Abstract

Media pembelajaran merupakan salah satu komponen pelajaran yang mempunyai peranan penting dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar. Adapun bahan baku pembuatan media sangat variatif, salah satu bahan baku media yang ekonomis, ramah lingkungan dan bernilai kreatifitas tinggi adalah media pembelajaran yang diciptakan dari limbah plastik dan kertas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjawab pertanyaan bagaimana pemanfaatan Limbah Plastik dan Kertas (LIPSTIK) sebagai media pengajaran Bahasa Inggris serta bagaimana jenis pemanfaatan LIPSTIK. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah Guru Bahasa Inggris pada Sekolah Dasar, yaitu Sekolah dasar yang menjadikan Bahasa Inggris sebagai muatan lokal dalam kurikulumnya. maka penelitian yang akan dilakukan ini dibatasi pada sekolah dasar di provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara, yaitu Kota Kendari. Penelitian tentang pemanfaatan LIPSTIK sebagai meengajaran Bahasa Inggris sekolah dasar di Sulawesi Tenggara ini akan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode wawancara mendalam (Depth Interviews) dan field Observation untuk menggali informasi dari informan tentang pemanfaatan LIPSTIK sebagai media ajar. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa sekolah dasar negeri yang menjadi subjek dalam penelitian ini tak satupun yang menjadikan LIPSTIK sebagai media pengajaran pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris namun memanfaatkan LIPSTIK sebagai media tanam dan juga kerajinan tangan sebagai hiasan yang digunakan di ruang kelas.

Abstract

Kegiatan penyuluhan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Puday Kecamatan Abeli Kota Kendari, dengan judul pengelolaan sampah dengan konsep 3R. Sampah tidak berarti sesuatu hal yang tidak dapat dipakai lagi atau didaur ulang. Pada umumnya sampah berasal dari kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh manusia, termasuk kegiatan industri. Sampah tidak dapat terpisahkan dengan limbah namun dalam menangani limbah memiliki perlakuan yang berbeda. Limbah bersumber langsung dari kegiatan industri yaitu limbah yang terproduksi bersamaan dengan proses produksi sedang berlangsung, dimana produk dan limbah hadir pada saat yang sama. Target penyuluhan mengharapkan seluruh masyarakat Kelurahan Puday dapat menerapkan pengeloaan sampah konsep 3R, dengan metode survey. Kegiatan penyuluhan sangat diapresiasi oleh Lurah setempat serta masyarakat Kelurahan Puday. Potensi keberlanjutan program diuraikan dalam dua potensi yang berbeda yaitu potensi keberlanjutan program jangka pendek meliputi masyarakat Kelurahan Puday dapat mengelola sampahnya masing-masing, memilah sampah dari sumbernya, menyiapkan pewadahan sampah, membuang sampah di TPS, dan mereduksi sampah dimulai dari rumah masing-masing. Sedangkan potensi keberlanjutan program jangka panjang, meliputi pemisahan sampah organik dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan biogas dan sampah anorganik dijadikan sebagai kerajinan tangan yang bernilai ekonomi. Dengan demikian masyarakat Kelurahan Puday dapat meminimalisasi timbunan sampah dan menerapkan pengelolaan sampah konsep 3R.

Abstract

Limbah kulit durian menjadi salah satu permasalahan yang belum banyak dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sebagai bahan bioadsorben ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini menghadirkan pemanfaatan limbah kulit durian sebagai media filtrasi untuk mengurangi kadar logam berat kadmium (Cd) dan timbal (Pb) yang terkandung pada air sumur galian. Penyiapan kulit durian dilakukan dengan mengeringkan kulit durian dan memberikan variasi ukuran media filtrasi yaitu 10 cm, 20 cm, dan 30 cm. Media filtrasi kulit durian dimasukkan dalam alat filtrasi yang telah didesain berbasis aliran gravitasi yang mudah dan murah. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan awal kadar Cd dalam air sumur galian sebesar 0,0073 mg/L dan setelah dilakukan perlakuan dapat menurunkan kadar Cd sampai dengan 0,0032 mg/L atau efektifitasnya sampai dengan 55,76% dengan menggunakan media filtrasi 30 cm. Demikian pula kadar Pb sebelum perlakuan memiliki kadar sebesar 0,062 mg/L dan setelah dilakukan perlakuan terjadi penurunan kadar Pb sampai dengan 0,024 mg/L atau efektifitasnya sampai dengan 61,3%. Penurunan kadar logam ini sangat signifikan dan dapat memenuhi standar baku mutu air yang ditetapkan sebesar 0,005 mg/L. Selain itu, faktor penurunan kadar Pb dan Cd dipengaruhi oleh semakin tinggi tumpukan media maka semakin lama waktu kontak air dengan media filter sehingga semakin banyak ikatan kompleks antara selulosa dengan logam berat.

Abstract

Water cleanliness plays an important role as a parameter in observing the quality of water that is suitable for consumption for every human life. This is certainly reflected in the health of a healthier life, but so far it is still low in the water quality that is suitable for community use. This study presents a simple technology to design water filtration using an up-flow system (bottom to up) and finds the effectiveness of the filtration media in reducing the content of iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) metals in groundwater. Water samples were taken from Bukit Fadiah Asri Housing, Kendari City, and tested using three variations of media composition consisting of fiber, gravel, activated charcoal, black sand, and silica which flowed from bottom to top by gravity. Based on these results indicate that type B media material consisting of gravel, palm fiber, black sand, activated charcoal, silica, and palm fiber with a media thickness of 10 cm has a very good level of effectiveness which can reduce the metal content of Fe by 75% and Mn by 66%. This simple and inexpensive filtration media can be applied to the community to neutralize groundwater turbidity and reduce Fe and Mn metal content because it is used as an adsorption medium for heavy metals in water.

Abstract

Wanggu River is the largest river in Kendari City – Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), whose condition is very poor because it is a final place for disposal of household and industrial wastewater. It will be impacted by decreasing water quality and silting sedimentation. In this study, it is important to analyze the water quality of the Wanggu River with several physical and chemical parameters analysis such as the determination of total suspended solids (TSS), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), the content of phosphate (PO4), and detergent pollutants which are determined based on location sampling such as upstream, middle, and downstream. Based on these results showed that the TSS and PO4 contents from the upstream, middle, and downstream points had increased in concentration, while the BOD and detergent contents have decreased in the downstream area. However, this condition shows that the Wanggu River is still categorized as Class II within the normal threshold. These results are expected to become a reference for the government and society in improving wastewater management and increasing knowledge in managing river water quality.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of liquid waste discharge at the hospital. Data from the number of hospital patient beds is 54 beds, so the activities taking place in Aliyah Hospital 3 in Kendari city produces a maximum discharge of liquid waste of 3.78/day. The form and design of processing liquid waste which is a rectangle with anaerobic- aerobic bio filter treatment system. Liquid waste processing with anaerobic-aerobic bio filter process consists of several parts namely the oil separator tank, equalization tank, early settling tank, anaerobic bio filter tank, aerobic bio filter tank, final settling tank and equipped with a chlorinated contractor tub. As for the size of each tank, which is like an oil separator tank (0,9 m × 0,5 m × 0,7 m), equalization tank (2,6 m × 1,3 m × 1,1 m), early settling tank (1,6 m × 0,8 m × 0,9 m), anaerobic bio filter tank (2,5 m × 1,3 m × 1,4 m), aerobic bio filter tank (1,8 m × 1 m × 1 m), final settling tank (1,8 m × 0,7 m × 0,7 m) and chlorinated tank (0,6 m × 0,3 m × 0,4 m). This process system was chosen because it is in accordance with the amount of liquid waste treatment system is safe, inexpensive and easy to operate.

Abstract

Southeast Sulawesi Province has great mining potential to support Indonesia's national mining. Especially in Bombana Regency, it has the potential for gold mining, but with mining activities, the mining area becomes nutrient-poor and toxic. Based on this research, we observed the levels of pH, mercury (Hg), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Copper (Cu) that accumulated in the waters around the gold mining area. The results showed that the pH level in sector 1 was 9.5 and sector 2 was 9.72. The Hg level also shows -0.0021 mg/L and -0.0014 mg/L. On the other hand, the high TSS content for sector 1 was 930 mg/L due to the sampling point being very close to the gold mining sector, while sector 2 started to decline by 410 mg/L. Cu analysis showed the same value, namely -0.00032 mg/L, it was concluded that the gold quality in sectors 1 and 2 had the same grade.

Abstract

The community health center is one of the health service units which in its activities produces solid medical waste. The Oneembute Health Center, Onembute District, Konawe Regency - Southeast Sulawesi does not yet have an incinerator to manage solid medical waste. In this study, we analyze the solid medical waste management system at the Oneembute Health Center whether it was in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry No.P.56/Menlhk-Setjen/2015 regarding procedures and technical requirements for the management of hazardous waste and hazardous materials. toxic from health care facilities. The research method was applied by using the descriptive research method and qualitative approach. Based on these results showed that the implementation of the solid medical waste management system starting from the sorting stage to the final processing stage of the Onembute Health Center had not fully complied with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number: P.56/Menlhk-Setjen/2015 concerning Procedures and Requirements. Abstract

The provision of clean water is currently very crucial when entering the rainy season. This is because the occurrence of rainwater affects the turbidity of groundwater and surface water which is usually used for daily needs by the community. Especially in the Lepo-Lepo sub-district area, RT 012-RW 006; RT 013-RW 006, and RT 014-RW 006 are often affected by the high rainy intensity and frequently flooded. So that in this study aims to determine the total clean water consumption for the next 5 years and design a reservoir building for flood victims in the Lepo - Lepo sub-district. The quantitative method is applied by calculating flood-affected communities, projecting clean water consumption, and planning the design of clean water reservoirs. Based on our results, the population projection for flood-affected communities in 2025 is 349 people. Subsequently, the total of clean water consumption for flood victims is 38,400 liters/day which same as the average daily consumption is 6.62 liters/second and the maximum daily use has required of 7.95 liters/second. Moreover, the daily water consumption for high-intensity work is 11.96 liters/second. So we calculated and estimated the reservoir volume is 17.45 m3 with a building length of 4.8 m, a width of 2.4 m., and a height of 1.50 m with the results of 28×14 meters.

Abstract

Clean water is needed in fulfilling human needs to carry out all activities so it is necessary to know how water is said to be clean in terms of quality and can be used in adequate quantities in human daily activities. In terms of quality, there are several requirements that must be met, including physical quality consisting of odor, color, and taste, chemical quality consisting of pH, hardness, and so on as well as biological quality where the water is free from disease-causing microorganisms. One of the water sources that are still widely used by the people of Pulau Tenga Village, Kec. Menui Central Sulawesi Islands is dug well water. The high hardness value in the dug well water is 518 mg/L. It can be identified that the water contains lime so it is necessary to treat water in order to meet clean water quality standards. One of the efforts that must be done is to make water treatment by filtration. The design of the filter device is made of pipe measuring 3 inches. The filter material used for the bioring, water filter, zeolite, and activated carbon which is applied in a water filtration filter device with a filtration flow rate of 0.006 L/s.
