Abstract

This research is based on students’ motivation to participate an English speech competition. This research aims at knowing students’ motivation to participate an English speech competition II at STAIN Batusangkat in 2011/2012 academic year. This research is a qualitative research which describes students’ motivation to participate an English speech competition II at STAIN Batusangkar. Informants in this research were all students that participated an English speech competition II that consisted 25 participants trough snowball sampling. Instrument used in this research was interview. Interview was used to get the data about students’ motivation to participate an English speech competition II that registered in 2011/2012 academic year. Result of this research shows that there two kinds of motivation that students participate an English speech competition; intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is divided into 6 types, namely: 1) the need for self-confidence to speak in public; 2) the need for practicing English in order to improve English and to pronounce English well; 3) the need for measuring English speaking ability compete to others participants; 4) the need for showing that non-English students are able to speak English; 5) the need for happiness that can be participant an English speech competition; 6) the need for having relationship with other participants. Furthermore, extrinsic motivation can be divided into 5 types, namely: 1) the need for getting rewards; 2) the need for supporting by others; 3) the need for a test; 4) the need for winning and competing other participants; 5) the need for getting experience. Dealing with students’ motivation above, it can be said that “the need for self-confidence to speak in public” is the most dominant (30.8 %) of students’ motivation to participate the English speech competition.

Abstract

Reading comprehension becomes a problem in learning English for the tenth-grade students of SMK Start-Up Dara Jingga since they have low achievement in reading comprehension. This research aims at improving students' skills in reading comprehension by using Multipass Strategy. It is conducted by using classroom action research which contains planning, action, observation, and reflection. Subjects of this research were students of the tenth-grade of SMK Start Up Data Jingga. The class consisted of 16 students; 7 boys and 9 girls. Then, the data of this research were quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative data were gained from scores of students of the reading task and test in every cycle. Meanwhile, the qualitative data were collected through the result of observation. The finding of the research from cycle 1 up to cycle 2 shows that Multiple Strategy enables to improve students’ skill in reading comprehension. In cycle 1, the students' score increases to 87.5 %. Furthermore, the increase of the quantitative data was supported by qualitative data, such as classroom activity, teaching, strategy, and teachers. It can be said that multipass strategy can be used to improve the students' skills in reading comprehension especially at tenth-grade students of SMK Start-Up Dara Jingga.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in grade VI SDN 17 Sitiung. One effective way to overcome this problem is to use the “5E” Learning Cycle model, this study aims to determine the effect of the “5E” Learning Cycle model on student learning outcomes. This study uses a pre experimental design method in the form of one group pretest. The population in this study was grade VI students with a total of 20 students, the sampling technique was non-probability sampling saturated (census) technique. The data collection technique was carried out by giving a pretest, then continued with treatment and then posttest, the data analysis technique used SPSS 20. The result showed that there was a significant effect on the Learning Cycle “5E” model on the learning outcomes of sixth grade students at SDN 17 Sitiung Dharmasraya regency, with a significance level of 0,000<0,05 meaning H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low interest of students in learning Indonesian.  The low interest of students in learning Indonesian affects students' writing skills and students' inability to express ideas or ideas in written form.  The fact that we can see from the results of the Mid-Semester Assessment (MSA) is still unsatisfactory.  In this study, researchers conducted a study using the Direct Instruction model.  The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Direct Instruction model on writing skills in the Indonesian subject of theme 2 class V SD N 14 Koto Baru.  The type of this research is Pre-Experimental Design, the design of this research is One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design.  The research was conducted at SD N 14 Koto Baru.  The time of this research was carried out in the Even Semester of the 2020 2021 Academic Year. The sample in this study was class V totaling 35 students. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test, a significance of 0.000 <0.05 was obtained.  So that the researcher can conclude that there is a fashion effect!  Direct Instruction on writing skills in Indonesian subjects theme 2 class v SDN 14 Koto Baru Based on research, that the Direct Instruction model has a good influence on students' writing skills in Indonesian subjects.

Abstract

The use of feedback in learning English process is interesting to be analyzed. Although it does not add much to the proportional explaining and giving instruction, but it still has much contribution to learning English process. This paper explores the teachers’ feedback (content and corrective feedbacks) in learning English process at SMAN 1 Sungai Tarab. Data were collected throughobservation and audio recording which involved 5 English teachers. All lessons were recorded and transcribed. The analysis of the transcripts revealed that almost all the types of content feedback were utilized by the teachers. And there were two types of corrective feedback neglected by the teachers. It is recommended that stakeholder of education or government should conduct some seminars related to the use of content and corrective feedbacks.Key words: Teacher Talk, Teachers’ Feedback, Learning Process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kurangya keterampilan membaca peserta didik dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, sehingga diperlukan modul bergambar, ini membantu peserta didik agar dapat membaca dengan mudah mempelajari, tertarik untuk membaca ini dengan desain yang menarik dan bergambar, tujuannya yaitu modul bergambar ini valid, praktis dan efektif. Pengembangan modul bergambar menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari 5 tahapan yaitu, analisis (analyze), Perencanaan (design), pengembangan (development), implementasi (implementation), evaluasi (evaluation). Kelima tahapan dilakukan memulai analisis materi, analisis peserta didik, analisis kebutuhan. Kemudian uji validasi olen 3 orang validator ( tim ahli ) mengatakan valid dan pratis delanjutnya dilakukan uji efektifitas dengan melakukan tes soal oleh peserta didik di SD N 107 Ngaol I Kabupaten Merangin Hasil penelitian pengembangan modul bergambar ini uji oleh tiga validator memperoleh nilai dengan rata – rata 84,72% dengan dikategori sangat valid, Nilai pratikalitas guru memperoleh nilai rata- rata 96% dan nilai Pratikalitas Peserta didik memperoleh nilai rata – rata 94,42% dengan kategori sangat praktis dan nilai efektifitas memperoleh nilai rata – rata 92,85% dengan kategori sangat. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa modul bergambar ini pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dengan hasil memenuhi kategori valid, pratis dan efektifitas. Dapat memudahkan peserta didik dan pendidik memcapai tujuan pembelajaran.

Abstract

TThe assessment in curriculum 2013 is more emphasized on authentic assessment. Authentic assessment is needed in assessing the students' performance. Since the English teacher has a limited understanding of authentic assessment and has not scored rubric therefore, it is necessary to develop an authentic assessment for writing skill. This research aims at finding out the students' needs and to develop authentic assessments for writing skills. This research was a research and development method (R&D) through ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) model. This research only focuses and discusses on the design stage. The design stage consists of designing models and scoring rubrics for writing skill.  The results of this research show that there are 4 types of models and scoring rubrics, namely:  1) Essay Question, 2) Short answer and sentence completion task, 3) Fill the blank, and 4) Picture cued task. These models were valid and practice categories to be used in assessing or improving students' writing skills. The models of authentic assessment that have been designed effectively can be applied to assess students' writing process because they are based on practical theories that have been developed.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menggunakan media lagu anak pada siswa kelas V SDN 43 Sungai Sapih Padang dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar pada mata pelajaran IPA. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah 22 siswa kelas V. Penelitian dilakukan dalam II siklus, dan proses penelitian meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa 87,5% pada RPP siklus I, dan 96% pada siklus II, 79,65 pada aspek guru pada siklus I, 95,8% pada siklus II, dan 76,6% pada siswa siklus I. Siklus II 84,7%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penggunaan media lagu anak dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA SDN 43 Sungai Sapih Padang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran IPA masih banyak yang belum mencapai KKM, Hal ini karena penggunaan model pembelajaran yang diterapkan guru masih kurang maksimal dan model pembelajaran yang digunakan belum bervariasi sehingga siswa merasa bosan dan pasif dalam kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Terhadap Hasil Belajar IPA di Kelas V di SD Negeri 37/II Pasar Lubuk Landai Kabupaten Bungo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian Preeksperimen Design, dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan bentuk desain menggunakan rancangan Quasi-Experimen metode Non-Equivalent Group Pre-test Post-test Design. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD Negeri 37/II Pasar Lubuk Landai. Pengambilan sampel penelitian ini menggunakan teknik Probality Sampling (Secara Acak), yang terdiri dari 18 orang siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik tes dan non-tes. Alat pengumpul data berupa soal pilihan ganda yang berjumlah 20 butir soal pre-test maupun post-test melalui uji validasi, dan uji reabilitas. Data dianalisa menggunakan Uji Normalitas, Uji Homogenitas dan Uji Hipotesis/t-test yang diolah menggunakan SPSS 22. Hasil perhitungan uji hipotesis diperoleh sig < (0,000<0,05) yang berarti uji-t menolak keberadaan H0 dan menerima Ha yang artinya terdapat Pengaruh Model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Terhadap Hasil Belajar IPA di Kelas V di SD Negeri 37/II Pasar Lubuk Landai Kabupaten Bungo.

Abstract

Latar belakang pada penelitian ini berdasarkan pada strategi guru dalam pelaksanaan pengelolaan kelas di sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi guru dalam pengelolaan kelas di SDN 04 Sitiung Kabupaten Dharmasraya. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Sumber data pada penelitian ini di bagi dua, yaitu data primer dan data sekunder. Data primer berasal dari sumber pertama dan data sekunder berasal dari sumber kedua, ketiga dan seterusnya. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan kuesioner. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan model Milers dan Huberman yakni yang terdiri dari pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data kesimpulan.Pengelolaan kelas yang menyangkut pengaturan tempat belajar, pengaturan siswa, pemilihan bentuk kegiatan, pemilihan media pembelajaran, dan penilaian. Hal tersebut perlu dikelola dengan baik untuk menghasilkan suasana yang kondusif dan terciptannya pembelajaran yang baik pula. Pelaksanaan pengelolaan kelas di SDN 04 sitiung ini merupakan usaha untuk menciptakan kondisi belajar yang menyenangkan, agar siswa lebih nyaman dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan rekap hasil angket analisis strategi guru dalam pelaksanaan pengelolaan kelas pada proses pembelajaran di SDN 04 Sitiung bahwa 21 orang siswa yang menjadi responden angket dengan persentase 91,43 % dengan kategori sangat setuju. Dapat dilihat dari angket respon siswa di SDN 04 Sitiung sudah mampu dalam menciptakan kelas yang kondusif.
