Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui 1) bagaimana cara mengaktifkan mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran trigonometri yang berbantukan macromedia flash 8 pada Program studi pendidikan matematika. 2) bagaimana hasil belajar mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran trigonometri yang berbantukan macromedia flash 8 pada Program studi pendidikan matematika. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa mata kuliah trigonometri tahun akademik 2011/2012. Jenis  penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan alur pelaksanaan tindakan: rencana tindakan Þ pelaksanaan tindakan Þ observasi Þ refleksi Þ rencana tindakan selanjutnya. Pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi, lembar tes,  dan foto. Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan disimpulkan bahwa 1) Cara mengktifkan pembelajaran trigonometri yang berbantukan macromedia flash 8 pada mahasiswa Program studi pendidikan matematika adalah sebagai berikut : (a) Meminta mahasiswa mengemukakan alasan pemilihan jawaban pada laman contoh dan latihan. (b)Memberi tugas untuk menemukan masalah nyata dalam kehidupan sehari-hari yang penyelesaiannya merupakan bentuk pemanfaatan konsep trigonometri.(c) Meminta mahasiswa untuk mempresentasikan tugasnya. (d) meminta mahasiswa mengemukakan pendapat saat pembelajaran. 2) Hasil belajar trigonometri meningkat yaitu dari nilai rata-rata 61,03 dengan ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal 34,15 % pada siklus1 dan pada siklus 2 mencapai nilai rata-rata 71,34 dengan ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal 53,66% serta pada siklus 3 mencapai nilai rata-rata 84,00 dengan ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal 85,37 %. Abstract

This research is motivated by the low mathematical representation skills of students. This is evidenced by the mathematics learning achievement of Indonesian students in TIMSS and PISA which has not moved from the bottom 10 ranks. In learning mathematics, there are still some obstacles, including students who are still difficult to read mathematical expressions, errors in principles and procedures, not being able to connect one concept to another and difficulty communicating mathematical ideas / ideas. Mathematics learning based on android applications is an alternative idea that can be a solution to the problems above. This study aims to examine: (1) How is the application of Android-based mathematics learning (2) How is the process of mathematical representation and student responses in the application of Android-based mathematics learning. (3) How to anticipate learning that must be perfected to optimize student representation skills. This research method uses qualitative methods using instruments in the form of teacher observation sheets, student observation sheets, interview sheets and student understanding tests.Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya keterampilan representasi matematis siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan prestasi belajar matematika siswa Indonesia pada TIMSS dan PISA masih belum beranjak dari 10  peringkat terbawah. Di dalam pembelajaran matematika, masih ditemukan beberapa kendala diantaranya siswa masih sulit membaca ekspresi matematika, kesalahan prinsip dan prosedur, belum mampu menghubungkan antara satu konsep dengan konsep lainnya serta kesulitan dalam mengkomunikasikan gagasan/ide matematika. Pembelajaran matematika berbasis aplikasi android adalah salah satu gagasan alternatif yang dapat menjadi solusi permasalahan diatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji : (1) Bagaimanakah penerapan pembelajaran matematika berbasis Android(2) Bagaimanakah proses representasi matematis dan respon siswa dalam penerapan pembelajaran matematika berbasis Android. (3) Bagaimana antisipasi pembelajaran yang harus disempurnakan untuk mengoptimalkan keterampilan representasi siswa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa lembar observasi guru, lembar observasi siswa, lembar wawancara dan tes pemahaman siswa.

Abstract

The Purpose of this study is to determine the achievement and improvement of students’ mathematical connectionability through using outdoor mathematics learning. 64 students from the fifth grade of Primary School at SDN 65 and SDN 67 Bengkulu City were taken as the sample of this study. While the method of the research used in this research is experiment with quasi-experimental designs non-equivalent control group. The results of the study are as follows: (1) There is an increasing ability found in mathematical connection of students whom taught by using outdoors mathematics learning is 0,53; (2) Based on statical computation that achievement of students’ ability of mathematical connection is taught by using outdoor mathematics learning score is 71,25. It is higher than the students score 66,25 which were taught by using the conventional learning. So as to improve students’ mathematical connection, teachers are suggested to use the outdoors mathematics learning

Abstract

Artikel ini menggambarkan konsepsi salah seorang siswa kelas 3 Sekolah Dasar di Kota Bengkulu tentang bilangan bulat di luar pembelajaran formal. Siswa ini mengalami banyak intervensi tanpa skenario dalam pembelajarannya, di antaranya dari keluarga (kakak kelas 8 yang memiliki prestasi baik dalam matematika, kedua orang tua pengajar matematika) dan pelatihan sempoa. Konsepsi yang digali adalah arti bilangan negatif, bilangan bulat, serta operasi penjumlahan dan pengurangan pada bilangan bulat. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek diberikan beberapa pertanyaan seputar konsepsi bilangan bulat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek memiliki konsepsi sebagai berikut: 1) menggunakan istilah “kurang”, “utang” atau “posisi di bawah permukaan” untuk memaknai bilangan bulat ne­gatif, 2) bilangan bulat negatif diartikan sebagai invers penjumlahan bilangan asli, 3) ada perbe­daan antara simbol negatif dengan simbol operasi pengurangan, 4) bilangan bulat negatif bera­da di sebelah kiri bilangan 0 pada garis bilangan, 5) bilangan bulat negatif terkecil berada di sebe­lah kiri bilangan bulat negatif lainnya, seperti bilangan-bilangan pada penggaris, dan mampu menggunakan dinding sebagai pengganti garis bilangan, 6) menggunakan istilah “maju” atau “mundur” untuk mengoperasikan penjumlahan bilangan bulat, 7) menggunakan kata “jarak”, “lompatan di atas garis bilangan”, dan “lompatan di bawah garis bilangan”  untuk mengoperasi­kan pengurangan bilangan bulat. Conceptions of third-grader elementary school about integersAbstractThis article described the conception of a third-grader elementary school in the City of Bengkulu about integers outside formal learning. This student experienced many interventions without scenarios in their learning, including their families (a brother in eighth-graders who had good mathematics achievements, parents were mathematics education lecturer) and an abacus trai­ning. The explored conceptions were the meaning of negative numbers, integers, and addition and subtraction operations on integers. This research was qualitative research with a case study approach. The subject was asked several questions regarding the conception of integers. The results of this research indicated that the subject had the following conception: 1) using the term “less”, “debt”, or “position under the surface” to interpret negative integers; 2) interpreting nega­tive integers as the inverse of the addition of natural numbers; 3) differentiating the negative symbol and the subtraction operation symbol, 4) locating negative integers to the left of “0” on a number line; 5) locating smaller negative integers to the left of other negative integers like num­bers on a ruler and having an ability to use a wall as a substitute of a number line; 6) using terms “forward” or “backward” to operate integer additions; and 7) using the term “distance”, “jumps over the number line”, and “jumps under the number line” to operate integer subtractions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of junior high school students in Bengkulu City in solving math problems based on Trend International Mathematics and Science (TIMSS).  This research was a survey research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The population in this study were all students of Class IX from 40 schools public and private junior high school in Bengkulu City. The sample selection was carried out in two stages, namely stratified random sampling to select schools and simple random sampling to select classes. The sample consisted of 12 Junior high schools in Bengkulu City. Data collection was done by distributing test instruments. The research instrument was 20 items that consist of 15 multiple choices and 5 short answers that were reviewed from the TIMSS problems in 2011 and 2015. Data analysis was done by using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the ability of junior high school students in Bengkulu City in terms of content aspects, namely: (1) geometry  of 23.46% (low), (2) data and chance of 50.40% (low), (3) algebra and number of 59.18% (enough).

Abstract

Learners are directly related to what the teacher in learning activities and become direct experience of learners. Learning gives real meaning to the learner. By providing props based on mathematical learning environment will give meaning to the other disciplines. By learning math using environment-based learning tools teachers will associate with other subjects. The use of instructional media in teaching and learning is still lacking although the schools have had excellent facilities. This is caused by lack of knowledge and skills of elementary school teachers in the city of Bengkulu in using objects that are available around the environment to be a source of learning, especially math used as props. One of the utilization of objects that exist around the environment in mathematics is a manufacture of environment-based learning tools. The method used is a demonstration, assignments, discussions and question and answer. Through this service activities gained six props is a digital clock, the positive and negative card, card number, card mirroring, square blocks and funnel Commission. The implications of this activity is that it can terbentukya props based math environment more creative, to other subject matter. The conclusion of this study is to improve the ability of teachers to use and utilize existing objects around the environment to be used as props in learning. Keywords: Training, Maths Props, Primary School Teacher

Abstract

Mathematical communication skill in amathematics learning process isa basic skill that must be possessed by students in developing the ability to think, reason, and solve problems. Especially in virtual learning, both online learning and blended learning, teachersmust be able to conductlearning that built students' mathematical communication skills. Implementing web-based geometry in space and plane learning can be an alternative for forming mathematical communication skillswith the aidof technology in today's virtual learning environment. This research aimed to examine 1) how web-based geometry in space and plane learning is implemented, 2) how students' mathematical communication skills are builtthrough web-based geometry in space and plane learning, and 3) what learning alternatives need improvement to optimize students' mathematical communication skills. This research used a qualitative method with instruments in the form of lecturer activity observation sheet, student activity observation sheet, interview guide,and mathematical communication skillstest. Data were collected through observation of learning implementation, mathematical communication skills testing, and interviews based on the test results. The data were analyzed with a descriptive technique.The results showed that 1) web-based geometry in space and field learning can be implemented by exploring with concept discussion on the activity pages, 2)web-based geometry in space and plane learning couldhelp students explore ideas throughoutthe students' mathematical communication skills formation process, and 3) the learning could be improved by developing an HLT (hypothetical learning trajectory) using technology to develop a higher level of mathematical thinking ability.
