Abstract

Newton's laws are fundamental concepts in mechanics and serve as the foundation for various other topics in physics. However, mastering these concepts remains a challenge for university students. This study aims to analyze the difficulties experienced by students in understanding Newton's laws. The research method employed is descriptive quantitative, involving 35 first-year physics education students. The instrument used was the Force Concept Inventory (FCI), consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions with five answer options each. Data analysis was conducted by identifying items where students' posttest answer percentages were below 50%. Crosstabulation was used to observe shifts in students' answers from the pretest to the posttest, followed by descriptive analysis. The study revealed several difficulties encountered by students regarding Newton's laws, including challenges in understanding the concept of resultant velocity of moving objects, the distinction between velocity and acceleration (Newton’s Second Law), and Newton’s Third Law. These findings are based on the analysis of FCI items number 8, 13, and 26.

Abstract

Abstract

Physics learning is considered challenging because it involves abstract concepts that are difficult for students to understand, for example the material on the solar system. Interactive learning innovations use the Solar System Scope application as an effective learning medium in understanding the concept of the solar system. This study aims to describe the use of interactive web technology such as Solar System Scope as a learning medium for the solar system in class VI of Public Elementary School Suryodiningratan 3. The research approach uses qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study showed that students were interested and found it easier to understand the material on the solar system. This innovation increases interest in learning, makes it easier to understand physics concepts, and encourages active student involvement in the learning process. The use of 3D visualization, interactive simulations, and exploration features allows students to learn the structure, motion, and characteristics of planets and the solar system in an interesting and amazing way. This innovation is expected to be an effective solution in supporting more modern and relevant physics learning.

Abstract

This research aims to develop AI-based learning media integrated with the concept of bakpia in learning Physics on the topic of Temperature and Heat for students in senior high school. The research method used is the research and development (R & D) method with the 4D model modified into 3D, namely define, design, and develop because the main focus is the feasibility test. The integration of the bakpia concept with AI, Perplexity and ChatGPT, is in one phase of the syntax of the learning model that exists in each learning media. The resulting product has been tested and assessed through a feasibility test by 2 validators, namely lecturers who are material experts and media experts. The feasibility test results of learning media on the topic of Temperature and Heat in the form of E-Worksheet was 1.97, E-Module 1.84, and E-Book 2.01, all of which are in the feasible category. Based on this, it can be concluded that the AI-based learning media integrated with the bakpia concept on the topic of Temperature and Heat developed can improve the physics identity and 21st century skills of students in Senior High School as measured by questionnaires, observations, and written tests when this product is developed more widely

Abstract

Informal learning that takes place in the family environment is very important for children. Moreover, children's basic understanding and experience of living things around them by using the environment as a medium is a provision for continuing formal education. This is in line with the research objectives, namely to determine the application of the field trip method to support elementary school children's learning in understanding science material with a focus on animals as living things. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The data collection method is through observation, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, the stages of data analysis techniques include data reduction, data exposure, and conclusion drawing as well as verification. The research subjects were parents and children. The researcher also observed one of the educational tourist attractions in Yogyakarta as a family target in supporting informal learning, namely Gembira Loka zoo. The results of the observation stated that in the Gembira Loka zoo in Yogyakarta there were facilities and rides that could be used by visitors, especially parents and children, in learning science. On the other hand, from the interview, it was found that the field trip method to Gembira Loka zoo fully supports informal learning because it provides meaningful understanding and direct experience to children. Thus, this research can be a reference for families to apply the field trip method in learning science.

Abstract

Many pre-service teachers in Teacher Professional Education (PPG) programs lack the competence to develop effective teaching materials aligned with curriculum goals. Understanding by Design (UbD) offers a structured approach to support this development through backward design. This study employed a quantitative research design using purposive sampling to select 116 PPG students as respondents. Data were collected via an online questionnaire distributed through Google Forms. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. Findings reveal that UbD effectively supports the development of Subject Specific Pedagogy (SSP) through its three core stages: identifying desired learning outcomes, designing appropriate assessments and tasks, and planning targeted learning activities. Respondents demonstrated increased competence in aligning instructional strategies with learning objectives through this framework. The results suggest that UbD provides a practical model for guiding teachers in curriculum-aligned material development. The structured approach helps educators better understand learning goals and translate them into classroom practice. UbD is an effective framework for improving PPG students’ mastery of Subject Specific Pedagogy. It is recommended that teacher training programs integrate UbD principles into their instructional models. Teachers are also encouraged to continuously refine their teaching strategies in line with evolving curriculum demands.
