5 million people living with DM, projected to exceed 28 million by 2045. This situation highlights blood glucose testing as a key indicator for both diagnosis and therapy monitoring. Validation of measurement methods, either Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) or chemistry analyzer as the laboratory standard, is required to ensure result reliability before clinical implementation. This study aimed to evaluate the precision, agreement, and linear relationship between POCT and chemistry analyzer in random blood glucose testing of patients with type 2 DM. An experimental comparative design was conducted on 30 patients at Mokoyurli General Hospital, Central Sulawesi. Each blood sample was analyzed using both methods with three repetitions.The results showed mean %CV values of 0.83% for POCT and 0.26% for chemistry analyzer, both within the acceptable precision threshold (<2%). Bland–Altman analysis revealed a bias of –14.36 mg/dL with LoA ranging from –33.28 to 4.56 mg/dL. Pearson correlation demonstrated a very strong linear relationship (r = 0.985; p<0.001), while Lin’s CCC of 0.86 indicated moderate agreement. Linear regression identified constant bias (–12.08) and proportional bias (slope 0.95), with POCT consistently reporting lower values, particularly at higher glucose concentrations.Chemistry analyzer exhibited superior precision compared to POCT. Nevertheless, POCT provides clinically acceptable performance for rapid screening, though results at critical values should be confirmed using standard laboratory methods

Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes Mellitus is a carbohydrate metabolism disorder characterized by excess glucose levels in the body and causes one of the kidney complications or Diabetic Nephropathy. Impaired renal function can be treated with hemodialysis and it can be recognized by the detection of ureum and creatinine levels. The study aims to determine the profile of ureum and creatinine levels in diabetic nephropathy patients with hemodialysis. This study employed a quantitative descriptive study with a cross sectional approach with secondary data collection of ureum and creatinine levels. Data was in the form of medical records of diabetic nephropathy patients with hemodialysis at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital. The results of ureum and creatinine levels based on age with mean values respectively in adulthood, 135.47 mg/dL and 9.25 mg/dL while in elderly age respectively 135.95 mg/dL and 9.46 mg/dL. Ureum and creatinine levels in male patients had mean values of 141.08 mg/dL and 11.08 mg/dL respectively while in females the mean values were 131.9 mg/dL and 8.18 mg/dL respectively. Patients undergoing hemodialysis had different levels for old and new patients. Old patients (≥1 year) had mean ureum and creatinine levels of 137.23 mg/dL and 10.04 mg/dL respectively while new patients (<1 year) had mean values of 133.29 mg/dL and 8.27 mg/dL respectively. This study shows that ureum and creatinine levels in Diabetic Nephropathy patients with hemodialysis are higher than normal values. Keywords: Diabetic Nephropathy, Ureum, Creatinine  ABSTRAK Diabetes Melitus merupakan gangguan metabolisme karbohidrat yang ditandai dengan kelebihan kadar glukosa dalam tubuh. diabetes menjadi penyebab salah satu komplikasi ginjal atau Nefropati Diabetik. Gangguan fungsi ginjal dapat dapat diatasi dengan hemodialisis dan ini dapat diketahui dengan deteksi adanya kadar ureum dan kreatinin. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui profil kadar hemoglobin, ureum dan kreatinin pada penderita nefropati diabetik dengan hemodialisis. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi deskriptif kuantitatif pendekatan cross sectional dengan pengambilan data sekunder kadar ureum dan kreatinin. Data berupa rekam medis pasien nefropati diabetik dengan hemodialisis di RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping. Hasil kadar ureum dan kreatinin berdasarkan usia dengan nilai mean masing-masing pada usia dewasa, 135,47 mg/dL dan 9,25 mg/dL sedangkan pada usia lansia masing-masing 135,95 mg/dL dan 9,46 mg/dL. Kadar ureum dan kreatinin pada pasien laki-laki memiliki nilai mean masing-masing 141,08 mg/dL dan 11,08 mg/dL sedangkan pada wanita nilai mean masing-masing yaitu 131,9 mg/dL dan 8,18 mg/dL. Pasien yang menjalani hemodialisis memiliki perbedaan kadar bagi pasien lama dan pasien baru. Pasien lama (≥1 tahun) memiliki kadar ureum dan kreatinin rata-rata yaitu 137,23 mg/dL dan 10,04 mg/dL sedangkan pasien baru (<1 tahun) memiliki nilai mean masing-masing 133,29 mg/dL dan 8,27 mg/dL. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kadar ureum dan kreatinin pasien Nefropati Diabetik dengan hemodialisis lebih tinggi dari nilai normal. Kata Kunci: Nefropati Diabetik, Ureum, Kreatinin
