Abstract

This study aimed to describe the success of flipped classroom using Moodle to increase students’ creative thinking abilities in view of learning styles. This study used quasi-experiment non-equivalent control group design with the participants consisted of 72 students of SMA Negeri 1 Ciawigebang in the academic year of 2022/2023 who 36 XD students as the experimental group and 36 XC students as the control group. The instruments used were tests and questionnaires. The results of data analysis with significance level of 5% revealed that on the learning model factors obtained values 0.012 < 0.05 with the conclusion that there were differences in the ability to think creatively between students who are given flipped classroom using Moodle and conventional learning. N-Gain score in the experimental class is 0.6153 while the control class is 0.3803. Hypothesis testing on learning style factors has value 0.766 > 0.05 with the conclusion that there were no differences in the ability to think creatively between students with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. Interaction diagrams shows that visual students are better suited to learning with flipped classroom using Moodle models and auditory students are better suited to learning with conventional models

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low ability of students' mathematical connections. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning model based on Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) on students' mathematical connection abilities. The method used in this study was quasi-experimental with the non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design chosen. This research was conducted at Kuningan 3 Public Middle School in May 2023. The sample was taken by purposive sampling consisting of class VIII B (Experimental Class) and class VIII A (Control Class). The number of students in both classes is the same, namely 30 students, a total sample of 60 students. The results of hypothesis testing on the results of the posttest data concluded that there were differences in students' mathematical connection abilities after the STEM-based Problem Based Learning model was applied to the experimental class and conventional models to the control class. There was a significant increase in students' mathematical connection abilities in the experimental group compared to students' mathematical connection abilities in the control group. Student responses to the STEM-based problem-based learning model in the experimental class received a positive response with a very high interpretation of the questionnaire results, namely 79%.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and measure the effectiveness of using GeoGebra application-based STEM learning media in improving the mathematical problem solving ability of junior high school students. In this study, researchers took samples of two classes which will be divided into one control class and one experimental class. The class chosen as the control class is VII B and the experimental class is class VII E. With the experimental method, the two classes are divided into an experimental group (using GeoGebra) and a control group (conventional learning).  The research instruments used are in the form of description questions and questionnaires, while the data analysis techniques used are descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. This study used independent simple t-test, N-Gain test, and questionnaire processing. The results of the analysis showed that there was no significant difference in initial abilities between the two groups. However, after treatment, there was a significant increase in mathematical problem solving abilities in the experimental group. This is proven from the results of the post-test and N-Gain test. Student responses to the use of GeoGebra in learning mathematics with a STEM approach are also positive, showing high interest and understanding. These results support learning approaches that integrate technology and natural sciences, engineering, technology, and mathematics to improve students' mathematical problem solving skills

Abstract

Abstract. The results of the 2022 International Student Assessment (PISA) for Indonesia show a decrease of 12-13 points, but Indonesia's ranking has increased by 5-6 compared to 2018. So, Indonesia is ranked 69th, this shows that the competence of Indonesian children is still low in critical skills and solving abilities. problem with HOTS. The aim of this research is to determine students' thinking abilities in solving HOTS type questions. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this research were students of class VIII MTs Pertiwi Kuningan. Data collection techniques in this research used interviews, observation and documentation and were analyzed using triangulation analysis techniques which consisted of three stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The research results show that students' cognitive abilities in solving HOTS questions at MTs Pertiwi Kuningan vary, with the majority of students being at a good to high level of ability. However, there are challenges that need to be overcome, such as a lack of practice on similar questions and accuracy in answering questions. With the right strategies, such as practicing practice and increasing accuracy, as well as intensive support from teachers, students' abilities in applying, analyzing and evaluating HOTS questions can be improved

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to measure the effectiveness of the open-ended approach assisted by the Genially platform on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The research method used was quantitative with an experimental method. The design used was Quasi Experimental with a Non-equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with two classes divided into one experimental class of 36 students who received the treatment and one control class of 36 students who did not receive the treatment. The total sample in this study was 72 students. The instruments used in the study were test questions (pretest & posttest) on mathematical problem-solving skills and a questionnaire. The data analysis techniques used were the independent sample t-test, the Mann-Whitney U test, N-Gain analysis, and questionnaire processing. The analysis of initial ability showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.482 ≥ 0.05. Therefore, there was no significant difference in the initial mathematical problem-solving ability of the students. After both classes were given different treatments, the results showed Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 ≤ 0.05, indicating a significant difference in problem-solving ability between the control class and the experimental class. The questionnaire results showed that the students gave positive responses and demonstrated high interest. The open-ended approach and the Genially platform are effectively used in mathematics learning to enhance students' mathematical problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and measure the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning learning model based on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) on students' mathematical creativity abilities in mathematics subjects in class VII of SMPN 1 Kadugede. This research uses quantitative research with an experimental approach, specifically using the Quasi Experimental Design (quasi-experiment). The research design applied is nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. This study adopts a Quasi Experiment design, where two class groups are the subjects of the study. In selecting samples, this study used purvosive sampling technique: Class VII-G as the experimental class and VII-F as the control class, with each class having a total of 36 students. The experimental class uses the Discovery Learning model based on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), while the control class follows conventional learning methods. Student learning outcome data were collected through pretest and posttest. The data collection techniques used in this study were tests and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used the t-test. The results of this study indicate that the Discovery Learning model based on Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) can improve students' mathematical creativity abilities

Abstract

Mathematical critical thinking is one of the essential competencies students must possess to face the challenges of the 21st century. However, the 2022 PISA results show that Indonesian students’ mathematical abilities are still relatively low. A preliminary study at SMP Negeri 3 Kuningan also revealed low levels of students’ critical thinking skills, as indicated by difficulties in analyzing and solving mathematical problems. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Math Adventure media with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach on students’ mathematical critical thinking skills. The research employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design of the non-equivalent control group type. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving two classes as samples: the experimental class using Math Adventure based on STEM, and the control class using conventional learning methods. Research instruments consisted of tests (pretest and posttest) and a student response questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, t-tests, and N-gain analysis. The results showed a significant difference and improvement in students’ mathematical critical thinking in the experimental class. Student responses to the learning media were also very positive. Thus, Math Adventure media with a STEM approach is effective in improving students’ mathematical critical thinking skills.
