Abstract

The Javanese Sandur tradition offers a unique cultural context for developing career adaptability skills in Generation Z, yet its potential remains underexplored in existing career development research. This study employs a qualitative participatory ethnographic design over five months in Karang Village, Tuban Regency, East Java, involving participant observation, in-depth interviews with Sandur practitioners, and document analysis. Data were thematically analyzed using Maxqda with an inductive approach. The findings reveal that active engagement in Sandur cultivates four core adaptability dimensions—concern, control, curiosity, and confidence—through collective performance practices, role exploration, cultural responsibility, and problem-solving within the community. These results demonstrate that Sandur is not only a form of cultural preservation but also a strategic medium for strengthening career adaptability among Generation Z facing rapid technological and social transitions. This research contributes new insights into how traditional cultural practices can serve as contextualized pathways for enhancing career readiness in modern work environments.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth the epistemology of career skills from a phenomenological perspective in which artificial intelligence (AI) dominates. The background of this study is based on a fundamental shift in the way knowledge and expertise are formed and interpreted in the modern job market, which is increasingly influenced by AI. Specifically, this article investigates how individuals interpret and internalize their career knowledge amid the availability of AI-powered algorithms and platforms. Using interpretive phenomenology, this study involved in-depth interviews with six professionals across sectors who rely on AI in their daily work. Participants were selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using Colaizzi's framework, which focuses on identifying essential themes from participants' life experiences. Results show that interaction with AI has created a "hybrid epistemology" in which human intuitive knowledge integrates dialectically with data and recommendations from machines. Further discussion suggests that this creates epistemic tension, where trust in personal intuition competes with the validity of algorithmic data. The main conclusion is that career counselors and practitioners need to develop a new framework that takes this duality of knowledge into account. The recommendation from this study is the need for a career approach that focuses not only on developing technical skills, but also on strengthening individual self-reflection and epistemic literacy to navigate an increasingly complex and AI-driven career landscape. In the educational context, these findings implicitly reinforce the urgency for career guidance services to dynamically systematically prepare students and university students to build cognitive autonomy ahead of the AI-integrated workforce.

Abstract

This community service activity was designed to strengthen the professional capacity of Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers in applying the reality counseling approach as a relevant strategy for addressing student learning problems at the junior high school level. The training involved 20 BK teachers who are members of the MGBK SMP in Malang City and was conducted through a blended format combining online and face-to-face sessions. Materials covered an introduction to the fundamentals of reality counseling, analysis of learning problems, application of counseling techniques, and the use of digital media. The results showed a significant increase in the understanding, technical skills, and self-confidence of the BK teachers in delivering more effective counseling services. Furthermore, the program served as a platform for sharing best practices and strengthening collaborative networks among BK practitioners. These findings suggest that reality counseling holds considerable potential as a practical approach to improving the quality of guidance services in schools.

Abstract

Digital development presents challenges for the student learning process. The hybrid approach is one solution, especially in lecture practices that have greater needs. The process of implementing humanistic counseling has its own difficulties. Based on these conditions, a counseling practice guide is needed that is in accordance with the current context and conditions so that it can improve the competence of prospective counselors in the 21st century. So, this study aims to develop a hybrid humanistic counseling practice guide based on the case method reflectively to improve the competence of prospective counselors. This study uses the ADDIE development model with research subjects of prospective counselor students, counseling experts and media experts. The results of the study showed the assessment of counseling experts and prospective product users, namely humanistic counseling supervisors with an assessment index result of 1, which means that the guide has very high acceptability. The test results on 83 humanistic practicum students showed an Asymp. signature value. (2-tailed) of 0.000 below 0.05 so that these results show acceptable results, namely that the hybrid humanistic counseling practice guide based on the case method can improve student skills.
