Abstract

Information literacy is a critical skill for all students, including those with disabilities, to access and utilize knowledge effectively. This study explored the information literacy practices of students with disabilities and developed a tailored information literacy model to address their unique needs. Conducted at the State Special School of 1 Bengkulu, Indonesia (Sekolah Luar Biasa Negeri 1 Bengkulu), this research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, with participants including students with disabilities and their educators. The study revealed that students heavily rely on teachers for accessing information, utilizing sources such as books, libraries, the internet, and museums. However, their information literacy skills remain underdeveloped due to challenges associated with their disabilities. Based on these findings, the study proposed a model designed to enhance information literacy by guiding students in identifying, searching, evaluating, and effectively using information. This model aims to foster greater independence and adaptability in accessing and processing information, contributing to equitable education outcomes for students with disabilities.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Building Information Modelling, Quantity Take Off, Struktur Beton Bertulang, Tekla Structure Abstract The construction project of the laboratory building of Sumberglagah Mojokerto Hospital utilized a reinforced concrete structure, all structural elements were cast in place. During the construction process, there was a problem with the asymmetry of the structural columns. To solve the widening problem, Building Information Modeling is applied by modeling the building structure. Software Tekla Structure memungkinkan pembuatan permodelan tiga dimensi secara detail pada setiap elemen struktur. Tekla Structure can automatically calculate the quantity of materials (quantity take-off), so that the volume requirements of concrete and steel can be calculated accurately. The integration of two- dimensional and three-dimensional drawings makes it easier to read and review drawings, thereby improving the quality and accuracy of planning design and execution. The quantity take-off results show that there is a volume difference between conventional calculations and analysis from Tekla Structure. The application of Building Information Modeling using Tekla Structure is expected to provide effective solutions in solving structural problems and improve the efficiency of planning and project implementation. Abstract

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-19) to be a pandemic on March 13, 2020. Indonesia is one of the countries affected by COVID- 19, which spreads quite quickly. To support the government in making policies, an information system that can manage COVID-19 cases is needed. The purpose of this study is to design a prototype of an information system for Covid-19 cases in a city. This study employed descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. In the meantime, the System Development Life Cycle Prototyping method of designing information systems employed an object-oriented methodology. The results show that information systems' development can provide actual information for the local government and society. This information system's main concept is to take advantage of the role of the puskesmas (Community Health Centers) from each sub-district to collect data directly from the community. After obtaining the data, it will be submitted to the sub-district officer in charge of inputting it into the system. The data that has been input will go through the verification stage by the surveyor. If appropriate, then the data will be published in the latest data update on that day to access the general public. The Covid-19 case information system's prototype can improve existing systems and provide input on renewable concepts in the procedures it carries out. In the end, this prototype of the information system exists as an actual and accurate, and reliable information medium to facilitate government decision-making at regional and national levels.

Abstract

This study investigated journalists' knowledge and utilization of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in Taraba State, Nigeria, particularly in relation to its role in exposing corruption in governance. Employing a quantitative research approach with a descriptive survey design, the study targeted 144 registered journalists, from which a sample of 84 respondents was selected using stratified and random sampling techniques. Data were collected through face-to-face administration of a questionnaire, ensuring content validity through expert review and confirming reliability via a pilot study. The findings revealed that while journalists in Taraba State possess a moderate level of awareness regarding the FOIA, their understanding of its provisions and practical application remains limited. The utilization of the FOIA to combat corruption was found to be low, with many journalists rarely using the law to expose corruption. Challenges such as bureaucratic delays, resistance from government officials, insufficient information, political pressures, and the complex process of requesting data under the FOIA were identified as major barriers to its effective use. The study recommends training for journalists on the FOIA, improvements in government response processes, stronger legal protections for journalists.
