Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of student awareness regarding the importance of environmental care, particularly in waste management, despite its direct impact on daily life within the school environment. The aim of this research is to analyze the environmental awareness of fourth-grade students at SDN Da’iring 1 through waste management activities in the IPAS subject “Our Environment is Under Threat.” A qualitative approach was used with interactive data analysis techniques, involving all 17 fourth-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected through observation sheets and multiple-choice tests to measure students’ knowledge and attitudes toward environmental issues. The results indicate that students demonstrate a generally good level of environmental awareness and concern, but most are still unable to manage waste effectively. These findings support the theory that knowledge and understanding of environmental issues are essential prerequisites for developing environmental concern, but do not necessarily lead to effective waste management behavior. The main conclusion of this study is that environmental awareness supported by cognitive understanding alone is insufficient to produce concrete action in waste management. The implications include theoretical contributions to the literature on environmental education in elementary schools and practical recommendations for schools to integrate clean classroom activities and recycling programs into thematic learning. This study also opens opportunities for further research on educational interventions aimed at improving students' waste management skills in elementary education.

Abstract

This research discusses efforts to improve student learning outcomes in using Phet Simulation Science media through discussion methods in elementary schools. This research will reveal the learning outcomes of students at UPTD SDN 1 Keraton from the use of Phet media for series and parallel electrical circuits. An electrical circuit is a collection of electrical elements or components that are connected to each other in a certain way and generally have one closed path. A series circuit is an arrangement of electrical components connected sequentially, allowing all components in the circuit to operate with electric current. In contrast, a parallel circuit consists of electrical components arranged in branches connected in series, with the same potential but different currents flowing through each branch. The aim of this research is to find out how to deal with the discussion method in a conducive manner using Phet simulation media, and also to try to improve student learning outcomes in using Phet simulation through discussion methods in the classroom in elementary schools.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I SDN Telang 1 melalui penggunaan media suku kata bergambar. Penelitian menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan pendekatan kolaboratif, di mana peneliti dan guru bekerja sama mulai dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, hingga refleksi kegiatan pembelajaran. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang masing-masing terdiri dari empat tahap meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 23 siswa kelas I. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, tes membaca, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa setelah penerapan media suku kata bergambar. Pada kondisi awal, hanya 35% siswa yang mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). Setelah tindakan pada siklus I, persentase ketuntasan meningkat menjadi 52%, dan pada siklus II naik lagi menjadi 83%. Media suku kata bergambar terbukti membantu siswa lebih mudah mengenal huruf, suku kata, dan kata melalui tampilan visual yang menarik dan sesuai konteks. Dengan demikian, penggunaan media ini dapat menjadi salah satu cara yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa kelas I.
