<![CDATA[The aim of this research is to analyze students’ language attitude towards blended learning model for writing subject. The mix method was applied through the combination of quantitative data and qualitative data. The former was administered to the students through the four-point likert scale survey. The latter was obtained from the interview. The data was processed and computed by employing SPSS 24, then explained descriptively. The result of the study was classified into three categories namely affective, cognitive, and conative. The first was at moderate level with range 2.51--3.50. The second was at moderate level with range 2.51--3.50. The last was at moderate level with range 2.51--3.50. Overall, it is confirmed that the students positively behave on blended learning model in writing subject. In emphasizing the result, the interview illustrated that students showed good attitude on writing subject when taught by using blended learning model.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed to find out students’ writing at vocational school YPPI Tualang and know how WebQuest improves students’ writing procedure text of second-year students at vocational school YPPI Tualang. This current study was experimental research which was held at the vocational school YPPI Tualang. The experimental research involved two groups of students; they were the experimental group and the control group. The research subjects were the second-year students of vocational school YPPI Tualang. The sample of this research was taken randomly. The experimental group that belongs to the experimental group included 20 students, while the students of the control group belong to the control group were 20 students. The researcher's findings included the research results: the experimental class's analysis results show that the mean score of pre-tests in the experimental class was 63.9. The mean score of the post-test was 77.4. Meanwhile, the control class's analysis result shows that the mean score of pre-tests in the control class was 53.8, and the mean score of the post-test was 58.4. It shows that the experimental class experiences improvement in their writing test. The hypothesis testing indicates that the experimental class students' score was higher than the control class. It can be concluded that WebQuest was effective for enhancing learning writing and providing a positive learning experience.]]>

<![CDATA[Collaborative discussion is a purposeful means for lecturers to assist students’ ideas in writing. This research, therefore, aims to determine the effect of collaborative discussion using Padlet-based materials that have been previously developed by researchers for Mechanical Engineering students to enhance learning outcomes. This research was conducted at second-year undergraduate in a class of 40 students. This research was classified as a pre-experimental design. Moreover, the quantitative data were collected by using pre-test and post-test to the sample class. The finding revealed descriptive statistics of the sample studied, pre-test and post-test. For the pre-test value, an average learning outcome or mean of 60.13 is obtained. While for the post-test score, it was obtained the average value of learning outcomes of 77.25. Furthermore, the correlation coefficient or correlation is equal to 0.867 with a significance value (Sig.) of 0.000. The finding indicates that Collaborative learning using Padlet-based teaching materials in Mechanical Engineering class could influence students’ writing outcomes.]]>

<![CDATA[The Coronavirus 2019 outbreak caused the world to experience a pandemic and paralyze human activities, including the education sector. Consequently, the teaching-learning system changed from face-to-face to online. This study aimed to determine how high school students' preferences and challenges in Pekanbaru city employing the Google Classroom to learn English. This descriptive study involved 30 high school and vocational high school students as the sample who obtained through purposive sample technique. Google Form and interviews with Zoom were employed to gather the data. This study found that Google Classroom was quite effective in helping students replace the learning process during a pandemic with an online learning system. ]]>

<![CDATA[Evaluasi merupakan bagian yang sangat krucial pada proses pembelajaran untuk mengetahui ketercapaian tujuan pembelajaran. Namun, pandemi COVID-19 tidak memungkinkan untuk melaksanakan tes secara konvensional. Untuk mengatasai masalah tersebut, tim pengabdian Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris menawarkan solusi dengan memanfaatkan Google formulir sebagai alat tes agar lebih efektif dan efisien di tengah pandemi. Sararan dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian adalah guru-guru mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris SMA Negeri 1 Peranap. Kegiatan dilaksanakan secara daring. Setelah materi dipaparkan melalui video tutorial, pemateri melakukan pendampingan mengenai penggunaan Google Formulir dalam evaluasi pembelajaran. Hasil dari kegiatan adalah Guru-guru mendapatkan dampak positif dari kegiatan workshop tes digital melalui Google Formulir (68,5%) dan dapat membuat soal melalui Google Formulir (94,7%).]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to investigate the English language problems and learning strategies. The study employed a survey design which involved administering questionnaires of rating scales, using Rubin, J., & Thompson, I. (1994) and Rebecca Oxford (1990) Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL), to measure English language problems and language learning strategies from 10 Thai students of English Study Program of Teacher Training and Education Faculty at Riau Islamic University. The result of this study revealed that the most serious problem of Thai students in English Language Learning is listening and writing skills while reading skill is the least problem. Another big problem involved being unable to write an essay within limited time and always have a listening problem. Beside, the problem least mentioned is unable to understand classroom lectures in English. All Participant reported a high frequency use of strategy on the SILL. The participants reported using social strategies most frequently and metacognitive strategies least frequently but in medium range. The most frequently used strategies involved asking lecture or classmate for helping. Not trying guess if they do not fully understand what is being said was the least frequently used.]]>

<![CDATA[This research represents the descriptive research to describe students’ ability of eleventh grade students at SMAN 14 Pekanbaru in writing hortatory exposition text. The total number of eleventh grade students at SMAN 14 Pekanbaru in academic year 2015/2016 was 210 students that consisted of 7 classes. In this research, the researcher used ‘cluster random sampling technique” to choose the sample, and the total sample of this research amount to 30 students. The data was collected through writing test, where the students were asked to write a hortatory exposition text based on the topics that were provided by researcher of this research. The test was done around 90 minutes for every time of the test. The students’ entire test was scored by two persons as scorers of this research. Those two scores gave scores to the students’ test based on the criteria in the instrumentation of this research. The result showed that the student’ ability in writing hortatory exposition text was categorized “average to good”. It can be proven by the average of students’ writing test score that was 61.65 that cannot achieve the passing grade yet. Key words: Writing Ability, Hortatory Exposition Text]]>

<![CDATA[The rapid development of science and technology in the current era of globalization brings many changes in various aspects of social life. These changes include education. Recognizing this, Indonesia has published English as one of the crucial subject. However, students got some difficulties in writing. To assist students in solving writing problem, this study was conducted to know the effect of blended learning model towards students’ writing ability of the eleventh grade students at SMAN 6 Pekanbaru. Sample of the study was determined through random sampling method. There were 10 classes randomly selected. It consisted of two classes that were XI IPA 1 as experimental class and XI IPA 2 as control class. Afterwards, the experimental group was taught by applying blended learning model through Telegram Messenger and the control group was instructed through the traditional method by lecturing method. To gain data, writing test was administered. After collecting data, the mean scores of the pre-test and the post-test for the two groups were calculated using the t-test. Findings of the study revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the means of two groups in favor of the experimental group which achieved better results in the post-test. It was proved by the significant level of 0.05 which was t=3.983 and p=0.000. On the other hand, there is a significant effect of blended learning model towards students’ writing ability.]]>

<![CDATA[Quipper School is an online learning platform which consists of two portals, namely Learn for students and Link for teachers This research aimed to investigates the students‟ perception on the advantages and disadvantages of Quipper School platform in learning English. This research was conducted at SMAN 3 Mandau, and the sample was 52 students of the eleventh grade. This research used quantitative research, and the instrument is questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of 20 questions, divided into 10 questions of the advantages and 10 questions of the disadvantages. The results of this study were processed quantitatively using the Likert scale formula. The finding revealed the index advantages of 1st statement to the 10th statement were about between 60%-75%. The result indicates that students completely agree with the 10 questions of the advantages of Quipper School‟s. Equally important, the researcher also found that the students were dominant disagree with the 9 questions and were agree of 1 question of disadvantages of Quipper School‟s with the index 52%-61%. In conclusion, the students of SMAN 3 Mandau dominant disagree with the disadvantages of Quipper School and they assumed that Quipper School is an online learning platform that suitable for teachers and students in the learning process, especially in learning English.]]>

<![CDATA[This research was conducted aiming to an analysis of students’ ability in writing sequence of events based on “UP” movie by the third-year students at English Language Education Study Program of Universitas Islam Riau. This study was descriptive research and the method used in this research is the quantitative method with utilizing SPSS software to calculate the frequency, percentage, and mean score. The subject of this research were the students at the third year that consisted of 35 students and this research focused on five aspects of writing. In gathering the data, this research used Google form to collect the result writing test of the students. From the data analysis of 35 students who took the writing test, 4 students were in good to excellent level which the percentage is 11.4%. 27 students were in average to good level which the percentage is 77.1%. 4 students gain poor to average level with the percentage is 11.4% and no one of the students (0%) got poor level. Based on the researcher analysis from the result of the research, the highest score that most students could gain was in the vocabulary aspect with the mean score 3.68. Meanwhile, the lowest score that the students could gain was in fluency with the mean score 3.06. So, in this case, the researcher could interpret that the third-year students were on average to good level and able to write the sequence of events of the movie.]]>
