Abstract

In the modern era, environmental issues have become a global concern, with waste management emerging as one of the primary focuses. This research aims to analyze the role of communication campaigns in public education to enhance students' participation in recycling activities. The study employs a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach with a case study method to explore how communication campaigns can shape awareness, attitudes, and behaviors toward recycling. The findings indicate that effective communication campaigns, incorporating the use of social media, direct outreach, and collaboration with local communities, significantly improve students' understanding of the importance of recycling and motivate them to participate actively. Furthermore, the study reveals that recycling participation increases when communication campaigns are tailored to the local context and involve active student engagement. Consequently, the research concludes that public education through communication campaigns is a crucial strategy for enhancing recycling participation and contributing to environmental preservation, particularly at UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan. The implications of these findings highlight the need for more focused and sustainable communication campaigns to maximize the impact of public education on recycling participation.

Abstract

Community Service Activities in utilizing IT for adolescents use simple media. The head of Bulu Mario Village provides opportunities for the community to enhance their knowledge and economy. IT training was chosen because it has several advantages, including the fact that the majority of adolescents have smartphones, making it easier for the community to market their products. The aim of the community service in Bulu Mario Village is to empower the community with Information Technology (IT) skills and abilities, helping them thrive in an increasingly IT-integrated modern era. Additionally, this program aims to build sustainable growth in Bulu Mario Village. The implementation of the community service uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which involves the participation of all stakeholders. The activities in this community service include data collection, counseling, training, and evaluation. The results of this service show that the program successfully increased literacy among the village community, especially adolescents. With IT, the community can engage in e-commerce, digital financial services, and various other online platforms, all of which contribute to inclusive economic growth, thereby making the community more prosperous. The impact of this program is that adolescents are able to boost their confidence in adopting and using IT to improve the quality of life in Bulu Mario Village, particularly for themselves, in creating opportunities for economic well-being

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how faith values, through community-based social organizations, contribute to flood risk reduction and strengthen community resilience, particularly in meeting basic food and clothing needs. This study stems from the phenomenon of increased community social vulnerability due to flooding, which not only causes physical damage but also disrupts household economic sustainability and access to basic needs. The study used a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, enabling communities to become key actors in identifying vulnerabilities, local resources, and adaptation strategies based on their lived experiences. The research findings indicate that food and clothing insecurity are at the core of the social vulnerability of flood-affected communities. In this context, faith values serve as a normative foundation that encourages practices of solidarity, care, and material assistance through social institutions such as the Jemari Sekato NGO. This organization serves as a facilitator between community needs and support from the government and universities through cross-sectoral collaborative mechanisms. This study concludes that faith values function not only as spiritual support but also as institutionalized social capital that strengthens community-based resilience. Therefore, disaster risk reduction requires participatory integration of material, social, and religious aspects to build a more adaptive and sustainable resilience system

Abstract

The mosque holds a strategic role in the life of Muslims, not only as a place of worship but also as a center for social activities and economic empowerment. This community service program aims to assist mosque administrators in developing their economic potential through entrepreneurship training and the establishment of micro-enterprise units within mosque communities. The activity was conducted in Mandailing Natal Regency using a participatory approach based on the real needs of congregants. The results show that the program succeeded in establishing a special division within the Mosque Prosperity Council (BKM) responsible for managing community economic empowerment initiatives. There was a noticeable improvement in the understanding and skills of mosque administrators regarding Islamic economic concepts, micro-enterprise management, and digital marketing. The program also encouraged greater initiative among mosque congregants to optimize local economic resources, as seen through the emergence of mosque-based economic activities such as entrepreneurship training, local product bazaars, and the development of congregation-based business groups. These findings demonstrate that mosques can function effectively as economic centers capable of improving community welfare when supported by professional management and active participation from congregants.
