Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemaknaan terhadap budaya seppuku yang terdapat dalam film Letters from Iwo Jima. Film ini mengangkat cerita tentang tentang perjuangan prajurit Jepang pada saat Perang Dunia II. Ketika menghadapi kekalahan, para prajurit Jepang yang ingin tetap mempertahankan harga diri dan kehormatannya memilih jalan seppuku. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis Semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce, yang tandanya terbagi atas icon, index, dan symbol, serta didukung dengan literatur teori komunikasi massa dan literatur kode etik samurai. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa motif seppuku yang dilakukan oleh beberapa karakter di film ini berpedoman pada nilai-nilai bushido.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk spasialisasi dan praktik monopoli yang dilakukan oleh Emtek Group. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dalam kerangka analisis perspektif kritis studi ekonomi politik komunikasi. Teori ekonomi politik komunikasi dari Vincent Mosco digunakan untuk menjelaskan spasialisasi dalam bentuk integrasi horisontal dan integrasi vertikal yang kemudian berdampak pada praktik monopoli dan juga monopsoni. Praktik monopoli, selain mengancam prinsip persaingan usaha yang sehat, juga menimbulkan dampak dominasi konten hiburan di televisi khususnya media milik Emtek Group.

Abstract

Pariwisata merupakan sektor yang tidak bisa lepas dengan entertainment. Wisatawan lokal maupun mancanegara berlomba-lomba mencari objek-objek wisata yang dapat memanjakan mata, menyegarkan hati dan juga pikiran. Untuk itu, media penyampaian yang representatif diperlukan untuk menggambarkan keindahan sebuah objek wisata. Fotografi merupakan salah satu sarana paling populer dalam mempromosikan destinasi pariwisata karena kekuatan visualisasinya. Kegiatan pelatihan ini diberikan kepada pengelola pariwisata di Kampung Paniis agar dapat memaksimalkan media promosinya melalui fotografi. Pelatihan fotografi yang diberikan adalah ‘Smartphone Photography’, sehingga semua anggota dapat mempelajari dan mengaplikasikan materi pelatihan ini.

Abstract

Cybermisogyny is hateful behavior against women on social media. This study aims tofind the forms of cybermisogyny that occur on @viavallen’s Instagram. Descriptive qualitative usedwithin the framework of Teun A. van Dijk’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) which focuses on textanalysis, social cognition, and social context. This research uses gendertrolling theory from Karla Mantilla. The results showed: (1) cybermisogyny that occurred on @viavallen’s Instagram was dominated by online abuse and sexual harassment; (2) message producers tend to be permissiveto harassment behaviors; (3) the dimensions of power and access are the main factors in theoccurrence of cybermisogyny.

Abstract

An ultra-wide angle lens is an “abnormal” type of lens that is capable of capturing scenes with a super vast perspective. The strongest characteristic of this lens is its distortion. Often distortions are seen as imperfections and disasters. However, in the “Widely Project”, distortion is used to create a unique and aesthetic perspective. The aim of this research is to use an ultra-wide angle lens to photograph Museum Bahari Jakarta. The photography project was subsequently utilized to preserve objects in the museum and the architecture of its buildings, which contain the historical story of the archipelago. The results show that ultra-wide angle lens are able to: create an attractive, artistic, and aesthetic perception, a “real” feeling on miniatures, furthermore a majestic atmosphere on ships and buildings.

Abstract

Public interest in political battles is constant, and the Indonesian presidential election in February 2024 is no exception. The three presidential candidates, who have been declared, aggressively establish their political personas and gain exposure and notoriety using Instagram, including @aniesbaswedan, @ganjar_pranowo, and @prabowo. This study aims to dissect the political persona of the 2024 Indonesian presidential candidates using the visual framing analysis method, studying how certain points of view are emphasized or made prominent through visual messages. While other framing studies focus on textual analysis, visual framing analysis is rarely employed even though visual elements have the power to build emotional affection and can last longer in memory. The study's data set comprises Instagram posts from the officially declared presidential contender (@aniesbaswedan from October 3, 2022; @ganjar_pranowo from April 21, 2023; @prabowo from August 12, 2022) to May 21, 2023. The research findings indicate that the political persona built by each presidential candidate still revolves around aspects of their own inherent identity such as religion, race, ethnicity, tribe, customs, habits, education level, economic status, social status, family background, and political stance, rather than providing a clear picture of their priority policy programs when in office.

Abstract

K-pop idols are demanded by agencies and fans based on beauty standards, ideal bodies, how to dress, and self-image. This study aims to describe the forms of K-pop idol standards and the practice of commodifying workers in the video clip “IU – Celebrity.” The Political Economy Theory of Communication from Vincent Mosco is used to see the practice of commodification, using John Fiske's Semiotics analysis method. The results of this study, on: (1) the level of reality, a k-pop idol is required to meet the ideal standards based on the agency as well as fan's wants; (2) representation level, signs at the reality level are transmitted into representational codes such as camera techniques, angles, transitions, video editing, location sets, sound, to special fx; (3) ideological level, it is found that there are capitalistic practices through the commodification of workers towards k-pop idols by the agency in the form of regulating appearance standards, clothing, privacy, and social relations of k-pop idols. This is done by the agency in order to maintain their idol image in accordance with the wishes of fans.

Abstract

Eggshell waste utilization is a potential solution to reduce environmental impacts from organic waste while providing added value to the community. This study aims to develop educational and empowerment methods for communities by transforming eggshell waste into economically valuable products. The program employed participatory approaches to teach communities how to process eggshell waste into creative products such as organic fertilizers, handicrafts, and animal feed additives. The activity held on Creativity and learning centre, Kampung Pemulung, Kampung Sawah, Jalan Pinang Kalijati, wilayah Kelurahan Pondok Labu, Kecamatan Cilandak, Jakarta Selatan. Results indicate that this initiative successfully enhanced community awareness of waste management and contributed to improving their income.ABSTRAKPemanfaatan limbah kulit telur merupakan salah satu solusi untuk mengurangi dampak lingkungan akibat limbah organik sekaligus memberikan nilai tambah kepada masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan metode edukasi dan pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pemanfaatan limbah kulit telur sebagai bahan baku produk bernilai ekonomi. Kegiatan ini melibatkan pendekatan partisipatif untuk mengajarkan masyarakat cara mengolah limbah kulit telur menjadi produk kreatif seperti pupuk organik, bahan kerajinan tangan, dan campuran pakan ternak. Rumah Penyuluhan Kreatif Kampung pemulung Kampung Sawah, Jalan Pinang Kalijati, wilayah Kelurahan Pondok Labu, Kecamatan Cilandak, Jakarta Selatan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa inisiatif ini mampu meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya pengelolaan limbah dan memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat.

Abstract

The idea of developing a region in Indonesia goes beyond building infrastructure, it also involves fostering morale, education, and the cultivation of a positive public opinion. The establishment of such a positive image can be achieved through the use of contemporary popular media, one of which is Instagram. This study aims to explore the digital narrative of the Ekspedisi Patriot program in Teluk Wondama, West Papua, as represented through the Instagram account @patriotwondama. The research adopts a qualitative framework with an artistic research methodology, focusing on the process of creative production. The findings indicate that the content production of @patriotwondama is carried out through the Shape strategy (pre-production, production, and post-production), which is applied across Instagram posts, stories, and reels. The Share phase involves creating engaging content in various formats, collaborating with other creators, ensuring content relevance, avoiding repetitive reposts, and monitoring content insights. The Showcase stage focuses on expressing institutional identity and values, emphasizing Indonesian aspects and socio-cultural positioning that stimulate the audience through the integration of pop culture and traditional culture.
