Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pengalaman Generasi Z dalam menggunakan media sosial sebagai sarana ekspresi diri. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara terhadap 9 responden yang merupakan mahasiswa generasi Z dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Generasi Z memanfaatkan media sosial tidak hanya untuk mengonsumsi dan membagikan konten, tetapi juga sebagai ruang ekspresi diri dan pembentukan identitas. Media sosial dipahami sebagai wadah hiburan, komunikasi, sekaligus arena yang memungkinkan kontrol atas citra diri. Namun, kebebasan tersebut diiringi hambatan berupa kurang percaya diri dan kecemasan terhadap komentar negatif. Perbedaan ekspresi di media sosial yang lebih terkontrol dibandingkan kehidupan nyata yang lebih spontan menegaskan bahwa pengalaman Generasi Z di media sosial merupakan proses negosiasi identitas yang kompleks.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perception of prospective teachers toward authoritarian teaching styles in elementary schools, focusing on two potential impacts: the formation of discipline and the emergence of fear in students. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with prospective elementary school teachers to explore their perceptions of the effectiveness and risks of authoritarian teaching styles in classroom management. Data were collected through direct interviews with 12 prospective teachers who shared their experiences, observations, and reflections on how this approach may influence student behavior and the learning environment. The findings reveal that prospective teachers view authoritarian teaching styles as effective in fostering discipline, order, and obedience among students. However, they also express concerns about the potential negative effects, such as fear, reduced student comfort, and limited participation in class activities. These perceptions highlight the need to balance discipline and psychological safety in elementary education, ensuring that teaching methods support both academic structure and emotional well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze junk food consumption habits among students in the Elementary School Teacher Education Program (PGSD), focusing on consumption patterns, preferences, triggering situations, and their impacts on health and productivity. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected through closed-ended questionnaires from 30 female PGSD students from the 2023 cohort, most of whom live in boarding houses (kosan). Frequency and percentage analysis revealed that 63.3% of respondents consume junk food 1-2 times per week, primarily at night (66.7%), with a main preference for instant processed foods such as instant noodles (63.3%). The dominant motivational factor is convenience (73.3%), while the primary triggering situation is limited time for cooking (76.7%). The impacts are moderate: 53.3% felt moderately affected on health, 46.7% reported minimal influence on study concentration, and 40% experienced no impact on productivity. These findings align with the literature on busy student lifestyles, emphasizing the need for nutritional education interventions to shape healthy role models for future teachers. This study recommends enhancing nutritional awareness through workshops or campaigns in the campus environment to encourage PGSD students to adopt healthy eating patterns and serve as role models for future generations.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of Word Search media in enhancing students’ active participation in Indonesian language learning. The background of this research lies in the low level of student engagement during classroom activities, which often tend to be passive, thus requiring innovative learning media to increase activeness. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method with 21 third-grade students of SD Negeri 184 Pekanbaru as the subjects. The research instrument was a student engagement questionnaire consisting of 10 indicators based on the dimensions of behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating the mean score of each indicator, which was then categorized into Very Good, Good, Fair, and Poor. The findings showed that most indicators were in the Good to Very Good categories, while only two indicators were categorized as Fair. These results indicate that the use of Word Search media can enhance students’ engagement in behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects. Therefore, it can be concluded that Word Search is an effective, innovative, and enjoyable learning medium to foster students’ active participation in Indonesian language learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the early literacy skills of elementary school students through the use of letter-arranging teaching media based on three main indicators: letter suitability, accuracy in arranging letters into words, and accuracy in combining syllables into words. Early literacy is a crucial foundation for mastering reading and writing skills that influence students’ academic development. However, many lower-grade students still face difficulties in recognizing letters and forming words correctly. To address this, learning media that are concrete, interactive, and suitable for children’s developmental stages are needed. The letter-arranging teaching medium was chosen because it trains basic reading skills through enjoyable play-based activities. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method involving 22 second-grade students. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire consisting of 10 statements, then analyzed using the mean score and response distribution. The results showed an overall mean of 3.39, categorized as very good. The highest indicator was letter suitability and accuracy in forming simple words (mean 3.6), while the lowest was accuracy in combining syllables into complex words (mean 3.1). These findings indicate that the letter-arranging medium effectively strengthens early literacy, particularly in letter recognition and simple word composition, while also improving motivation, confidence, and cooperation.

Abstract

Stres akademik merupakan kondisi tekanan yang dialami mahasiswa akibat tuntutan akademik. Kondisi ini penting untuk diteliti karena dapat memengaruhi motivasi belajar, prestasi akademik, dan kesehatan mental mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat stres akademik yang dialami  mahasiswa PGSD semester V dalam menyelesaikan tugas kuliah dengan meninjau  aspek stres terkait ekspektasi akademik, stres terkait tugas dan ujian, serta stres terkait persepsi diri akademis. Metode  penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui  angket berbasis skala Likert yang disebarkan kepada 31 mahasiswa PGSD semester V. Analisis data dilakukan secara statistik deskriptif untuk melihat rata-rata,  presentase dan kategori stres akademik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa beban  tugas kuliah menjadi aspek dominan penyebab stres dengan kategori tinggi (mean 20, 19, 85,34%), diikuti ekspektasi akademik dalam kategori sedang (mean 16,10, 72, 58%), dan persepsi diri akademis dalam kategori sedang (mean 14, 32, 69,17%). Temuan  ini menegaskan bahwa mahasiswa PGSD semester V mengalami stres akademik pada level sedang hingga tinggi, yang dapat berdampak pada motivasi belajar, prestasi  akademik, dan kesehatan mental.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of three-dimensional snakes and ladders media as an interactive learning strategy to improve elementary school students’ motivation and academic achievement. The research employed a quantitative experimental method with a pretest–posttest design involving 28 sixth-grade students of SDN 147 Pekanbaru in the 2025/2026 academic year. The instruments consisted of learning achievement tests (pretest and posttest) and student questionnaires covering motivation, material comprehension, interaction, learning atmosphere, and media practicality. The results revealed a significant improvement from the average pretest score of 52 to the posttest average of 82.14, with the Wilcoxon test showing a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). Furthermore, most students responded positively to the media, as it enhanced enthusiasm, facilitated material understanding, encouraged collaboration, and created an enjoyable learning environment. These findings confirm that the three-dimensional snakes and ladders media not only improves academic outcomes but also supports students’ affective and social development. Therefore, this media is considered a feasible innovative alternative for elementary learning, although its use should be adjusted to the available time to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role conflict experienced by PGSD (Elementary School Teacher Education) students at the University of Riau between academic and organizational activities, as well as to examine its impact on students’ self-development. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving 30 active students engaged in both academic and student organization activities. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire based on three dimensions of role conflict proposed by Greenhaus and Beutell (1985): time-based, strain-based, and behavior-based conflicts. The results show that the level of role conflict among PGSD students is categorized as moderate, with an average score of 64.61. This indicates that most students are able to balance academic and organizational roles, although they face challenges in time management and role pressure. Furthermore, role conflict contributes positively to self-development, as students enhance their time management, responsibility, leadership, and communication skills. Therefore, role conflict can serve as a learning medium if managed adaptively. This study recommends that universities provide training in time management and organizational guidance to help students achieve a balanced integration between academic and extracurricular commitments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pengalaman mahasiswa dalam memanfaatkan Artificial Intelligence (AI) sebagai pendukung proses pembelajaran di pendidikan tinggi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif terhadap tujuh responden mahasiswa yang dipilih secara purposif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan dianalisis menggunakan tahapan open coding, focused coding, kategorisasi, dan penarikan tema. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa menggunakan AI secara intensif untuk berbagai aktivitas akademik, seperti mencari referensi, menjawab tugas, menyusun laporan, dan merangkum bacaan. Mahasiswa menilai AI membantu meningkatkan efisiensi dan rasa percaya diri dalam belajar, namun juga memunculkan risiko seperti penurunan motivasi berpikir kritis dan ketergantungan teknologi. Harapan utama mahasiswa adalah pengembangan AI yang lebih edukatif, dengan fitur penjelasan bertahap, referensi valid, serta kemampuan berdialog interaktif sebagai mitra belajar. Penelitian ini menegaskan perlunya kebijakan dan strategi literasi digital di perguruan tinggi yang menyeimbangkan antara kemudahan teknologi dan penguatan kemandirian belajar mahasiswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan motivasi belajar mahasiswa saat menggunakan smartphone dalam perkuliahan. Smartphone kini tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat komunikasi, tetapi juga telah menjadi media pembelajaran digital yang menyediakan akses cepat terhadap informasi akademik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan instrumen kuesioner tertutup sebanyak 15 butir yang mengukur pola penggunaan smartphone dan indikator motivasi belajar. Skala Likert 4 poin digunakan untuk memperoleh gambaran objektif tingkat motivasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif serta kategorisasi tingkat motivasi berdasarkan pedoman skor teoritis Azwar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa memiliki motivasi belajar dalam kategori sedang hingga tinggi ketika menggunakan smartphone untuk kegiatan akademik, seperti mencari informasi tambahan, membaca e-book, mengikuti perkuliahan daring, dan berkomunikasi dalam konteks pembelajaran. Namun, penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa smartphone dapat menjadi sumber distraksi yang menyebabkan penurunan konsentrasi, kehilangan fokus, serta kecenderungan menunda tugas jika digunakan untuk aktivitas non-akademik. Temuan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan smartphone memiliki dua sisi yang saling berlawanan: dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar bila digunakan secara tepat, namun dapat menurunkannya bila tidak terkontrol. Oleh karena itu, literasi digital, kemampuan mengatur waktu, dan pengelolaan penggunaan smartphone secara bijak sangat diperlukan agar perangkat ini memberikan manfaat optimal dalam pembelajaran.
