Abstract

The prevalence of smoking in adolescents has increased from year to year. Smoker awareness is very important inincreasing the success of quitting smoking. The level of knowledge and attitudes is needed for self-managementattitudes for smokers. The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledge and attitudes about smokingcessation among active smokers in the Ketintang Village, Surabaya. The design that will be used in this study isMix-Methods with Convergent Parallel Design. This research was conducted in Ketintang, Surabaya, with theconsideration of the availability of active smokers in a Mosque Youth and Youth Organization organization, whichwas carried out for 2 months starting April 2022 - June 2022. The variables measured in this study included thelevel of knowledge and attitudes of active smokers about quitting smoking. Data collection was carried out by indepth interviews and data were analyzed descriptively. Respondents involved in the study were 40 people. Theaverage respondent has good knowledge (90.00%) and a positive attitude (95.00%). Respondents thought that thetypes of cigarettes according to respondents were ordinary cigarettes (conventional), shisya, and vape. Respondentsthought that the way to quit smoking could be done by making an independent effort to quit, avoiding smokers'surroundings, and replacing conventional cigarettes with electric cigarettes (vape). Therefore, smoking cessationprograms need to be improved, especially for smokers who wish to quit smoking.

Abstract

Penyakit Paru Obstruktif Kronis (PPOK) adalah gangguan pernapasan progresif dengan gejala persisten dan keterbatasan aliran udara, yang menyebabkan morbiditas dan mortalitas tinggi secara global. Defisiensi vitamin D, yang banyak ditemukan pada pasien PPOK, diduga berkontribusi terhadap progresi penyakit dan eksaserbasi akut. Tinjauan ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara kadar vitamin D dan hasil klinis paru pada pasien PPOK melalui sintesis data dari sepuluh penelitian. Data mencakup kadar vitamin D yang diukur melalui 25-hidroksivitamin D (25-OHD) dan fungsi paru yang diukur dengan Forced Expiratory Volume in one second (FEV1) dan Forced Vital Capacity (FVC). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kadar vitamin D rendah berkorelasi dengan penurunan fungsi paru, peningkatan eksaserbasi, dan peningkatan peradangan, yang dapat mempersulit pengelolaan PPOK. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan suplementasi vitamin D dapat meningkatkan FEV1 dan menurunkan frekuensi eksaserbasi, namun hasil penelitian masih beragam. Tinjauan ini menekankan pentingnya pemantauan kadar vitamin D pada pasien PPOK untuk memperlambat progresi penyakit dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup, meskipun diperlukan penelitian lanjutan untuk rekomendasi yang lebih kuat.

Abstract

ABSTRACTRed ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) is a medicinal plant rich in bioactive compounds such as gingerol and shogaol, which possess strong antioxidant activity. Fermentation using the fungus Trichoderma harzianum can enhance the content of these active compounds. This study aims to determine the antioxidant potential of a topical nano spray gel formulation using fermented red ginger extract. The research employed an experimental laboratory method with varying concentrations of fermented red ginger extract at 0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, and 1% in the nano spray gel formulation. Quercetin was used as a positive control. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. Absorbance measurements were conducted using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 400–600 nm, and the IC₅₀ value was determined using a linear regression equation in Microsoft Excel. The test results showed that the formulation with a 0.75% concentration had an IC₅₀ value of 74.84 ppm and was classified as a strong antioxidant based on Blois classification. The higher the extract concentration, the stronger the antioxidant activity, with the optimal point observed at 0.75%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that red ginger fermentation can enhance antioxidant activity, and the nano spray gel is an effective topical dosage form for delivering active compounds to the skin. This research is expected to serve as a reference for the development of topical herbal formulations based on local plants rich in antioxidants.Keywords:  : red ginger, fermented, nano spray gel, antioxidant, DPPH.ABSTRAKJahe merah (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) merupakan tanaman herbal yang kaya akan senyawa bioaktif seperti gingerol dan shogaol yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan tinggi. Fermentasi dengan jamur Trichoderma harzianum dapat meningkatkan kandungan senyawa aktif tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi aktivitas antioksidan dari sediaan topikal nano spray gel yang diformulasikan menggunakan ekstrak fermentasi jahe merah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental laboratorium dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak fermentasi jahe merah sebesar 0%, 0,25%, 0,50%, 0,75%, dan 1% dalam sediaan nano spray gel. Kuersetin digunakan sebagai kontrol positif. Aktivitas antioksidan diuji menggunakan metode DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl). Pengukuran absorbansi dilakukan menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 400-600 nm, untuk menentukan nilai IC₅₀ didapatkan menggunakan persamaan regresi linear menggunakan Microsoft excel. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sediaan dengan konsentrasi 0,75% memiliki nilai IC₅₀ sebesar 74,84 ppm dan tergolong sebagai antioksidan kuat berdasarkan klasifikasi Blois. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak, semakin kuat pula aktivitas antioksidannya hingga titik optimum pada konsentrasi 0,75%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa fermentasi jahe merah mampu meningkatkan aktivitas antioksidan dan sediaan nano spray gel merupakan bentuk sediaan topikal yang efektif untuk mengantarkan senyawa aktif ke kulit. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam pengembangan sediaan herbal topikal berbasis tanaman lokal yang kaya antioksidan.Kata kunci: jahe merah, fermentasi, nano spray gel, antioksidan, DPPH.
