Abstract

Abstract

Diuretics are substances that can increase urinary output (diuresis) through direct action on the kidneys. Diuretics can also reduce electrolyte reabsorption in the renal tubules by involving active transport processes The cat's whiskers plant contains polymethoxylated flavonoid compounds, phenylpropanoids (caffeic acid derivatives), and terpenoids (especially diterpenes and triterpenes). IDKK was obtained from the infusion technique with distilled water and then the infusion was used on 25 diuretic rats which were divided into 5 groups. Group I (negative) Na-CMC 0.5%, group II (positive) Furosemide 3.6 mg/kgBB, and group III, IV, and V IDKK doses of 10, 20, and 40% were given orally. Rats were given aqua dest orally at a 15 ml/kg BW dose. Mice were placed in metabolic cages, then the physical examination of urine was carried out every 1 hour for 6 hours. The results showed that the IDKK with the best dose was 40%, which increased urine volume, affect urine pH, affect urine specific gravity, and affect the color of urine and the clarity of urine.

Abstract

Patchouli leaf oil spray gel formulation has been carried out, patchouli oil is one of the burns treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the formation of a spray gel formulation of patchouli leaf oil with variance of the combination of carbopol 940 and HMPC 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3% into a spray gel preparation and whether patchouli leaf oil can be used as a spray gel meets the requirements. quality of safety, this research is an experimental study which is carried out by testing organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, spraying pattern, adhesive dispersion, stability, and irritation. The results of the spray gel preparations of carbopol 940 concentration variance and HPMC for organoleptic testing there was a cloudy white color change in the Cycling test, while the homogeneity test for all preparations was homogeneous, the viscosity test of the preparation showed that the 0.3% concentration did not meet the requirements, There was no change in the pH test on the preparations, namely neutral pH, tested for spraying patterns and the adhesion met the requirements of the 0.1% and 0.2% formulas. For the stability of the centrifugation there was no separation in the spray gel and for the irritation test there was no allergy in the respondent.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country that has a variety of plants, one of which is the succulent plant (Polyscias scutellaria). Mangkukan plants contain compounds of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, glycosides, steroids, polyphenols, fats. The aim of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of the Mangkukan leaf (Polyscias scutellaria) against the bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. The tests were carried out through the stages of collecting materials, preparing simplicia, making ethanolic extract of kukukan leaves and testing the inhibitory power of basil leaves against Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli bacteria. The manufacture of ethanolic extract of the leaves of the Mangkokan was carried out by the maceration method using 96% ethanol. Antibacterial activity testing was carried out using the agar diffusion method using disc paper. The results of the study based on the results of phytochemical screening showed that the simplicia and ethanol extract of the Mangkokan leaf contained flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, steroids/triterpenes. Meanwhile, in the antibacterial activity test, the ethanol extract of the Mangkokan Leaf had antibacterial or inhibition zones on these bacteria with different concentrations, such as concentrations of 60%, 80% and 100%. Positive control using chloramphenicol and for negative control using sterile distilled water. The ethanol extract of the Mangkukan leaf has antibacterial activity of Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli.

Abstract

Bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) is a family of Myrtaceae, which has been widely used as a spice in the kitchen, it turns out that it can be used as a traditional medicine to treat various diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, diarrhea, cholesterol, gastritis, and gout. Bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) can be used as a traditional medicine to maintain health and prevent various diseases because it contains alkaloid compounds, tannins, flavonoids, essential oils, and saponins. Methicillin-Resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a cause of bacterial infections such as bacteremia, pneumonia, and surgical wound infections. Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus can cause various complications, often in the bloodstream, joints, lungs, bones, and heart. This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) with concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% against the growth of Methicillin-Resistant staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research method uses an experimental method, namely to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract from bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) against the growth of Methicillin-Resistant staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research used 96% ethanol as solvent. The test was carried out through several stages including material collection, preparation of Simplicia, manufacture of ethanol extract from bay leaves by maceration, and testing of antibacterial activity against Methicillin-Resistant staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Based on the results of phytochemical screening tests, the thick extract of bay leaf contains a class of alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, saponins, and tannins. The results of the antibacterial activity test of thick bay leaf extract against Methicillin-Resistant staphylococcus aureus bacteria had an average inhibitory activity at concentrations of 5% (6.55 mm), 10% (7.5 mm), 15% (8 mm), 20 % (8.8 mm) and 25% (11.06 mm).
