Abstract

Urban forests have benefits for urban recreational activities for dwellers and also the identity of a city. East Jakarta is one of the areas in DKI Jakarta that has the largest number of urban forests currently. Urban forest has not been utilized optimally by the dwellers. For recreation activities, urban forest utilization for recreation activities become an interesting to observe. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyzed urban forests utilization by the dwellers, especially in East Jakarta. Observation was done through interview and then was analyzed using linier regression. Urban forests coverage area were determined through buffer analysis using the level of urban forest accessibility by walk. The results shown that 85% urban forests was visited by dwellers came from inside urban forest coverage area. Recreational activities recorded while observed in the urban forest were exercising, sightseeing, picnic, camping, etc. The number of object in each urban forest was positively correlated with the high proportion of visitor from outside the urban forest coverage area.

Abstract

One of the public places in the city of Palu is Vatulemo Park. In 2024, Vatulemo Park underwent a revitalization. The goal of this revitalization is to improve the quality and aesthetics of the park while expanding the coverage of public services in the surrounding area. The aim of this research is to use GIS to map the distribution of visitor patterns and the service coverage area of Vatulemo Park. The data collected through field observations, interviews, and visitor surveys were then analyzed using GIS. The study shows that visitors to Vatulemo Park do not only come from the park's service radius but also from outside the service radius. The visitation pattern is distributed based on location and the service coverage of the park, which can be optimized. The condition of the park can be clearly depicted through thematic maps that display the data. This study provides recommendations for park managers in planning the development of more efficient and inclusive infrastructure and services. Therefore, the analysis and visualization of the impact of revitalization on the visitation patterns and service coverage of Vatulemo Park can be successfully carried out using GIS techniques.

Abstract

Urban parks serve as areas that support social interaction and enhance the quality of life for the community. These parks feature vegetation that enhances their aesthetic and provides ecological benefits. Vegetation contributes to visitor comfort and improves park accessibility. However, suboptimal vegetation planning can hinger accessibility for certain groups, such as disabilities, elderly, and children. This study aims to analyze the role and impact of vegetation on accessibility in Vatulemo Park. The research begins with observations, spatial analysis using GIS to examine the distribution of vegetation and circulation patterns park. Additionally, a landscape design evaluation is conducted based on Universal Design principles and accessibility standards for green open spaces. The findings indicate that the distribution of vegetation in Vatulemo Park does not fully support accessibility. Shaded areas along circulation paths and jogging tracks are still insufficient, making the park less comfortable for visitors, especially between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM WITA. Moreover, the lack of vegetation around seating areas and gathering spaces reduces the park's ecological function and user comfort. Therefore, recommendations for improving vegetation placement within the park are necessary to increase greenery along circulation paths and jogging tracks. The selection of plant species should also be adjusted to avoid obstructing visitor activities and comfort. Furthermore, chosen vegetation should not hinder accessibility, and user-friendly pathways should be provided for individuals with special needs. By implementing these strategies, Vatulemo Park is expected to become a more inclusive, comfortable, and ecologically sustainable public space for the residents of Palu City.

Abstract

Karampuang Island is one of the leading marine tourism destinations in Mamuju Regency, possessing significant potential for sustainable tourism development. However, limited road infrastructure and transportation accessibility pose major challenges in spatial integration between Karampuang Island and Mamuju City. This study aims to analyze road space integration in supporting connectivity and sustainable tourism development on Karampuang Island. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with spatial planning analysis, transportation infrastructure assessment, and coastal area management policy review. The findings indicate that connectivity between Karampuang Island and Mamuju City remains limited due to inadequate transportation routes and a lack of supporting infrastructure facilities. Enhancing the quality and quantity of land and sea transportation routes, sustainable spatial planning, and integrative policies in coastal area management are essential to improving regional connectivity. Furthermore, the development of environmentally friendly road infrastructure tailored to tourist needs can support the advancement of Karampuang Island as a marine tourism destination that is better integrated with Mamuju City. Thus, optimizing road space integration not only improves accessibility but also contributes to local economic growth and coastal ecosystem sustainability.

Abstract

Thermally comfortable tropical building designs must respond to sunlight exposure. Detailed data on the duration of sunlight exposure during the equinox and solstice periods is still limited. This study aims to analyze sunlight exposure during the equinox and solstice periods. The research was conducted using the Forma application, a 3D simulation product. The results show that the roof receives the highest sunlight exposure, reaching 9 hours per day during the equinox, while some areas of the building facade only receive exposure for less than 1 hour per day during the solstice. These findings provide important insights into the optimization of shading design and energy efficiency in tropical buildings. This research has a positive impact on architectural knowledge, demonstrating that simulation-based design can be used in creating sustainable tropical buildings

Abstract

The selection of border elements between pedestrian walkways and vehicular roads is a critical aspect of urban landscape design that supports safety, comfort, and visual aesthetics. One widely adopted approach is the use of vegetation as a natural separator. This study aims to visually analyze the effectiveness of plant selection in separating these two functional zones, focusing on safety, visual legibility, and aesthetic value. This research seeks to strengthen through landscape enhancement while providing a pleasant pedestrian experience. The study employed one original site photograph and four digitally altered (montaged) images, which were evaluated by 30 respondents using structured questionnaires. Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE) and Semantic Differential (SD) methods were applied to assess visual aesthetic quality. The results indicate that plant type significantly influences perceived aesthetic quality and is closely associated with user perception. The study concludes that medium-height shrubs are the most suitable choice for pedestrian borders, as they enhance visual aesthetics while maintaining a functional and environmentally responsive road landscape.

Abstract

The agroforestry pattern of land use in Sumber Sari Village, Sebulu Sub District, Kutai Kartanegara District is a pattern of agrosilviculture, silvopasture and agrosilvopasture whose landscape service of land productivity value is not yet known. This research aims to analyze land productivity of agroforestry landscape pattern, focusing on factors that influence production results and sustainability of this system. The study was conducted in Sumber Sari Village, Sebulu District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan, which has an area of 3,383 ha. The research land consists of 15 lands with implementation of agroforestry landscape pattern practices by farmers which have been classified into 3 types, it’s agrisilviculture, silvopasture and agrosilvopasture. Vegetation structure and composition data from three agroforestry landscape patterns will be used to calculate plant production landscape services and land productivity (based land Equivalence Ratio [LER] value). Land use of agroforestry patterns in Sumber Sari Village, Sebulu District produces high production. Agrisilviculture pattern produces the highest production with an average production of 56.47 Mg/ha from 7 commodities. Silvopasture pattern has an average crop production of 41.33 Mg/ha from 4 commodities, while agrosilvopasture pattern has an average crop production of 33.77 Mg/ha from 6 commodities. The average LER value of land use of the agrosilvopasture pattern is slightly lower, which is 1.09 which is included in the medium category. On the other hand, LER value for land use with agrisilviculture and silvopasture patterns is greater, at 1.58 and 1.29 respectively, which are included in the high category.
