Abstract

This research focuses on the development of a SketchUp-based student worksheet using a project-based learning approach to support geometry learning in junior high school. The study responds to the lack of visual media in conventional mathematics instruction, particularly in representing three-dimensional objects. The development process followed the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. At the Define stage, a needs analysis revealed students’ difficulties in spatial reasoning and their preference for visual learning. SketchUp was selected for its capability to model 3D objects interactively. The product was validated by two experts, resulting in an average score of 89% for content and 87% for media, both categorized as “very feasible.” A limited trial involving 18 ninth-grade students showed an average feasibility score of 80.3%, indicating positive student responses. Although some improvements are needed in the clarity of instructions, the integration of SketchUp and project-based learning shows potential to enhance student engagement and learning experiences in geometry. The study supports the development of innovative, curriculum-aligned digital learning media.

Abstract

Interviews with mathematics teachers revealed issues related to the need for concrete, varied, and contextually relevant learning materials. The availability of concrete media remains limited in both quantity and utilization in mathematics instruction. Current technological developments offer opportunities for innovation in the creation of 3D learning media that can be viewed, interacted with, and manipulated by students. An innovative solution is the development of 3D mathematics learning media using 3D printing technology. Therefore, a community service program was implemented to address the identified problem through this innovation. The program consisted of training mathematics teachers in designing and producing 3D mathematics learning media using 3D printing. The partner involved in this activity was the Mathematics Teacher Working Group (MGMP) of Junior High School "Cosinus" in Palangka Raya City. The training aimed to provide knowledge on the design and production of 3D mathematics learning media through 3D printing technology. Conducted in two sessions, the training yielded satisfactory results, as evidenced by improvements in all observed aspects among participating mathematics teachers. Furthermore, it was concluded that 3D printing training for the development of mathematics learning media was effectively implemented.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan tahapan pemecahan masalah calon guru matematika pada masalah Geometri: Parabola ditinjau dari kecerdasan logis matematis. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain penelitian fenomenologis. Penelitian ini melibatkan 3 calon guru matematika dari FKIP UPR dengan pemilihan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes, angket dan wawancara. Berdasarkan penelitian bahwa calon guru matematika dengan kecerdasan logis matematis hanya menjalankan tahap pemecahan masalah yaitu membaca dan berpikir, meskipun tidak tepat. Calon guru matematika dengan kecerdasan logis matematis sedang menjalankan tahap pemecahan masalah yaitu 1) membaca dan berpikir; dan 2) mengeksplorasi dan merencanakan dengan baik. Mereka juga dapat melakukan tahapan pemecahan masalah 3) memilih strategi pemecahan masalah; dan 4) memecahkan masalah/ mencari suatu jawaban, namun strategi pemecahan masalah dan hasil pemecahan masalah yang diperoleh tidak tepat. Calon guru matematika dengan kecerdasan logis matematis tinggi mampu melakukan semua tahap pemecahan masalah dengan baik.
