Transfer Pricing and Tax Avoidance: A Narrative Review of Global Strategies and Regulatory Challenges Jakfar; Nuraini, Fariha

Abstract

This narrative review investigates how transfer pricing is strategically utilized by multinational enterprises to facilitate international tax avoidance. The study aims to assess the role of pricing arrangements between related entities in shifting profits to low-tax jurisdictions. Using a comprehensive narrative methodology, literature was gathered from databases such as Scopus and Google Scholar, applying specific keywords and inclusion criteria to identify relevant empirical and conceptual studies. The review identifies a pattern of aggressive transfer pricing behavior, particularly in industries dominated by intangible assets, including technology and pharmaceuticals. These sectors exploit gaps in regulatory frameworks, enabled by the vague implementation of the arm’s length principle. Regulatory interventions such as advance pricing agreements, while theoretically sound, often fail in practice due to institutional weaknesses, especially in developing countries. The discussion further reveals that systemic limitations—such as inadequate legal infrastructure, lack of transparency, and poor data access—contribute significantly to tax base erosion. Findings emphasize the need for harmonized global standards, enhanced international cooperation, and more equitable profit allocation mechanisms. The implications of unregulated transfer pricing extend beyond lost revenue to issues of income inequality and weakened public finance. This study concludes that addressing transfer pricing challenges requires structural reform, institutional strengthening, and sustained global collaboration.
Strategic Alignment of Value Co Creation Models: A Comparative Analysis of Servitized Manufacturing and Pure Service Firms Jakfar

Abstract

This study investigates the comparative dynamics of value co-creation models in servitized manufacturing firms and pure service firms. The research identifies sector-specific strategies that enhance innovation and competitiveness, with particular attention to governance, ecosystem engagement, and brand management practices. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining secondary data analysis with a comparative framework grounded in Service-Dominant Logic (SDL) and the DART model. Four manufacturing co-creation models were evaluated against practices in service firms using metrics such as innovation velocity, customer retention, and revenue contribution. The findings show that in manufacturing, the Double High and Servitization Leading models deliver stronger performance when supported by ecosystem engagement and effective governance. Service firms, by contrast, thrive through broader networks, agility, and continuous interaction, enabling rapid adaptation and personalization. Across both sectors, governance mechanisms and brand coherence are critical to sustaining trust, efficiency, and alignment with customer expectations. The study concludes that co-creation is a sector-dependent strategic discipline. Tailored strategies, aligned with governance and ecosystem realities, can generate sustainable competitive advantages. Future research should examine how emerging technologies, cross-sector collaborations, and cultural contexts shape the evolution of co-creation models.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of green technologies into circular economy systems as a pathway to advancing sustainable innovation. The objective was to synthesize existing literature to identify key strategies, challenges, and implications across diverse industrial and geographical contexts. A narrative review methodology was employed, drawing on peer-reviewed sources indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The results highlight four main themes: product design and eco-innovation, renewable energy and photovoltaics, biomaterials and lignin applications, and sustainable business models. Evidence shows that lifecycle assessment tools and decision-making frameworks enhance eco-design. Advancements in solar technologies promote decarbonization but face storage and recycling challenges. Lignin valorization offers significant promise yet is constrained by technical and scalability issues. Circular business models provide systemic benefits, but their effectiveness varies depending on regulatory environments, cultural acceptance, and financial structures. The review concludes that strengthening design strategies, renewable energy deployment, biomaterial innovations, and business model adaptation are essential to overcoming systemic challenges and achieving sustainable economic transitions.

Abstract

Indonesia’s remote regions face persistent logistical challenges due to geographic fragmentation, infrastructure deficits, and limited digital adoption. This study examines the determinants of logistics distribution efficiency in Alor District, East Nusa Tenggara, using survey data from 150 respondents including logistics operators, government officials, and recipients. Descriptive and inferential analyses, including correlation and multiple linear regression, reveal that logistics information technology is the most influential factor (r = 0.71; β = 0.35), followed by infrastructure quality (r = 0.62; β = 0.28) and supply chain coordination (r = 0.55; β = 0.22), all significant at p < 0.05. These findings highlight the critical role of digital transformation in improving distribution efficiency in archipelagic regions. Practical recommendations include expanding internet connectivity in rural islands, providing digital literacy training for logistics actors, and developing integrated coordination platforms at the district level. Limitations of this study include reliance on self-reported data, potential non-response bias, and the focus on a single district, which may affect generalizability. Future research should incorporate longitudinal data and cross-district comparisons to strengthen evidence on logistics innovation in remote areas.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of green logistics strategies in freight transportation at Soekarno Hatta Port, Makassar. Data were collected over three months (July–September 2024) through in-depth interviews with 15 informants, participatory observation, and document analysis. Informants represented port authorities, logistics operators, truck drivers, government officials, and academics. Findings show that 9 of 15 informants at managerial level demonstrated high awareness of green logistics, while most operational staff (6 drivers and dock operators) had limited knowledge. Existing initiatives include optimized truck scheduling to reduce idle time and partial electrification of cargo handling equipment. However, barriers such as the lack of electric vehicle infrastructure, absence of regional regulations, and limited sustainability training hinder broader adoption. The study recommends integrating digital emission monitoring, introducing regional fiscal incentives, and developing targeted training programs. By addressing these gaps, Soekarno Hatta Port could become a pioneering model for sustainable logistics in Eastern Indonesia. This research contributes empirically to the discourse on port sustainability by providing localized insights applicable to other regional ports.

Abstract

Background: The work environment is a critical determinant of employee performance, particularly in air cargo logistics where accuracy, speed, and consistency are essential. Despite the increasing focus on technological and automation strategies, environmental conditions remain relatively underexplored. Objective: This study aims to examine the influence of workplace environmental factors on employee performance in the warehouse division of PT Aerojasa Cargo, Jakarta. Method: A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with 55 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a structured Likert-scale questionnaire measuring five environmental factors (cleanliness, lighting, air circulation, workspace layout, and team collaboration) and five dimensions of performance (accuracy, timeliness, quality, quantity, and neatness). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression. Results: The findings reveal that 69.9% of the variance in employee performance is explained by workplace environmental conditions (R² = 0.699; p < 0.01). Cleanliness and team collaboration emerged as the strongest predictors across all performance dimensions, while lighting and workspace layout also showed significant contributions. Conclusion: A conducive work environment plays a pivotal role in enhancing warehouse employee performance. Practical implications include continuous investment in cleanliness programs, ergonomic workspace redesign, and participatory evaluation mechanisms. Future research should adopt multi-site and longitudinal approaches to strengthen generalizability.
