Abstract

Mobile augmented reality (AR) has evolved from an experimental visualization tool into a mature pedagogical medium that redefines spatial learning in geography education. By embedding digital content into authentic locations, AR fosters experiential and inquiry-driven learning aligned with geography’s spatial and environmental paradigms. Building on evidence from 2015 to 2025, this review synthesizes 138 studies to examine how AR supports cognitive, affective, and behavioral learning dimensions. The analysis reveals that AR enhances spatial reasoning, visualization of abstract processes, and place-based engagement when integrated within robust instructional design frameworks. However, persistent gaps remain in long-term learning assessment, scalability, and teacher competence for authoring AR experiences. Cognitive-load and motivation studies suggest that AR’s benefits are maximized when interactivity and spatial anchoring are balanced with scaffolding. The review proposes a multidimensional model linking technological affordances, pedagogical strategies, and geographic thinking to promote education for sustainability and digital spatial citizenship. Implications for researchers, educators, and developers are discussed to guide future cross-disciplinary innovations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Desa Warbal, Kei Kecil Barat, Southeast Maluku, focusing on achievements and challenges faced within the local context. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that Desa Warbal has made significant progress in the social and economic development pillars, including poverty alleviation, food security, healthcare services, quality education, and basic infrastructure development. However, achievements in environmental and governance pillars remain limited. Key issues include limited access to clean energy, ineffective management of marine and terrestrial environments, vulnerability of settlements to tidal floods, and static village institutions with minimal external partnerships. Internal social conflicts also hinder peaceful and just governance. These findings underscore the importance of holistic and contextual policy interventions, strengthening village institutional capacity, and increasing community participation to ensure comprehensive and sustainable SDGs implementation. This study contributes empirical insights into the dynamics of SDGs implementation in Indonesian coastal villages with unique geographic and social characteristics and provides strategic recommendations for sustainable development policy at the local level

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between social support and academic stress among students at SMA Negeri 11 Ambon. The research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. The study population consisted of 1,514 students, while a sample of 316 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error and selected through proportionate random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire that met the requirements of validity and reliability. Data analysis included descriptive statistics and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis. The findings showed that social support was predominantly in the high category, with 174 students (55.1%), followed by the moderate category with 109 students (34.5%) and the low category with 33 students (10.4%). Meanwhile, academic stress was predominantly in the moderate category, involving 168 students (53.2%), followed by the low category with 87 students (27.5%) and the high category with 61 students (19.3%). The correlation analysis revealed a strong and statistically significant relationship between social support and academic stress (r = -0.612; p 0.001). In other words, the higher the level of social support received from family, peers, teachers, and the school environment, the lower the students’ tendency to experience academic stress.

Abstract

The enrichment program is a learning service provided to students who have achieved or exceeded the minimum mastery criteria, giving them opportunities to broaden and deepen their competencies. This study aims to compare the motivation and Geography learning outcomes of Grade X students at SMA Negeri 6 Maluku Tengah who participated in project-based enrichment and independent-assignment enrichment programs on the topic of the Geosphere Environment. The study employed a comparative quantitative approach with a sample of 28 students selected through purposive sampling. Fourteen students participated in project-based enrichment, while the other 14 students participated in independent-assignment enrichment. Data were collected through learning achievement tests, learning motivation measurements, observations, and documentation, and were then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the project-based enrichment group achieved an average learning motivation score of 84.6 and a posttest score of 88.2, while the independent-assignment group achieved an average learning motivation score of 76.3 and a posttest score of 82.7. A descriptive difference of 8.3 points was found in learning motivation and 5.5 points in learning outcomes. The findings indicate that the project-based group achieved higher descriptive outcomes. Project-based enrichment has the potential to serve as an alternative learning service for students who have already achieved mastery because it provides opportunities to explore, analyze, and apply Geography concepts to environmental phenomena. However, the results cannot yet be interpreted as statistically significant differences because no inferential statistical testing between the groups was conducted.

Abstract

Population dynamics are one of the key factors influencing the social, economic, and spatial changes of a region. Batu Merah Village, located in Sirimau District, is one of the strategic areas in Ambon City, characterized by a high population concentration and intensive socio-economic activities. This study aims to analyze population dynamics and socio-economic changes in the Batu Merah community from a human geography perspective, as well as to explain their relationship with settlement development, basic service needs, economic activities, and environmental vulnerability. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach supported by secondary quantitative data. Data were obtained from government statistical publications, official documents, and relevant previous studies. The analysis was conducted through spatial, demographic, socio-economic, and human–environment interaction approaches. The findings indicate that the high population concentration in Batu Merah has created increasingly complex demands for space and public services. These dynamics are associated with settlement expansion, increasing demand for clean water and infrastructure, the growth of trade and service activities, and greater community exposure to environmental problems, particularly flooding. From the perspective of demographic metabolism, population change concerns not only population size but also shifts in the composition and characteristics of society, which have implications for socio-economic transformation. The findings suggest that the development of Batu Merah requires an integrated approach that combines population management, strengthening of the local economy, improvement of basic services, spatial planning, environmental management, and disaster mitigation.

Abstract

Disaster literacy is an important competency for students, particularly those studying in areas exposed to potential natural hazards. Disaster literacy encompasses not only knowledge of disaster types and causes but also the ability to understand risk, obtain and evaluate disaster-related information, identify mitigation measures, and make appropriate decisions during emergencies. This study aims to analyze the effect of disaster literacy on student preparedness at SMA Negeri 1 Mawasangka Tengah. The study was designed using a quantitative correlational approach. For the purpose of developing a methodological article model, a synthetic dataset consisting of 120 respondents was used. The disaster literacy and preparedness instruments consisted of 20 statements each and employed a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, validity and reliability testing, normality, linearity and heteroscedasticity tests, Pearson correlation, simple linear regression, t-test, and coefficient of determination. The results showed that the mean disaster literacy score was 79.11, while the mean preparedness score was 81.11. The correlation coefficient between the two variables was 0.739 with p 0.001. The regression equation was Y = 27.899 + 0.673X. A t-value of 11.904 with p 0.001 and an R-square value of 0.546 indicated that disaster literacy explained 54.6% of the variation in student preparedness. These imulated findings illustrate that stronger disaster literacy is potentially associated with higher levels of student preparedness. Geography education therefore has an important role in integrating risk knowledge, environmental mapping, evacuation-route understanding, warning systems, and emergency-response exercises.
