Abstract

This research examines the role of parents in supporting the education of children with autism in special schools in Langsa City, Aceh. With the increasing number of children with autism spectrum disorders, attention to their educational needs has become very important. This research aims to identify the various roles played by parents and analyze the impact of their support on the social and academic development of the child. Qualitative descriptive methods were employed to assess the impact of parental involvement in the educational process on children's learning outcomes and social interactions. Data was collected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and document studies, with the instruments used being observation guidelines and interview guidelines. The research results show that parents function as the primary supporters, who not only provide motivation but also play a crucial role in communication with teachers and in monitoring their child's development. Parental support has been proven to enhance children's self-confidence and social skills, thereby creating a more inclusive learning environment. Involving parents in the planning and evaluation of educational programs can significantly improve children's learning outcomes.

Abstract

Functional speech delays affect children's communication skills, necessitating appropriate language intervention. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of reading aloud in improving the speech skills of children with speech delays. A qualitative case study approach was used, involving five children at the Rumah TIA Special Needs School in Sawahlunto City. The intervention was delivered over four weeks, three times per week, with structured sessions tailored to each child's needs. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed thematically. The results showed increases in vocabulary mastery, pronunciation accuracy, and verbal participation following the intervention. All participants showed positive development, with variations influenced by age and initial conditions. These findings indicate that reading aloud is an effective and practical language intervention strategy. This activity is recommended for routine implementation in schools and homes as a fun method of language stimulation to support children's communication development. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of special education in improving the social skills of autistic children at SLBN Prof. Dr. Sri Soedewi, MS. SH Jambi. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face challenges in communication, social interaction, and adaptive behavior, requiring specialized educational approaches. This research employs a qualitative case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that individualized learning approaches, visual methods, and collaboration between teachers and parents significantly improve students’ social skills. However, challenges include limited facilities, lack of professional staff, and varied student abilities.

Abstract

Recognizing vowels is something that is very important for all students to master, including students with hearing disabilities. This research is motivated by the presence of a student with hearing impairment and is in grade III of SLB Negeri 1 Payakumbuh who has not been able to recognize vowels well. This study aims to see whether the Marbel Reading Application is able to help the student to improve his ability to recognize vowels. This study uses an experimental approach in the form of Single Subject Research (SSR) with an A B A design, which is divided into three phases: initial observation (A1) for 3 sessions, treatment (B) for 7 sessions, and final observation (A2) for 3 sessions. Data collection was carried out through a vowel recognition test consisting of 20 questions, then analyzed visually through graphs. The research findings show that in phase (A1) the student's ability was at 35%, then increased to 90% in the intervention phase, and remained high at 85% in phase A2. This proves that the Marbel Reading Application is proven to be effective in helping students with hearing disabilities to recognize vowels.

Abstract

Self injurious behavior (SIB) is one of the most critical behavioral challenges in children autism spectrum disorder (ASD), affecting their safety, social participation, and academic outcomes. This study combines a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using the PRISMA framework with bibliometric analysis to examine the effectiveness, types, and success factors of modeling techniques in reducing SIB among children with autism. A bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix was conducted on 257 documents from 171 sources spanning 2016-2026, drawn from the Scopus database. After rigorous PRISMA screening, 11 studies were included in the final synthesis. Bibliometric findings reveal that the USA dominates research output, and key themes cluster around autism spectrum disorder, behavioral intervention, and video modeling. The annual scientific production shows a peak around 2023-2024, with a slight decline in 2025-2026. SLR findings confirm that video modeling and video self modeling are the most effective techniques for reducing SIB. Success factors include functional behavior assessment, parental involvement, technology accessibility, and psychosocial environment quality. These findings provide an evidence-based foundation for developing adaptive, technology assisted behavioral interventions in special and inclusive education settings.
