Abstract

The municipalities of Tanggulagin and Wedoro are considered the centre of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in the regency of Sidoarjo. These two regencies have been prepared by the government of Sidoarjo and the province of East Java to become the centre of the SMEs to develop and go into global market. Yet, due to the uncertainty of the Lapindo mud explosion, the sale and marketing distribution of the products have been significantly influenced so that the economic growth also lowered down. The research method used in this research is quantitative approach using linear multiple regression which consists of independent variables of accounting knowledge (X1) and entrepreneur personality (X2) and the moderating variable of    the environment uncertainty (X3). The dependent variable the accounting information and investment decision (Y). The results show the knowledge of accounting has no impact on the use of accounting information in making decision for investment, the entrepreneur personality, on the other hand, influences the use of accounting information in making decision for investment. Besides that, it is found that the environment uncertainty is, in fact, not the moderating variable. This variable does not moderate the knowledge of accounting and the entrepreneur personality by using the accounting information for making decision for investment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of financial performance of local governments towards the disclosure compliance of financial information on the website, as well as the political environment as a moderating variable for the effect of the financial performance of local governments towards disclosure compliance of financial infor-mation on the website. The study was conducted at the local government in Sulawesi with the sample consisting of 53 governments. The data were analyzed by partial least square (PLS). The results showed that good financial performance of local governments can encourage disclosure compliance of financial information on the website. This study also found that the political environment cannot moderate the effect of the financial performance towards the disclosure compliance of financial information on the website. This is due to the people who are interested more in paper-based reporting. The implication of this study was to encourage related re-search as well as encouraging local governments to use website as a media for finan-cial information reporting. Gorontalo district government is local government, which has excellent financial performance with complete disclosure of financial information on the website.

Abstract

Searching through online review sites becomes an alternative for consumers to obtain product information. The efficiency and effectiveness in finding quality information on the online review sites contributes to the popularity of online review sites among consumers at the moment. There are some previous studies discussing consumer trust on hotels being reviewed on online review sites, but the roles of information quality, homophily, and consumer risk propensity as antecedents of trust and online purchase intention are still questionable. The purpose of this study is to investigate how information quality, homophily, and consumer risk propensity affect consumer trust on hotels being reviewed on online review sites and on intention to make a reservation. A survey involving 430 young travelers from 16 countries was conducted in popular tourist destination. Results confirm that information quality influences consumers’ trust on hotel being reviewed and intention to make reservation. Moreover, consumer online trust is also found to affect intention to make reservation.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out, empirically, the effect of myopic loss aversion and accounting information on the behavior of investors. The method used is pure experiment by using a 2×2 factorial design between subjects. The results show that myopic loss aversion and accounting information positively affects investor behavior. Another result reveals that there is a difference in treatment (frequent and infrequent) that was equally given accounting information. There is a difference of treatment (frequent and infrequent) that was not given accounting information, but the results return obtained by investors with the treatment of frequent is higher than investors with the treatment of infrequent, it indicates that investors that were treated frequently to be more willing to take a risk, and investors proved not to experience MLA. It was not found the difference in treatment (frequent and infrequent) with accounting information with those that were not given accounting information. It can be caused by a lack of understanding of investors (in this case by the students) in interpreting and analyzing accounting information as well as private signals that still dominate the investors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of individual behavioral change on the adoption of activity- based costing (ABC) system and its usage, using Unified Theory of Accep-tance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and Information System Success Model. The sample involves 78 respondents who have positions as financial manager, controller manager, accounting manager, and production manager in mid-sized manufacturing companies in East java. The data were collected by survey method. This study used a Partial Least Square (PLS) as the data analysis method. It was found that not all of the main UTAUT models were supported, because performance expectancy and effort expectancy have no effect on behavioral intention and use behavior to adopt ABC system. Whereas, social factors, information quality and facilitating conditions had a positive effect on behavioral intention and use behavior to adopt ABC system. The different results of this study with several previous studies are probably caused by the differences in the context of system, culture and characteristics of the sample. The implication of this study is not only to propose a theoretical framework for researches in future, but also useful for companies to optimize the use of ABC system that should be supported by top level and mid-level management and the readiness of the individu-als to accept the adoption of the ABC system.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of budgetary participation on the performance of the officials of Regional Work Units (SKPD) with locus of control, job satisfaction, and relevant job information as mediating variables. The study was done on SKPD in Palu by survey using questionnaires. The sample consists of 40 people selected by using purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using multiple regressions and moderating regression analysis (MRA). The results show that budgetary participation significantly affects the performance of the SKPD in Palu. Locus of control (LoC) as a moderating variable does not strengthen the effect of budgetary participation on the performance of officials. Job satisfaction can mod-erate the effect of budgetary participation on the performance of officials. The results also reveal that relevant job information can moderate the performance of SKPD in Palu. Thus, this study proves that budgetary participation supported by job satisfac-tion and relevant job information can build the performance of SKPD in Palu.

Abstract

Local financial management improvements needs to be realized for good governance. Regulation No. 17 of 2003 requires regional governments to better manage their finances through technology based Local Finance Information Systems (SIKD). In practice, it often causes behavioral problems because it leads to changes in the system in a short time by claiming to gain a better system that complies with the financial administration system in Indonesia. Thus, the government has to pay attention to their apparatus. This study tries to find out factors for strengthening the finance staff for implementing technology-based SIKD. It used a phenomenological approach and the data were collected through observation, in-depth interview, and document analysis. Informants in this study are those who directly involved in technology-based SIKD, finance staff, and policy makers. It shows that there are three important factors for the success of technology-based SIKD. Firstly, the staff’s commitment to self- integrity. Secondly, ethics and morality for staff’s building character, and thirdly, improve the government apparatus’ capacity. In conclusion, the government should be proactive in improving the human resources quality for implementing technology-based SIKD, through socialization or training. Results of this study suggest that regional government regulates human resource development for the successful implementation of technology-based SIKD.
