Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of taxpayer understanding, information technology, and the frequency of tax audits on individuals’ perceptions regarding the morality of tax evasion. The study is based on a population of 142,629 individuals, with a sample size of 150 respondents chosen through convenience sampling as outlined by the Slovin formula, specifically focusing on taxpayers registered at KPP Pratama Pondok Aren. Data collection was conducted via questionnaires, and the analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 26. The findings indicate that the frequency of tax audits has a significant effect on the perception of tax evasion ethics, whereas taxpayer understanding and information technology do not exhibit any notable impact. This study enhances the understanding of taxpayer ethics and behavior, and recommends the use of more diverse research methods and the inclusion of additional variables for more in-depth results.

Abstract

One of the most frequently used techniques for removing background noise from electroencephalogram (EEG) data is adaptive noise cancellation (ANC). Nonetheless, there exist two primary disadvantages associated with the adaptive noise reduction of EEG signals: the adaptive filter, which is supposed to be an approximation of contaminated noise, lacks the reference signal. The mean squared error (MSE) criterion is frequently employed to achieve this goal in adaptive filters. The MSE criterion, which only considers second-order errors, cannot be used since neither the EEG signal nor the EOG artifact are Gaussian. In this work, we employ an ANC system, deriving an estimate of EOG noise with a discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and input this signal into the reference of the ANC system. The entropy-based error metric is used to reduce the error signal instead of the MSE. Results from computer simulations demonstrate that the suggested system outperforms competing methods with respect to root-mean-square-error, signal-to-noise ratio, and coherence measurements.

Abstract

Information is an essential company asset that must be protected. The value of information assets depends on the type and scale of the business and its role in delivering services. One of the primary programs that can help identify areas of improvement and guide the development of security awareness programs is risk assessment. Managing cybersecurity risks is critical to protecting enterprises from developing cyber threats and promoting resilience. This includes detecting, assessing, and mitigating risks to protect sensitive data, systems, and networks. While cybersecurity risk management is challenging, organizations may improve their security posture. This paper seeks to contribute to the field of information security risk assessment by leveraging the power of machine learning to provide quick, cost-effective, and individualized risk assessments for small and medium enterprises. Specifically, we extend the evaluation for security level classification by utilizing a support vector machine, random forest, and gradient boosting algorithms. The results demonstrate how well the model detects significant cases while reducing false positives. The model’s exceptional precision ensures that its identifications are dependable, while the high recall demonstrates that it accurately detects relevant data. Precision is critical in security risk assessment because a false positive result might have profound effects.

Abstract

The role of intelligent information retrieval systems in legal research optimization has become increasingly recognized. There are many methods for exhibiting advance mentsin the proficient retrieval of legal documents. However, those methods fail to tackle the specific challenges encountered in real-world labor law searches. This research breaks new ground in Vietnamese labor law retrieval by leveraging a comprehensive dataset of 300,000 documents a cross diverse cat egories (20 document types and 27 legal fields) to train and evaluate retrieval models specifically designed for Vietnamese labor law. Unlike previous approaches, this work goes beyond simple information retrieval. It also constructs question & answer (Q&A) dataset specifically tailored to this legal domain. Be sides, this study introduces a novel approach of in corporating a legal ontology built from the data set itself. This knowledge in fusion significantly improves retrieval performance across legal search tasks, as demon strated through rigorous experimentation. These advancements empower intelligent systems to grasp the intricate semantic nuances of Vietnamese labor law.

Abstract

This study examines how high debt levels and negative earnings affect accounting information's value relevance. Positive correlations between stock prices, book value of equity per share (BVPS), and earnings per share (EPS) demonstrate the value relevance of accounting information. The sample includes 1,209 the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX)-listed enterprises in 2018-2019, in the period before the Covid-19 Pandemic. The hypotheses were tested using multiple linear regression analyses. The results prove the worth of BVPS and EPS. Next, high debt levels do not cause BVPS or EPS to lose relevance. Negative earnings reduce the relevance of BVPS and EPS. Low debt levels paired with negative earnings lower the value relevance of EPS but not BVPS. High debt levels and negative earnings lead BVPS and EPS to lose relevance. The observation period before the COVID-19 pandemic may affect the value relevance of EPS and BVPS in this investigation. This sample was chosen to avoid pandemic-related outcomes. Future research might evaluate pandemic effects. This finding demands management to control debt and prevent losses. These findings can inform authorities about excessive debt and negative earnings, such as in "special notices" on the Indonesia Stock Exchange's website. This analysis contributes to the literature by showing how high debt levels and company losses affect EPS and BVPS value relevance
