Abstract

Early identification of Student Study Status is essential for higher education institutions to implement proactive and strategic measures that facilitate timely completion of studies and mitigate dropout rates. This research intends to predict student study status with the Naïve Bayes method based on the features obtained from the implementation of Mutual Information. Feature selection through Mutual Information seeks to analyse the factors that most significantly impact the classification of student study status. The study status is categorized into three classes: dropout, enrolled, and graduate, based on 36 factors. The Mutual Information approach is employed to diminish data dimensions by discarding less relevant features while preserving critical information based on score values to achieve enhanced predictive accuracy. The selection of appropriate attributes enables the model to maintain simplicity while incorporating critical information aspects that significantly impact performance. Experiments were performed on a dataset comprising student academic variables, with data partitioning ratios of 80:20, 70:30, and 50:50 for training and testing datasets. The classification outcomes utilizing Naïve Bayes, without the use of Mutual Information across the three testing ratios, exhibited the accuracy of 68.29% in the 70:30 data split. Simultaneously, the classification outcomes utilizing Mutual Information across three test ratios are as follows: 71.64% accuracy at an 80:20 ratio with 10 selected attributes, 72.06% at a 70:30 ratio with 10 selected attributes, and the highest accuracy of 72.65% at a 50:50 ratio using 15 attributes. The utilization of the Naïve Bayes method for classifying student study status demonstrates enhanced accuracy when integrated with Mutual Information for feature selection. The findings of this study demonstrate that Mutual Information can streamline data by considering the quantity of attribute selections according to the ranking of their score values.

Abstract

The Ministry of Religious Affairs launched the REP-MEQR project to improve primary and secondary education management standards. One of its programs is the Education Management Information System (EMIS) application, a data management platform and data collection centre for schools under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. As a new system, it requires input and feedback, both positive and negative. The DeLone and McLean model is widely used to evaluate information systems. This study analyzes the success of using EMIS by applying the DeLone and McLean model. This quantitative research collects data through questionnaires distributed to 117 MT operators in Ciamis Regency. Data processing was carried out using SPSS and SmartPLS applications. The Descriptive analysis for this research uses a Likert scale to measure user perceptions of the six dimensions of DeLone and McLean in EMIS 4.0. The descriptive analysis states that all research indicators for the six dimensions of DeLone and McLean, namely system quality, information quality, service quality, use, user satisfaction, and net benefits, are rated positively. The hypothesis test was conducted to measure the influence between the variables of the DeLone and McLean dimensions. The research results indicate that not all variables influence other variables. Out of the nine hypotheses, only five were accepted. This research can be used as one of the evaluation materials by the Ministry of Religious Affairs based on the opinions of a small portion of EMIS 4.0 users as input to improve the quality of EMIS 4.0 to become an optimal information system as the central school information system in the Ministry of Religious Affairs.Kementerian Agama meluncurkan proyek REP-MEQR untuk meningkatkan standar pengelolaan pendidikan dasar dan menengah. Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has had a significant impact on various sectors, including education. One educational institution in Garut, Yayasan Al Musaddadiyah, faces challenges in effectively conveying information to prospective students. Traditional media such as brochures and pamphlets often fail to provide a comprehensive depiction and better visualization of the facilities and educational environment at the institution. As a solution, this research developed a Virtual Reality (VR) 360° media with a Sky View perspective to visualize the existing facilities and infrastructure at Yayasan Al Musaddadiyah. The study utilized the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method in the VR application development process. MDLC was chosen because it provides a systematic approach at each development stage, from concept to implementation and evaluation. In this research, various multimedia elements such as images, videos, and audio were integrated into the VR application to create an immersive and interactive experience for users. By leveraging VR 360° Sky View technology, prospective students and parents can directly view the educational environment and available facilities at the institution without physically visiting the location. Evaluation results showed that the use of VR-based information media successfully increased the interest and understanding of prospective students towards Yayasan Al Musaddadiyah. Additionally, this application proved effective in expanding the reach of information about the institution, particularly in the increasingly connected digital era. Thus, the development of VR-based information media not only provides a practical solution to the institution’s communication challenges but also opens up new opportunities as a promotional or marketing strategy for educational institutions in the future.

Abstract

Disparity in the distribution of educational facilities in developing regions is an issue to achieve equity in access to education. For example, access to senior high school (SMA) and vocational high school (SMK) has remained unequal across different sub-districts within West Bandung Regency of Indonesia and will pose a problem in attaining 12 years of compulsory education. In this research, the methods of remote sensing and GIS were integrated for analyzing the spatial distribution and accessibility to senior and vocational high school. Using data from Google Maps in 2021 and Sentinel imagery, the ANN and kernel density methods have been used in identifying the distribution pattern, while conducting buffer analysis to map coverages. In fact, there is a clustered distribution in sub-districts like Lembang, Padalarang, and Cipongkor, with isolated sub-districts like Parongpong and Rongga showing huge accessibility gaps where settlement exists over 7.5 km away from the school. These findings raise awareness of the pressing need for concerted infrastructure planning and investment at sub-national levels in pursuit of equal opportunities that are imperative for sustainable development and social equity in developing countries.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) on employee performance with job satisfaction as a mediating variable at PT. Hardo Soloplast, within the broader context of digital transformation in HR management. Utilizing a quantitative approach and Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4, the research collected data from 64 randomly selected employees. Results indicate that HRIS significantly enhances both job satisfaction and employee performance, with job satisfaction partially mediating this relationship. While the study confirms the positive impact of HRIS, it treats HRIS as a singular construct without detailing how specific functionalities such as self-service portals, performance tracking, or automated workflows affect satisfaction and performance outcomes. Moreover, the reliance on simple random sampling within a single company limits the generalizability of findings, suggesting that future research should include multi-company comparisons or more diverse sampling strategies. The literature review could be enriched by addressing conflicting evidence and exploring conditions under which HRIS might yield negative effects, such as user resistance or inadequate training. This would provide a more comprehensive and critical understanding of HRIS implementation and its varied outcomes across organizational contexts.
