Abstract

Abstract               Digital developments show a positive trend from year to year, especially for Indonesia based on data from WeAreSocial that collaborates with Hootsuite in 2018, it is known that the number of internet users reaches 132 million people. This number shows that half or more than 50 percent of Indonesia's population can access the internet. Young people and the internet are two things that are closely related. The magnitude of the penetration of young people relates to the type of content accessed. Based on this, it is interesting to know the use of internet and social media for young people in rural areas. This study aims to: 1) Know the internet use of young people in Ciasmara Village; 2) Knowing the use of social media for young people in Ciasmara Village. Quantitative methods are used to process data using descriptive analysis to determine the characteristics of respondents and the use of the internet and social media. This study found that the internet use of young people in Ciasmara Village is known that the largest frequency is rare, with an average duration of 3.4 hours per week, access on social media, the place / media used is mobile phones. The use of social media for young people in Desa Ciasmara is known that the biggest frequency is rare, with an average duration of 2.6 hours per week access to social media, the place / media used is school computers. Keywords: Young people, rural, internet use, social media use.

Abstract

AbstractDiscourse about how far religions are able to develop and destroy a society still worth to discuss. Different type of study between west and east (Islamic State) producing different conclusion. The fundamental different is located in the role of religion to society, in west area, there is still no evidence that religion can give any benefit toward societies’ life, meanwhile in east life there is evidence that religion can contribute positively toward societies’ life. These two differents type of conclusion become important assets in studying contemporary social-religion phonemenon. Abstract

Teknologi pertanian dari satu sisi dapat dilihat sebagai sebuah anugerah yang dapat meningkatkan produksi. Di Kabupaten Sidenreng Rappang, Combine Harvester (Kemudian akan disingkat CH) sudah 4 tahun terakhir diperkenalkan sebagai salah satu strategi meningkatkan produksi. CH m erupakan alat pemotong padi yang mampu secara cepat memanen padi di sawah. Namun, di satu sisi kemunculan CH menimbulkan permasalahan tersendiri. Keberadaan mobil panen ini mengancam eksistensi buruh panen yang sudah lama menjadikan kegiatan panen sebagai salah satu strategi bertahan hidup musiman mereka. Sebelum kehadiran CH,  dalam satu hektar dapat menyerap tenaga kerja sekitar 30 orang (laki – laki dan perempuan) sehingga lebih terjadi distribusi pendapatan secara lebih adil. Paska kemunculan CH, tenaga panen yang terserap maksimum hanya 7 – 8 orang (laki – laki saja). Dalam kondisi yang “normal” harusnya para buruh panen yang kehilangan pekerjaannya melakukan perlawanan terhadap keberadaan CH karena kehilangan sumber pendapatan, namun pada kenyataannya tidak ada yang perlawanan buruh karena pemilik CH adalah tuan tanah kaya desa yang memiliki sawah puluhan hektar dan digarapkan kepada masyarakat.  Kata Kunci: Ketidakberdayaan, Buruh Panen, Teknologi Pertanian, Tuan tanah

Abstract

The agricultural sector is holding a pivotal position to national income but however, the importance of the agricultural sector is not supported by the regeneration of agriculture workers. The number of agricultural workers continuously decreasing during a time, in order to understand these phenomena there is a number of factors that have led to a decline in youth participation in the agriculture sector, yet there is only limited research that is trying to determine the relationship between socialization agent and working preference. This study has several objectives, among others: (1) Identifying youth interactions with peer-group in the agricultural sector. (2) Identifying youth attitudes towards agriculture work (3) Analyzing the correlation between interactions with friends in the agricultural sector with youth attitudes towards agriculture work. This research uses a quantitative method with a descriptive - correlational approach and was taken place in Ciasmara Village, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency from March 2019 until Juli 2019. A total of 129 youth were selected as research respondents in this study. This study found that parents and peers have important positions in making youth interested in working in the agricultural sector. The two primary socialization agents were able to influence youth with different approaches. Parents through work-involvement as family labor meanwhile, the peer-groups through doing activities together in farmland.

Abstract

The phenomenon related to the low participation of young people to work in the agricultural sector, it is necessary to be studied more new perspectives. Moreover, the perspective of how agriculture itself is constructed by their social system, in this case, how parents and peers construct the notion of agriculture. The objectives of this study are 1) to identify the differences between the attitudes of male and female rural youth towards work in the agricultural sector, 2) to analyze differences in the patterns of socialization of parents and peers to male and female rural-youth about work in the agricultural sector, and 3) analyze the differences between the relationship patterns of socialization of parents and peers with the attitude of male and female rural youth towards agricultural work. This research was conducted in Ciasmara Village, Pamijahan Sub-district, Bogor District from July 2019 to February 2020 using quantitative research methods with a descriptive-comparative approach. A total of 69 young women and 60 young people were selected as research samples. This study found that there were differences in attitudes between male and female rural youth related to work in the rice agriculture sector. Parents were the actors who most highly socialize the value of agriculture to young men and women in the form of involving the activities of growing rice, cultivating land, and harvesting. Meanwhile, both parents and peers have positively correlated with the attitudes of young men and women about work in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

Agriculture is one of the important sectors that contribute to national income. However, agricultural development currently has a tendency to increase productivity so that it impacts on the agricultural system which tends to make agriculture is more just an activity that produces agricultural "commodities" Mainstreaming agriculture into "commodity agriculture" has an impact on the destruction of cultural infrastructure supporting agriculture. This study aims to: Identify "Goah" in Ciasmara Village, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency. This study uses a Rapid-Ethnography approach, located in the village of Ciasmara, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency from March 2019 - August 2019. This research found that in Ciasmara village there is still a "goah", but its form is no longer limited to a special space where to place rice but the "Goah" has transformed into another form such as a bucket or a special drum. The transformation form of the "Goah" is a result of the limitations of domestic space and the shift in the value of agricultural sacredity in the village.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the high number of rural-youth migration from rural areas need to be studied from the perspective on how the agricultural livelihood is constructed by actors within the village. This research tries to focus on how rural-youth interpret messages on television about agricultural livelihood. Previous studies have explained that there are several things that can cause youth in the village to migrate out of the village. This study aims to (1) identify the characteristics of youth in Ciasmara Village, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency, (2) Rural-youth Exposure in watching television. (3) Perceptions of rural youth on agricultural information representations on television. This research was conducted in Ciasmara village, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency from March 2020 to August 2020 using quantitative research methods with a descriptive-comparative approach. 120 youth were selected as research samples. This research found that some of rural-youth in Ciasmara village admitted to having watched agricultural programs on television either on the news or in other programs in the last six months. The types of agricultural information that rural-youth in Ciasmara village have watched are mostly related to cultivation, harvest failure, pest attacks, and low agricultural prices.

Abstract

Family is an important social unit that forming youth identity, but in the other hand family is also a place where contestation happened. Power-relation inside family is commonly happened during several activities such as watching television, having dinner, and prior go to school. The objective of this research is to unmasking the reality of power relation in television watching activities. Qualitative method is used to dissect this phenomenon. In the context of families that only have one television, power relation in watching television is inevitable, especially the prime time, because at this time all family members watch television. This study found that there are several actors who hold important role in power relation, such as Little brother, Grandma, and Father. Their domination have made rural youth become marginalized on their own house

Abstract

The scarcity of human resources in the agricultural sector or the semi-forced involvement of most of agricultural labors due to the unavailability of other alternatives, has resulted in the unoptimized production process. The young peoples attitude toward farmer as a profession and its agriculture activity is affected by three major aspects, i.e. micro aspect (parents, friends, and mass media); messo aspect (the nearby community); and macro aspect (the society). This study investigates the micro aspect in building agricultural values on young people. The study used a descriptive qulitative approach to reveal the reality of value transfer from parents and also mass media to young people in rural area. The study finds that parents particularly the father as the main actor in transferring agricultural values to young people. Television is the most accessed mass media by young people. Young people still have the interest in working in the agricultural sector, not as a main job but as a side job.Keywords: attendance of mass media and parents, value of agriculture in the eyes of rural

Abstract

Rural area cannot be separated with poverty, according to Statistics Center Board (BPS), there are 18 milions rural people live below poverty line. Rural poverty has become many focus in development studies. There is a siginificant difference between rural poverty and urban poverty. Poor society in urban area are more vulnurable compared to poor society in rural area. In rural area, poor people tends to have informal social security that helps them to survive. This research aimed to determine the role of loan institution in providing social safety net for rural poor. Qualitative method was used to help us to have a better understanding about the debt institution in rural areas. This research found that rural poor have several alternatives source of debt that enable them to survive in a vulnerable situation. Most of people tend to see for a realistic loan institution with low interest (without interest is more preferable), low risk in returning the debt and fast in providing the money.
