Abstract

This research aims to analyze the character-based curriculum model in efforts to prevent bullying, bullying prevention curriculum in elementary schools. This research is research using qualitative methods and also through a literature study approach that analyzes the emphasis on a descriptive approach. The data sources used come from scientific articles published in the last 10 years. Articles were collected via Google Scholar with the keywords character education, bullying, elementary school. This data was also obtained through observation, interviews with teachers and parents as well as students who experienced bullying at school. The results of this research are The Systematic Action-Research Curriculum Model which is considered to be able to be used as a character-based curriculum development so that children's bullying behavior can be overcome. The Systematic Action-Research Model can be used through evaluation and improvement planning activities, where each stage can be carried out regularly.

Abstract

Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi di era globalisasi menuntut dunia pendidikan untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan kebutuhan keterampilan abad ke-21. Salah satu pendekatan yang dinilai efektif untuk mendukung hal tersebut adalah pendekatan tematik berbasis keterampilan abad 21, khususnya di sekolah bilingual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan pendekatan tematik berbasis keterampilan abad 21 dalam pembelajaran Science berbahasa Inggris di SDIT Plus Aulia Kids School, Medan, serta mengidentifikasi kendala dan upaya yang dilakukan dalam penerapannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara semi-terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan tematik diterapkan dengan mengaitkan materi Science pada tema-tema yang relevan dengan kehidupan siswa, didukung oleh buku Cambridge dan berbagai media pembelajaran interaktif. Pembelajaran dirancang berbasis student-centered dan project based learning, yang melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis, kreativitas, komunikasi, dan kolaborasi siswa (4C skills). Penggunaan bahasa Inggris dilakukan secara mix language untuk memudahkan pemahaman siswa. Secara umum, penerapan pendekatan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman materi dan keterampilan abad 21 siswa, meskipun masih terdapat kendala dalam hal keterbatasan kosakata siswa, perbedaan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris, keterbatasan waktu. Untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut dapat melakukan beberapa strategi yaitu, meningkatkan kosakata bahasa inggris siswa, berlatih komunikasi dengan bahasa inggris, pengelompokan siswa secara heterogen, dan pemanfaatan Teknologi. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan dalam pengembangan model pembelajaran di sekolah bilingual lainnya.

Abstract

The prevalence of bullying at SDIT ABFA Pamekasan indicates a lack of students’ understanding of cultural philosophies that can prevent such behavior. This study arises from the urgency of increasing bullying cases in elementary schools and the need for preventive approaches that are culturally grounded. The purpose of this research is to analyze students’ understanding of the value of courage based on Madurese culture, to examine the process of internalizing these values, and to identify their impact on both perpetrators and victims of bullying. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with teachers, the principal, students, and parents, as well as documentation. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results revealed that: (1) for perpetrators, courage based on Madurese culture is interpreted as a means to uphold self-respect and avoid humiliation; whereas for victims, courage means staying calm and not retaliating against the bully. (2) The internalization of courage values occurs through three stages: providing understanding, habituating positive attitudes, and applying them in daily life. This study contributes to bullying prevention efforts in elementary schools through a culturally rooted approach that strengthens students’ character based on Madurese values of courage.
