Abstract

This research was conducted at the Smart House of the Fajar Sejahtera Indonesia Foundation (YAFSI) in Amplas Village. The study aimed to determine the efforts of volunteers in developing cultural literacy programs at the Smart House of the Fajar Sejahtera Indonesia Foundation (YAFSI) in Amplas Village, to identify the factors causing the low implementation of the Smart House's work program in developing cultural literacy for elementary school children at the Fajar Sejahtera Indonesia Foundation (YAFSI) in Amplas Village, and to assess the impact and benefits of the Smart House program on children and the community. In conducting this research, the researcher chose qualitative research with a descriptive approach. To obtain data, the researcher used interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Triangulation of sources technique was employed to test the validity of the data. The results of this study showed that: 1). The efforts of volunteers in developing cultural literacy work programs have been well-implemented, such as providing understanding and strengthening of cultural literacy, the availability of adequate literacy facilities, and collaboration with other organizational institutions. 2). There are several factors that cause the low implementation of the work program, including the lack of awareness or concern among children about information development related to cultural literacy, limited facilities such as reading materials, mutual understanding, and low interest and motivation among children. Therefore, the presence of the Smart House program aims to direct children to continue developing various literacy activities, especially cultural literacy. Given this, the YAFSI Smart House volunteers have introduced various positive and creative work programs to advance cultural literacy development, such as traditional dance activities, storytelling, singing, reading, and more. 3). The impact and benefits provided by the YAFSI Smart House program include children becoming character-based peer educators, having high literacy attitudes, and implementing various activities reflecting cultural literacy development. The impact and benefits for the community include the ability to transform the community to advance in building businesses and entrepreneurship based on local potential.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social existence of students in using Instagram social media on student lifestyle patterns. Social media supports the public, especially students, in accessing information. The Internet, a commonly used technological device, has the potential to create a whole new type of social connection. This study explores the motivation and impact of Instagram use on the lifestyle of university students. Students who are young people who live stylishly use social media as a means of communication. This research uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach and is analyzed with individual phenomenological descriptions in order to get a comprehensive picture. The research subjects were eighth semester students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. The results showed that students use Instagram to stand out and seek social recognition. The use of Instagram can change mindsets and actions, making some people more creative and interesting, while others continue to show off their possessions, making Instagram a competition arena and the use of Instagram as a medium for student self-existence is due to the lifestyle of students who follow current trends, a sense of wanting to be appreciated and the desire to get recognition by the people around them.

Abstract

The research is entitled The Role of Parents in Reducing Online Game Addiction in Students of SMP Negeri 11 Medan. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the role of parents in reducing online game addiction, how the impact of online game addiction and what are the factors that become obstacles for parents in reducing online game addiction in students of SMP Negeri 11 Medan. The research aims to find out the role of parents in reducing online game addiction, knowing the impact of addiction and knowing the factors that become obstacles for parents in reducing online game addiction in students of SMP Negeri 11 Medan. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach where this research uses Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that the role of parents is very important for the growth of children, therefore parents must do several things so that children are not addicted to gadgets and online games including: by mentoring, supervision and open communication. Efforts to avoid the use of gadgets and online games in it are by the way each parent must take several actions or preventive measures to minimize the use of cell phones in children, by limiting time, making commitments from the beginning with children so that in children there will be a sense of responsibility and think they have a promise with their parents that they should not break. It can be concluded that the factors that influence online gaming are the frequency of playing online games, the time of playing online games, and the games or games that are favored.

Abstract

The internet in the digital era has become important in everyday life. It has become a familiar thing when people spend more of their time doing online activities. The features contained in social media are also increasingly diverse. One of them is the hashtag symbol or in English is Hashtags (#). to determine the relationship between the use of the hashtag #samasamabelajar and the information needs of 7th semester library science students. In this research, researchers used quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. Where the data collected will be processed using SPSS. The population is 400 7th semester library science students who use Tiktok at the Faculty of Social Sciences, North Sumatra State Islamic University with a total sample of 50 people. The results of this research are that there is a relationship between the use of #samasamabelajar via TikTok social media and the information needs of 7th semester library science students students. With p value = 0.000. Conclusion: The hashtag #samasamalearn can be used and is very useful for students in finding the information they need, especially in learning various things.
