Abstract

This study aims to describe how Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) support the digitalization of learning in higher education, with a focus on their contribution to improving the quality of higher education. Using a qualitative method based on literature studies, this study analyzes various academic sources and MOOC implementation practices at the global and national levels. The results show that MOOCs have great potential in expanding access to education, providing learning flexibility, and supporting the development of essential skills, such as digital literacy and cross-cultural collaboration. In addition, MOOCs contribute to increasing the competitiveness of higher education through global collaboration and diversification of learning methods. However, challenges such as uneven infrastructure and low participation rates require a strategic approach, such as the integration of hybrid learning and innovation in course design. With optimized implementation, MOOCs can be a major catalyst in building inclusive, adaptive, and globally competitive higher education.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to develop a conceptual framework for character education in senior high schools by systematically mapping implementation patterns, challenges, and strategies to strengthen character values. The research employed a conceptual design using a Systematic Literature Review approach. The units of analysis were research articles on character education at the senior high school level published between 2015 and 2024, sourced from reputable national and international journals. Through predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, 37 articles were selected for analysis. Data were examined using content analysis and thematic coding to identify recurring patterns, conceptual relationships, and dominant themes. The findings reveal that character education is constructed through the integration of three core dimensions. The pedagogical dimension emphasizes reflective and experiential learning, positioning students as moral subjects. The cultural dimension is reflected in consistent school culture, educator role modeling, and supportive social interactions. The structural dimension ensures sustainability through moral leadership, participatory policies, and partnerships with families and communities; however, weak integration reduces overall effectiveness.

Abstract

Intellectual unemployment is a major challenge in the modern education system due to the increasing mismatch between graduate competencies and the needs of the workforce. The transformation of the digital economy, the development of artificial intelligence (AI), and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 require educational institutions to produce graduates who are not only academically superior but also adaptable to technological changes and global industrial needs. However, the Indonesian education system still faces a skills mismatch problem due to a curriculum that tends to be theoretical, less responsive to industrial developments, and has not fully integrated 21st-century skills. This study aims to analyze the role of an industry-based curriculum in improving graduates' job readiness as an effort to reduce intellectual unemployment, while also examining the transformation of the curriculum from a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) perspective. The study uses a qualitative approach with literature study and critical discourse analysis methods. Data were obtained from reputable international journals indexed by Scopus, accredited national journals, reports from international institutions, and education and employment policy documents. The results show that an industry-based curriculum can improve graduate employability through strengthening project-based learning, industrial internships, digital literacy, and soft skills development. The implementation of the link and match program and the Independent Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) program also contribute to improving graduates' job readiness. However, from a CDA perspective, the transformation of the industry-based curriculum demonstrates the dominance of economic logic and neoliberalism in education, which directs education as an instrument for providing labor for industry. Therefore, the development of an industry-based curriculum needs to be carried out in a balanced manner so that education is not only oriented towards job market needs but also maintains its humanistic function in developing critical, creative, and socially conscious individuals.

Abstract

The current of cosmopolitanism as a consequence of globalization has brought significant changes to the national education system in Indonesia. This phenomenon is characterized by increased cultural exchange, the development of digital technology, global mobility, and the penetration of universal values that influence the orientation of national education. On the one hand, cosmopolitanism opens opportunities for increasing global competence, transforming learning, and strengthening the competitiveness of human resources. However, on the other hand, this current also presents challenges in the form of a weakening of national identity, a character crisis of the younger generation, the commercialization of education, and disparities in access to educational technology. This study aims to analyze the national education strategy in dealing with the current of cosmopolitanism and identify the challenges facing Indonesian education in the global era. The study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through analysis of scientific journals, education policy documents, academic books, and reports from national and international institutions. The results show that the national education strategy needs to be directed at strengthening Pancasila-based character education, revitalizing local culture, developing global competence, inclusive digital transformation of education, and increasing teacher capacity. This study emphasizes that national education must be able to build a balance between global openness and strengthening national identity so that Indonesia can adapt to a global society without losing its identity.

Abstract

Education is a crucial investment in human resource development, but in reality, quality education is still often considered expensive and remains inaccessible to many. This phenomenon raises questions about the relationship between cost and quality of education, as well as the factors that cause these high costs. This study aims to analyze the relationship between cost and quality of education and identify the causes of quality education remains financially burdensome. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review of various scientific sources, policy reports, and relevant prior studies. The results of the study show that the high cost of education is influenced by various factors, including the increasing need for educational facilities, school operational costs, professionalism of educators, commercialization of education, and inequality in the distribution of government subsidies. In addition, it was found that high education costs are not always directly proportional to the quality of education, so efficient management and targeted policies are needed. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the high cost of education is not solely caused by quality demands, but also by structural and policy factors that are suboptimal, necessitating collaborative efforts to improve access to education without sacrificing quality. Keywords: education costs, quality of education, access to education, inequality.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the role of transformational leadership in enhancing teacher and student motivation in educational institutions. The study employs a literature review approach by examining 20 relevant scholarly journal articles published between 2016 and 2024. Transformational leadership is understood as a leadership style oriented toward positive change by emphasizing vision, inspiration, emotional support, and intellectual stimulation for its followers. In the context of education, transformational leaders, such as school principals or institutional heads, have the ability to create an inspiring educational vision, build strong interpersonal relationships with teachers and students, and encourage innovation in both teaching and school management. The analysis results indicate that transformational leadership has a significant impact on improving teacher motivation. Teachers become more enthusiastic in teaching, more open to change, and more committed to developing their professional skills. Furthermore, students also show increased learning motivation, active engagement in class, and greater self-confidence. Leadership that fosters a positive and supportive school climate strengthens interpersonal relationships within the educational environment, enhances collaboration among teachers, and builds a collaborative culture that supports the creation of innovative learning. Transformational leadership also plays an important role in the development of adaptive curricula, the creation of a conducive work environment, and the enhancement of teacher job satisfaction. Overall, the findings show that this leadership style can be an effective strategy in creating educational institutions that are not only productive but also adaptive to ongoing global challenges. Therefore, educational leaders are encouraged to adopt the principles of transformational leadership in order to strengthen the intrinsic motivation of both teachers and students in achieving optimal educational goals.
