Abstract

The integration of Virtual Reality (VR) and immersive technologies in communication is reshaping how individuals engage, interact, and learn across various sectors. This narrative review explores the applications and challenges of VR in education, healthcare, marketing, and cultural heritage communication. The study aimed to analyze current literature to uncover the transformative potential and limitations of VR-based communication practices. The review utilized a comprehensive literature search in databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar using keywords including "Virtual Reality," "Immersive Communication," "Augmented Reality," and "Narrative Review." Inclusion criteria prioritized peer-reviewed studies from 2010 to 2024 focusing on VR applications in communication contexts. Studies unrelated to communication, non-empirical works, and unpublished materials were excluded. Results show that VR enhances learning outcomes, social-emotional skills, and engagement in educational settings; improves therapeutic communication and patient care in healthcare; strengthens brand engagement in marketing; and facilitates access to cultural content globally. However, key challenges remain, including infrastructure limitations, cost barriers, social adaptation, and regulatory issues. Factors such as policy support, stakeholder training, and equitable design are vital for broader adoption. This review emphasizes the strategic role of VR in modern communication while calling for interdisciplinary research and policy reforms to ensure ethical and inclusive deployment. Addressing these systemic and contextual barriers is essential to realizing VR’s full potential.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the condition of coral reefs based on benthic composition in the shallow waters of Tanjung, Senggigi Beach, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Data collection was carried out through diving using the Underwater Photo Transect (UPT) method by analyzing 50 quadrat photos taken along a 50-meter transect line, processed with the CPCe software. The analysis revealed that live coral (Coral) was the most dominant benthic component, with an average cover of 91.38% ± 13.72%, which falls under the "very good" category. Macroalgae and abiotic components such as sand and coral rubble were present but in very small proportions. The coral community was dominated by complex growth forms such as Acropora tabular, Acropora branching, Coral foliose, and Coral massive, which are known for their relatively fast growth and adaptability to clear water with stable substrates. These findings indicate that the reef ecosystem in the waters of Tanjung Senggigi is in very good condition and provide a scientific foundation for developing effective management and conservation strategies for the area.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penyebaran berita bohong terkait Bantuan subsidi upah (BSU) yang di lakukan di media sosial dalam platform Facebook dan menanggulangi penyebaran berita bohong yang dilakukan lembaga Kementerian Ketenagakerjaan (Kemnaker), BPJS Ketenagakerjaan dan Kantor Pos Indonesia (Pospay)  terkait bantuan subsidi upah (BSU). Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode netnografi yang digunakan untuk menganalisis budaya dan interaksi masyarakat di ruang digital. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mengatasi berita palsu tentang bantuan subsidi upah BSU di Facebook membutuhkan kerja sama antara pemerintah, organisasi masyarakat sipil, dan lembaga lokal. Pemerintah memberikan kedaulatan resmi, organisasi masyarakat sipil memperkuat peran masyarakat, sedangkan lembaga lokal mempercepat distribusi klarifikasi di tingkat daerah. Dengan kerja sama yang kolaboratif seperti ini, ekosistem informasi yang sehat dapat dibangun sehingga masyarakat lebih tahan terhadap misinformasi.

Abstract

Absensi karyawan merupakan proses pendataan kehadiran yang berlangsung setiap harinya di PT. Codepolitan Integrasi Indonesia, hal ini dilakukan agar dapat membantu dalam proses rekap kehadiran karyawan. Pengelolaan tersebut masih bersifat manual yang menyebabkan ketidakefektifan dalam melakukan absensi untuk memudahkan pengelolaan data karyawan. Dibutuhkan teknologi bernama geolocation, oleh karena itu penulis membuat suatu aplikasi berbasis web dengan memanfaatkan geolocation untuk membantu proses absensi karyawan di PT. Codepolitan Integrasi Indonesia. Dengan menggunakan teknologi geolocation suatu sistem mempunyai kemampuan untuk menentukan posisi suatu objek atau orang yang berada di bumi dengan menggunakan koordinat geografis (latitude dan longitude). Penerapan geolocation pada aplikasi digunakan sebagai pengaman aplikasi dimana pada aplikasi ditentukan lokasi titik koordinat dengan titik radius maksimal 1 kilometer. Oleh karenanya penulis membuat aplikasi absensi online dengan metode geolocation. Sistem ini terbukti dapat diterima dengan baik oleh karyawan PT. Codepolitan Integrasi Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of product quality, product design and promotion partially and simultaneously on iPhone product purchase decisions on students in Yogyakarta. This research included correlational research. The population of this research was all Yogyakarta students who have bought iPhone products and iPhone users. The research sample was 100 respondents. Data collection techniques used a questionnaire. Data analysis technique used descriptive statistical test, classical assumption test used normality test, multicollinearity test, and heteroscedasticity test, and hypothesis test using multiple regression analysis. The results showed that there was a positive and significant effect of product quality, product design and promotion partially and simultaneously on the purchasing decisions of iPhone products for students in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The significant growth of the men's facial care market in Indonesia has triggered dynamic shifts that challenge the traditional hegemonic masculinity construction in the digital space. This study aims to deeply analyze how three prominent men's facial care brands (Kahf, MS Glow for Men, and Nivea Men) construct images of masculinity through their digital communication strategies, and to identify the patterns of meaning acceptance and negotiation by the audience. Employing a qualitative netnography approach, the core finding reveals that, instead of collapsing, hegemonic masculinity is locally negotiated, resulting in the conceptual model of Locally Negotiated Masculinity. This digital masculinity only accepts grooming practices through three strict justification mechanisms: Functional Justification (linking appearance as Professional Somatic Capital), Spiritual Justification (as Pious Consumption), and Non androgyny Boundary Negotiation which explicitly rejects the East Asian flower boy image. This model serves as a theoretical contribution to gender and digital communication studies in Southeast Asia, challenging Western metrosexual perspectives. The practical implication is that brands must integrate functional and spiritual narratives to legitimize the use of their products in this culturally sensitive market.
