Abstract

Eco-enzymes are liquid products resulting from the fermentation of organic wastes such as fruit and vegetable wastes, sugar, and water. The aim of this study is to investigate the potential of eco-enzymes as liquid organic fertilizers using organic waste from orange and pineapple peels. In the experimental design, he used a completely randomized design with three replicates of three organic waste compositions. The treatments used are pineapple peel, orange peel, and a mixture of pineapple and orange peel. Ecoenzyme is prepared by mixing organic waste with water and molasses in a ratio of 10: 3: 1 and fermenting it for 30, 60 and 90 days. The results showed that the composition of pineapple and orange peel produced an eco-enzyme solution with the highest nitrogen content, highest amylase enzyme activity, and highest acidic pH. The color of eco-enzyme varies from light brown to dark brown, and the resulting sour aroma indicates that the fermentation process is progressing smoothly.

Abstract

This research analyzes teacher performance in developing Integrated Social Sciences teaching materials at SMPN 7 Medan. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. The interview results show that teachers are able to organize teaching material by combining various fields of study, such as Geography, Economics, History and Sociology, by agreeing on a theme first before presenting it to students. The development of Geography teaching materials, which is considered more difficult than other fields of study, is carried out with a longer time allocation and the use of local resources. In teaching methods, teachers apply fun approaches such as discussion, Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL), Quantum Teaching, and inquiry to increase student involvement and encourage critical thinking. However, obstacles in developing teaching materials, especially Geography material, are overcome by enriching literacy and utilizing learning methods based on group discussions and case studies. Integrated social studies learning at SMPN 7 Medan becomes more effective and relevant to students' daily lives thanks to the contextual approach applied by the teacher.

Abstract

Clean water is a basic necessity that not only affects health but also social welfare and environmental sustainability. The aim of this research is to evaluate the level of public awareness in the Tegal Sari Mandala II sub-district regarding the use of clean water for household purposes and to identify the factors that influence public awareness in the utilization of clean water in the Tegal Sari Mandala II village. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive evaluative method. Data in this study were collected through interview techniques, observation, and document studies, and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that community awareness in the Tegal Sari Mandala II sub-district is quite good, but the availability of clean water in this area is still limited due to the scheduling of PAM water distribution, which is from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, making it difficult for residents to meet their clean water needs for household use.

Abstract

Spatial analysis is important for understanding how service facilities are distributed in a region and identifying key locations within that area. This study examines the layout of service facilities and trends in centrality in Labuhan Batu Regency, employing the Scalogram Method in conjunction with Centrality Analysis. The Scalogram Method evaluates the variations and access levels of service facilities to classify sub-districts according to their hierarchical positions, while Centrality Analysis determines important areas that greatly influence spatial dynamics and the delivery of services. The findings show significant variations in the ranking of services and regional importance, with Rantau Utara recognized as the primary service center, attaining the top scores in both the scalogram and centrality evaluations. In addition, Bilah Hulu and Rantau Selatan demonstrate significant spatial impact, enhancing their functions as secondary service hubs. In comparison, areas such as Panai Hilir, Panai Hulu, and Pangkatan are rated lower in terms of service order and importance, highlighting the need for enhanced infrastructure and improved distribution of services. The classification of centrality into four distinct categories creates an organized method for comprehending spatial impact, highlighting the distinctions between primary service centers and less central areas. These results emphasize the importance of fair regional development, indicating the need for specific policies to increase access to services, strengthen connections between regions, and promote balanced infrastructure development. By combining findings from the Scalogram and Centrality Analysis, this study provides valuable viewpoints for regional planning, presenting essential suggestions to improve service distribution and promote spatial equality in Labuhan Batu Regency

Abstract

Nagari Sumpur is a local tourism village that still has Minangkabau cultural heritage. However, the main challenge is the lack of participation of the younger generation in preserving customs and the need for a balance between modernization and preservation of tradition in tourism management. This commitment is intended to determine the potential of local wisdom that can be integrated into sustainable tourism and culture-based management strategies. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach that includes direct observation, interviews with traditional managers, tourism managers, communities, tourists, and data analysis related to the sustainability of cultural tourism. The results of the commitment indicate that traditions such as Landai, traditional Silat and makan bajamba can be packaged as part of a tourism program to increase attraction and at the same time maintain cultural identity. With the right strategy, Nagari Sumpur can develop as a model for sustainable local wisdom-based tourism villages.

Abstract

Goa Ergendang, a unique geo-cultural site in Deli Serdang, Indonesia, possesses significant ecotourism potential, including natural hot springs, stalactites, and rich local folklore (the Umang mythos). However, its development is severely hindered by informal community self-management, poor infrastructure, and a critical lack of spatial information for visitors. This research aims to (1) identify the fundamental challenges in its sustainable management and (2) formulate an integrated management model based on a geo-anthropological approach. This study employed a mixed-method design, integrating quantitative spatial analysis (GIS) with qualitative socio-cultural analysis. Methods included GIS mapping for accessibility, topography, and potential zoning, combined with in-depth interviews with local managers, stakeholders, and visitors. The findings reveal four primary challenges: (1) weak institutional capacity due to informal management, leading to resource limitations and poor heritage protection (e.g., the destruction of the "sacred drum stone"); (2) severeĀ  infrastructural barriers, particularly damaged access roads; (3) a critical spatial information gap, evidenced by 16 hidden pools remaining unknown to visitors due to a lack of maps; and (4) high physical vulnerability from steep topography and corrosive acidic water. This research proposes a sustainable management model based on Community-Based Ecotourism (CBT) supported by GIS planning. In this model, GIS functions as the objective physical planning tool for conservation zoning and visitor navigation, while a formalized community institution (e.g., BUMDes/Village-Owned Enterprise) acts as the socio-cultural manager, responsible for revitalizing local culture (Ergendang and Umang myths) as a core attraction. This integrated geo-anthropological model provides a clear pathway to optimize the area's unique potential sustainably.
