Abstract

Secang wood from the Caesalpiniacea tribe which was commonly found in Indonesia had secondary metabolites as antibacterial. This study aims to formulate secang wood ethanol extract into a transparent solid soap that is able to meet quality requirements. This research method was begin with formulating the extract into a transparent solid soap preparation with 3 concentrations, namely 5g (F1), 10g (F2), and 15g (F3). Furthermore, appearance tests, foaming ability, free alkali, free fatty acids, irritation, hedonic, and pH were carried out. The results of the research on transparent solid soap gave different colors for each concentration, namely transparent bright red (F1) and transparent dark red (F2 and F3) which were stable for 4 weeks; the foam power test shows a height of 4.5-6.5 cm after 10 minutes; free alkaline test shows a value of 0.07-0.08%; free fatty acid test 0.16%, and pH test 8.96-9.66 at week 4; and transparent solid soap does not cause irritation, attractive and liked by volunteers

Abstract

Emulgel is a moisturizing topical preparation that is able to soften the skin and protect it from damage. The leaves of the leunca plant have antibacterial and anti- inflammatory properties. Staphylococcus aureus is a gram-positive bacteria that can be found on human skin. This research aims to find out whether leunca (solanum nigrum) leaf extract can be formulated into an emulgel preparation that meets physicochemical quality, find out whether the resulting emulgel preparation of leunca leaf extract (solanum nigrum) can act as an antibacterial for staphylococcus and find out whether there are differences in the concentration of leunca leaf extract emulgel preparations. (solanum nigrum) affects its effectiveness as an antibacterial for Staphylococcus. This research method used. This research was carried out experimentally with emulgel preparations from leunca leaf extract with concentrations of 2%, 4% and 6% with emulgel evaluation. Based on the experimental results, it was concluded that leunca (solanum nigrum) leaf extract could be formulated F0, F1, F2 and F3 to meet the Organoleptic Test, Homogeneity Test, pH Test, Adhesion Test, Spreadability Test, Viscosity Test and Irritation Test. The emulgel preparation formulation from leunca (solanum nigrum) leaf extract showed potential as an antibacterial for Staphylococcus aureus with a DDH value greater than 20 mm, namely 20,31 to 21,83.

Abstract

The important role of ascorbic acid or Vitamin C in the body is for metabolic processes and tissue repair. Antioxidants from Vitamin C can help protect cells from free radicals. Vitamin C can protect skin and produce collagen. Collagen is a natural protein in the body that forms the structure of the skin, whose production can decrease due to free radicals and aging. Vitamin C can maintain collagen production so that skin looks healthy and firm. Therefore, Vitamin C can work to maintain beauty and health. The highest daily dose of vitamin C is 1,000 milligrams/day. In this service activity, two activities were carried out separately, namely socialization about the importance of Vitamin C for body health and blood donation in Medan Helvetia District, Medan City to provide information to residents of Medan Helvetia District regarding the importance of Vitamin C for body health. Blood donation is also carried out to have many impacts both on the health of the donor and the recipient. This activity was also carried out to increase awareness regarding the health benefits of consuming Vitamin C.
