Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of differentiated learning processes on the social mathematical skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Medan. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research with the research population being all class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Medan. With a simple random sampling technique, a sample of class VIII-10 was obtained with 32 students. The instruments used were questionnaires and observations that had been tested for prerequisites in advance. After the differentiated learning process treatment was carried out, the results of the calculation of the learning quality questionnaire sheet reached an effectiveness category of 56% (moderate), the results of the calculation of the social skills questionnaire sheet reached an effectiveness category of 66% (moderate), the results of the calculation of the observation sheet for the suitability of the learning level to teacher activities obtained an average of 3.476 (good), the results of the calculation of the observation sheet on student activities obtained an average of 3.039 (good), the results of the calculation of the time allocation observation sheet obtained an average of 4 (good). Based on the quality of learning, the suitability of the learning level and time allocation, differentiated learning is effective for the social mathematical skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an improvement in students' mathematical representation ability through the implementation of the Discovery Learning model assisted by MATLAB in Grade X at SMA Swasta Parulian 1 Medan. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis & McTaggart model, which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of several stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 32 students from Class X-2 at SMA Swasta Parulian 1 Medan. Data collection techniques involved teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, and mathematical representation ability tests. The results showed that the implementation of the Discovery Learning model assisted by MATLAB in trigonometry material could enhance students' mathematical representation ability. The percentage of students achieving classical learning mastery at the end of Cycle I was 15.62%, which then increased to 71.875% at the end of Cycle II. The improvement in students' mathematical representation ability from the beginning of Cycle I to Cycle II was categorized as medium, with an average N-Gain of 0.474. The results of teacher activity observations reached the "very good" criteria at the end of Cycle II, with an average score of 94, while student activity observations also achieved the "very good" criteria at the end of Cycle II, with an average score of 94.44.

Abstract

Dari berbagai fakta tersebut telah dilakukan penelitian ini dengan tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan keterampilan proses sains dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan menerapankan model pembelajaran Inquiry Training berbasis teknologi informasi dan komunikasi, dengan penerapan model pembelajaran Inquiry Training. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi experimen atau yaitu perlakuan terhadap dua variabel (kelas), satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen yang diberikan perlakuan dengan penerapan model pembelajaran Inquiry Training berbasis teknologi informasi dan komunikasi dan kelas yang lain sebagai kelas kontrol melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Inquiry Training.  Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa model pembelajaran Inquiry Training berbasis teknologi informasi dan komunikasi secara signifikan dapat lebih meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran Inquiry Training. Data hasil penelitian mendapatkan Ngain keterampilan proses sains kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,84 (kategori tinggi) dan Ngain kelas kontrol sebesar 0,68 (kategori sedang). Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan model pembelajaran Inquiry training berbasis teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang diterapkan pada kelas eksperimen secara signifikan dapat lebih meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dibandingkan dengan model pembelajaran inquiry training yang diterapkan pada kelas kontrol.
