Abstract

Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) frequently leads to post-concussion symptoms (PCS) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), both of which may hinder recovery if not identified early; however, research on these conditions remains limited. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of PCS and PTSD one month after mTBI and to describe demographic and clinical characteristics, including age, gender, education, employment, injury mechanism, and comorbidities. This study employed adescriptive observational design using descriptive statistics. A purposive sampling technique recruited 65 patients based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. PCS was measured using the Rivermead Post-Concussion Symptoms Questionnaire, and PTSD was assessed using the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5. Data were collected from August to November 2024 at Prof. Dr. R.D. Kandou Hospital, Manado, North Sulawesi. Descriptive statistics were applied to analyze PCS, PTSD, and demographic characteristics. The results reported that of 65 patients with mild traumatic brain injury (mean age 30.69 years, 67.7% male), most had >9 years of education (60.0%) and were unemployed (61.5%). Motor vehicle crashes were the leading cause of injury (46.2%). One-month post-injury, 33.8% experienced post-concussion symptoms and 21.5% reported symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Conclusion, PCS and PTSD are common in the early phase after mTBI, particularly among young men and those injured in motor vehicle crashes. These findings highlight the importance of early symptom recognition, patient education, and psychological support, as well as strengthened road safety measures to reduce the impact of mTBI.

Abstract

Background: Obstructive ileus is a condition where the contents of the gastrointestinal lumen cannot be channeled distally due to a blockage or mechanical obstacle caused by abnormalities in the intestinal lumen, intestinal wall, or outside the intestine, which presses on or causes vascularization abnormalities in an intestinal segment, which causes intestinal segment necrosis. the. In children who have been diagnosed with obstructive ileus, surgery must be carried out immediately at any time; otherwise, it can cause various complications. When a child has had surgery, parents have a very big role in being able to care for the child after surgery. Therefore, parental knowledge is one of the factors in the success of child care. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of discharge planning-based education in increasing parental knowledge. Method: This study used a case study method with the implementation of discharge planning-based education regarding post-surgical obstructive ileus infant care at home for 3 days. Results: After conducting education based on discharge planning for 3 days, it was found that parents' knowledge increased regarding caring for babies with post-surgical obstructive ileus at home. Conclusion: Education based on discharge planning for parents has been proven to increase parents' knowledge regarding caring for babies with post-surgical obstructive ileus at home. Abstract

Background: Nurses' performance has a major impact on the quality of health services in hospitals. One of the main factors affecting this performance is self-efficacy, which is the nurse's confidence in carrying out nursing tasks. High self-efficacy makes nurses more confident and able to face various challenges, and provide maximum care to patients. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and performance of executive nurses. Methods: This research uses quantitative research methods with a cross-sectional approach with a sample size of 84 nurses taken using total sampling technique. The instruments used were self-efficacy questionnaire and nurse performance questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using Fisher's Exact Test alternative test to see the relationship between the two variables. Results: The results of data analysis showed a p value = 0.000 (p <0.05) which means there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and nurse performance. Conclusion: Self efficacy has a significant relationship with nurse performance. Increased self-efficacy among nurses can contribute to improved performance, which in turn has a positive impact on the quality of health services in hospitals.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a public health challenge in Indonesia. Based on the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey, the national prevalence of stunting reached 21.5%, still above the national target of 14%. Preventing stunting requires a comprehensive approach through improving family nutrition literacy and optimizing the use of locally available food. This community service activity aims to analyze the effectiveness of family empowerment-based interventions in increasing knowledge about stunting prevention through education on the use of local Minahasa food. The activity used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test–post-test approach. A total of 30 participants were purposively selected from the working area of the Ranomuut Community Health Center, Manado City. The intervention included participatory education, demonstrations of local food processing, and assistance for families at risk of stunting. Knowledge was measured using questionnaires before and after the intervention and analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results show that the mean knowledge score increased significantly from 71.67 ± 5.31 to 85.00 ± 5.72 (p < 0.001). The mean difference of 13.33 points with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.87) indicates a strong practical impact of the intervention. Participants showed an increased understanding of stunting prevention and the ability to utilize local foods such as corn, sweet potatoes, moringa leaves, gedi leaves, and seafood as sources of nutrition for complementary feeding and toddler food. The conclusion is that empowerment-based interventions through education, demonstrations, and family assistance can increase families' knowledge about stunting prevention through the use of local Minahasa food ingredients. This approach has the potential to be replicated as a contextual and sustainable promotive-preventive strategy in supporting the acceleration of stunting reduction at the community level.
