Improving Students' Ability in Writing Recount Text by Using Topical Approach at Second Grade of Junior High School Agnes Wiana Situmorang; Himpun Panggabean

This study is about improving writing recount text by using topical approach. This objective of this research is to find out whether the use of topical approach improves the students’ skill in writing recount text or not. The subject of this study was one class of the grade. Ten students of SMPN 28 Medan Johor which consisted of 30 students. The action research was conducted of july 2018. The quantitative data were taken from writing test as the instrument to find out students score. The qualitative data were taken from observation sheet, questionnaire, interview and diary notes and obseervation sheet describe the improvement of students’ skill in writing recount text was mostly improved in every test. The observation sheet and diary notes showed that the students were interested in the teaching learning process. These finding show thatthere was an improvement on the students’skill in writing recount text by using topical approach that was supported by the result, the mean score post test cycle I (75, 06) was better than mean score pre test ( 57, 43) and the mean score of post test cycle II ( 82, 03) was better than the mean score of post test cycle I. There were also positive changes in students’ behavior in learning English. During the action, the students paidgood participation to the lesson. The students were more active in joining the processof teaching and learning. Therefore, it canbe concluded that topical approach can improve the students’ skill in writing recount text. Emotion analysis is a process of identifying the human emotions derived from the various data sources. Emotions can be expressed either in monolingual text or code-switch text. Emotion prediction can be performed through machine learning (ML), or deep learning (DL), or lexicon-based approach. ML and DL approaches are computationally expensive and require training data. Whereas, the lexicon-based approach does not require any training data and it takes very less time to predict the emotions in comparison with ML and DL. In this paper, we proposed a lexicon-based method called non-binding lower extremity exoskeleton (NBLex) to predict the emotions associated with Kannada-English code-switch text that no one has addressed till now. We applied the One-vs-Rest approach to generate the scores for lexicon and also to predict the emotions from the code-switch text. The accuracy of the proposed model NBLex (87.9%) is better than naïve bayes (NB) (85.8%) and bidirectional long short-term memory neural network (BiLSTM) (84.7%) and for true positive rate (TPR), the NBLex (50.6%) is better than NB (37.0%) and BiLSTM (42.2%). From our approach, it is observed that a simple additive model (lexicon approach) can also be an alternative model to predict the emotions in code-switch text.

Reading is one of the language skills. That should be mastered by students, especially for senior High School. Objectives and development of knowledge, technology, art, and culture, and relationship with the others country. It is true that language is really necessary for education. The problem of this research is How to improve the students’ reading comprehension through scientific approach. The study aimed to improve the students’ reading comprehension through scientific approach. This research design of this study was classroom action research (CAR). This research is conducted at XI Agama 2 of MA Al-Amiriyyah Blokagung, it was known that the students had problem in reading comprehension. Based on the result of analysis of the data, can be concluded that the application of scientific approach in learning report text can improve the students’ reading comprehension. It can be shown from the result of mean score and test score have increased. The mean score in pre-cycle was 65,78 and the percentage of completeness of 37%, in cycle 1 was 69,47 and percentage of completeness of 63%, the mean score in cycle 2 was 81,05 and percentage of completeness of 100%.

Contextual Teaching and Learning Approach is a holistic educational process that aims to motivate students to understand the meaning of the subject matter being studied by connecting the material to the context of their daily lives so that students have knowledge/skills that can be flexibly applied (transferred) from one problem/context to another. This study aims to determine the improvement students' ability in writing descriptive texts through CTL and the advantages of using the CTL approach. Contextual Teaching and Learning techniques to teach descriptive writing is proven to be helpful in increasing student progress. Therefore, this study uses a qualitative research approach as a research strategy, so a literature review will be used. Based on these data, the training approach is effective in developing descriptive text writing skills, with the results of the activities covering library data collection methods, reading and taking notes, and material management. The results of this study reveal a number of advantages of CTL. This includes, involving students in writing activities; improve students' enthusiasm to engage actively in writing classes; assist students in constructing their writing; assist students in problem solving; give a venue for students to communicate or discuss with their classmates; and assist students in summarizing and reflecting on lesson content. it can be concluded that The contextual approach is a very appropriate vehicle for teachers to empower the potential of students according to the needs and the school environment and their lives. According to these findings, it is suggested the CTLcan be used in the classroom to improve students' descriptive text writing skills.

Plagiarism is an act of literature fraud, which is presenting others’ work or ideas without giving credit to the original work. All published and unpublished written documents are under the cover of this definition. Plagiarism, which increased significantly over the last few years, is a concerning issue for students, academicians, and professionals. Due to this, there are several plagiarism detection tools or software available to detect plagiarism in different languages. Unfortunately, negligible work has been done and no plagiarism detection software available in the Bengali language where Bengali is one of the most spoken languages in the world. In this paper, we have proposed a plagiarism detection tool for the Bengali language that mainly focuses on the educational and newspaper domain. We have collected 82 textbooks from the National Curriculum of Textbooks (NCTB), Bangladesh, scrapped all articles from 12 reputed newspapers and compiled our corpus with more than 10 million sentences. The proposed method on Bengali text corpus shows an accuracy rate of 97.31%

This study is designed to improve the ability of the students in writing by using Process Writing Approach. Consequently, the research problem formulated in this research is “How can Process, Writing Approach be implemented to improve the ability of the tenth grade students of SMAN 2 Probolinggo in writing procedure text”. To answer the problem, a classroom action research design was used on April 22, 2019 until May 15, 2019.This study belongs to Classroom Action research (CAR) chose it because writing procedure text conducting in that semester. The preliminary test indicates that only 4 students scored above the suggested mastery learning of 78. The target was achieved in second cycles. Based on the finding above, it is recommended that procedure writing approach can be implemented to improve of the student’s ability in writing procedure text. Beside the result of the study showed that the students were enthusiastic, motivated and actively involved in teaching and learning process. Key words: Students writing ability, procedure text, process writing approach.

The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical evidence about the effectiveness of the use of the Process Approach on the ability to write argumentative texts of students in the eleventh grade of MAS Al Barokah. The population of this study was the eleventh grade students of MAS Al Barokah with a total sample of 25 students. The method used in this study is a quantitative method using a pre-experimental design, one grub pretest-posttest. The research instrument used in this research is a set of written tests which are given at the beginning of the meeting and at the end of the meeting after the Process Approach is applied. The data from this study were analyzed using t-test. The results obtained from the research show that there are differences in student scores in writing argumentative texts using the Process Approach before and after being given treatment. The results shown from the post-test p-value is 0.000 with a significance level of 5% (0.05). In other words, it can be concluded if the p-value (0.000) < sig a=0.05 (5%). This proves that using the Process Approach is quite effective on the ability to write argumentative texts for eleventh graders at MAS Al Barokah for the 2021/2022 academic year

This study aims to improve the students’ writing news text ability through a process approach with audio-visual media at the eighth grade of MTs Negeri 1 Lampung Timur. This research method is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection techniques in research are observation, documentation, and tests. Observational data analysis techniques and news text writing tests. Based on the analysis of observational data, the students’ writing news text ability through a process approach with audio-visual media at the eighth grade of MTs Negeri 1 Lampung Timur in the first cycle, which is 69.72 with an average value of 56.25% classical success indicators. In the second cycle that is equal to 71.87% with an average value of 87.5% classical success indicator. In the third cycle increased by 80.62% with an average value of 87.5% classical success indicator. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there was an improve the students’ writing news text ability through a process approach with audio-visual media at the eighth grade of MTs Negeri 1 Lampung Timur.

The genre-based approach has been known to characterize pedagogical practices during the implementation of the 2006 school-level curriculum. Despite its prevalent use and overwhelming support by school stakeholders, the efficacy of this approach was nonetheless questionable. This paper aims to revisit the 2006 School level curriculum, its plausibility and compatibility with individual contexts and its bearing on EFL practices. It also discusses the Genre- based approach in terms of its underlying paradigms, and possible variables and contextual factors which might have impinged on its implementation. Some research findings on the adoption of the approach in Southeast Asia context are also presented to provide insights into how the Genre-based approach could be efficiently adopted. This essay con- cludes with some ideas for the amendment to the 2006 school- level curriculum and how the genre-based approach might still be relevant in the context of teaching writing skills at tertiary education

This research was conducted to design Vocabee as a teaching and learning media to teach Vocabulary to the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Hulu Gurung. The form of this research was Design and Development. This design dan development research was conducted to produce innovative teaching media. The method of this research was adapted from Branch (2009), that consists of three phases namely analyzing, designing, and developing. In the Analyze phase found that the actual conditions of students and the teacher. Design phase was done to prepare the appropriate material to create the application. Develop phase was done to create an essential part of the Vocabee using software called Articulate Storyline 3. The designed product was completed after have an expert validation regarding to the needs and already valid to be use by expert validator. As the result, Vocabee is useable to support the process of teaching and learning vocabulary to the eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Hulu Gurung.
