Abstract

The development of digital technology offers significant opportunities for villages to optimize human resource potential in realizing the smart village concept. The implementation of digital technology at the village level is expected to improve public service quality, enhance governance transparency, and foster sustainable development innovation. However, in practice, limited digital literacy and insufficient leadership capacity among village officials remain major challenges. Village officials require digital leadership skills that not only focus on technological mastery but also encompass strategic vision, change management, and data-driven resource management. This community service program was designed to enhance the digital leadership capacity of village officials through a series of structured training activities. The implementation method consisted of three main stages: (1) a needs assessment survey to map digital literacy levels and identify challenges, (2) face-to-face training sessions focusing on digital leadership concepts, technology management, and strategies for digital-based public service delivery, and (3) post-training online mentoring to ensure sustainable implementation. The results indicate a significant improvement in understanding digital leadership concepts, skills in utilizing technology for village governance, and the emergence of creative initiatives from participants to develop digital-based village services. This training is expected to serve as an initial step toward building villages that are adaptive to digital transformation, equipped with competitive officials, and capable of managing change effectively. The sustainability of this program is crucial to strengthening the foundation for establishing independent and innovative smart villages.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of visionary leadership style and organizational culture on employee performance, as well as to analyze the moderating role of innovation and digital competence within organizational settings in Indonesia. The research is motivated by the growing need to enhance employee performance amid organizational dynamics and digital transformation. This study employs a quantitative explanatory approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale from 150 employees in public and private organizations across Indonesia. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, data quality testing, inferential and moderation analysis, and cause–effect mapping using the Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagram. The results indicate that visionary leadership and organizational culture have a positive and significant impact on employee performance. Furthermore, innovation and digital competence significantly strengthen these relationships as moderating variables. The Fishbone Diagram structure confirms that employee performance is influenced by an integrated set of managerial, human resource, process, and technological factors. These findings highlight the importance of aligning leadership, organizational culture, and digital capability development to achieve sustainable improvements in employee performance.

Abstract

IntroductionIndonesia’s automotive industry is facing rapid digital transformation, intensifying global competition, and increasing pressure to improve quality, productivity, and adaptability. These challenges require organizations to strengthen digital leadership, employee competence, organizational commitment, and learning agility. However, the mechanisms through which these factors improve employee performance remain insufficiently explained, especially when viewed from an Islamic economics perspective.ObjectivesThis study examines the influence of digital leadership, competence, and motivation on employee performance in Indonesia’s automotive industry. It also analyzes the mediating roles of organizational commitment and learning agility and interprets the findings through Islamic economics values, including amanah, ihsan, adl, maslahah, and falah.MethodThis study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected from 335 managers, supervisors, and employees in Indonesia’s automotive industry who had experience with digital transformation or technology-based work processes. The research model was tested using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. Validity and reliability were assessed through factor loading, composite reliability, and average variance extracted, while direct and indirect relationships were examined through path analysis and bootstrapping.ResultsThe results show that digital leadership has a significant direct effect on employee performance but does not significantly influence learning agility and only marginally affects organizational commitment. Motivation does not significantly affect performance, organizational commitment, or learning agility. Competence has a strong significant effect on organizational commitment, while organizational commitment significantly improves learning agility. Learning agility is the strongest direct predictor of employee performance. The most important indirect pathway is competence → organizational commitment → learning agility → performance.ImplicationsThis study indicates that improving employee performance in the automotive industry requires more than digital leadership and motivation. Organizations should strengthen employee competence, build organizational commitment, and develop learning agility through fair, ethical, and welfare-oriented human resource practices.Originality/NoveltyThis study contributes an integrated model of digital leadership, competence, organizational commitment, learning agility, and performance in the automotive industry, enriched by an Islamic economics perspective on ethical and sustainable human resource development.
