Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the validity and reliability of a science literacy instrument based on the Rasch Model in measuring students' abilities on socio-scientific issues. The analysis was conducted on 20 items using the Winsteps software. The results indicate that the instrument demonstrated good reliability, with an item reliability value of 0.96 and a person reliability value of 0.65. The Wright Map revealed that most items were well-aligned with the respondents’ abilities, although some items fell outside the majority's ability range. The analysis of item difficulty showed adequate variation, with the most difficult item at logit 2.09 and the easiest at logit -2.49. However, the DIF analysis identified bias in item 20M, which exhibited significant differences between male and female groups. These findings highlight the importance of revising specific items to enhance fairness in measurement. This study provides significant contributions to the development of educational assessment instruments based on the Rasch Model, ensuring validity, reliability, and fairness in evaluation. The instrument is expected to serve as an effective tool to support science literacy-based learning across various educational levels.

Abstract

This study aims to implement and explore the use of pictorial puzzle media in enhancing students' Arabic vocabulary mastery. The method used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in 2 cycles, with each stage consisting of four steps: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research instruments used were student observation sheets and test results. From the preliminary study conducted on 13 students, only 3 students achieved the minimum mastery criteria, while 10 students did not, with an average score of only 69.7, whereas the minimum mastery criteria at Madrasah Nurul Hikmah is 75, indicating that the students' scores were still below the minimum mastery criteria. The research results after implementing pictorial puzzle media showed an increase in the Arabic vocabulary mastery of class V students at Madrasah Nurul Hikmah Bandar Lampung. This was evidenced by the increase in the average scores of students, which rose from 69.7 in the pre-cycle to 74.6 in cycle I and 88.5 in cycle II. The regular use of pictorial puzzle media can enhance students' ability to master Arabic vocabulary. This indicates that this method can be an effective solution for improving Arabic language learning in Madrasahs, and provides evidence that using visual approaches can greatly aid in improving students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to assess the communication and collaboration skills of Muslim students, with a specific focus on gender-related, especially, women’s perspectives. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative measurements for analyzing students' communication and collaboration skills with qualitative methods, including observations and in-depth interviews, to gain insights into the influence of gender and Islamic understanding on these skills. The study findings revealed that, within the context of Islamic education, women tend to demonstrate stronger verbal communication skills, while men excel in nonverbal communication and collaboration. Essential factors contributing to effective communication and collaboration skills include adherence to communication norms, the use of polite language, and a keen awareness of Islamic social conventions. Additionally, differences in gender roles within Muslim societies were identified as influential in shaping communication patterns and collaboration dynamics. To promote inclusivity and respect for diversity, Islamic higher education institutions should strive to create an environment where both men and women can freely exchange ideas, thoughts, and knowledge without constraints. By advancing gender equality, Islamic higher education can contribute to the development of capable future leaders, uphold Islamic values, and contribute to the establishment of a just and sustainable society.

Abstract

This study investigates the post-launch public interest in DeepSeek and ChatGPT through a comparative analysis using Google Trends data from Indonesia and the Philippines. Employing a quantitative approach, the research examines temporal trends and regional variations to understand public engagement patterns with these AI tools. The findings reveal that ChatGPT consistently garners higher public interest in both countries, driven by its global recognition, multilingual capabilities, and extensive integration into educational and professional contexts. In contrast, DeepSeek shows sporadic increases in interest, particularly within niche communities and academic environments. The analysis highlights the influence of cultural, linguistic, and technological factors on AI adoption, emphasizing that while global brand strength supports widespread engagement, localized strategies are crucial for fostering sustained interest in emerging technologies. This study contributes to the understanding of AI adoption dynamics in Southeast Asia, offering insights for developers, educators, and policymakers to optimize AI integration in diverse socio-cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study was conducted to develop an Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) based on Augmented Reality (AR) with the LOK-R (Literacy, Orientation, Collaboration, Reflection) model for Physics on thermodynamics material for grade XI students and to test its effectiveness in improving students' critical thinking skills. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the 4D development model, but limited to the development stage (3D). Data collection methods involved non-test instruments (observation sheets and questionnaires) and a 10-item essay test. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The AR-based Physics E-LKPD with the LOK-R model is highly suitable for use in thermodynamics learning for high school students with a "Very Good" category based on expert validation; (2) The developed E-LKPD can improve students' critical thinking skills (N-gain = 0.73) with a "High" category; and (3) This E-LKPD is effective for learning thermodynamics topics regarding students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Rapid global change, including environmental degradation and climate change, demands the strategic role of education in fostering sustainability awareness from an early age. This study aims to systematically review and synthesize research findings related to the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Natural Sciences (IPA) learning in elementary schools. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to identify, screen, and analyze relevant studies published in the range of 2021 to 2025. Articles are obtained from selected academic databases by applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria that have been set. A total of eleven articles met the eligibility criteria and were analyzed using qualitative thematic synthesis. The findings show that the implementation of ESD in elementary school science learning is generally carried out through active learning models, the development of ESD-based media and teaching materials. All of the studies analyzed reported the positive impact of ESD implementation on cognitive, social-emotional and 21st-century skills aspects. Practically, these findings recommend that primary school teachers integrate sustainability issues through active learning models, project-based activities, and the use of contextual media. In addition, the results of these findings can be a reference for curriculum developers and education policymakers in strengthening the integration of ESD principles in science learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

The challenges of 21st-century education require learning approaches that go beyond factual mastery and emphasize deep conceptual understanding and higher-order thinking skills in elementary school students. This study aims to analyze research trends, implementation characteristics, and the impact of the deep learning approach in elementary school learning through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The literature review process follows the PRISMA protocol, including identification, screening, and eligibility stages. Articles were identified using Publish or Perish software from Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and Scopus databases with the keywords “deep learning” and “elementary school” within the publication period of 2020–2025. The initial search yielded 528 articles, which were then filtered using inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 17 empirical research articles indexed by SINTA 1–4 and Scopus for the final analysis. The synthesis shows three main characteristics of deep learning implementation: constructive learning through discussions, projects, and contextual exploration; fun and recreational learning that enhances motivation through educational games and digital media; and reflective learning that develops metacognitive awareness through reflection and evaluation. This approach improves learning outcomes, strengthens critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and supports metacognitive development in elementary education.
