Abstract

This paper argues that building a community of street children through a spiritual model can be developed in West Kalimantan to strengthen the values of monotheism. By exposing and simultaneously evaluating the current model of street child development through Talcott Parsons functionalism to see how individuals and communities integrate into a social system, and the concept of spiritual model (and spiritual intelligence) a la Danah Zohar as a form of tauhidullah values development and higher goals in street children life, the model of empowerment through the development of spiritual models needs to be placed in a sociological, social and pedagogical setting for access to educational resources and political systems. The issues and problems of street children are never separated from local identity (identity politics), and individual and group characters. Voluntaristically accepting social norms and values as such, humans are actively involved in social exchanges. Likewise, instead of one-dimensional, the individual's identity is liquid and multidimensional.

Being a civilized nation is one of the values enshrined in the Pancasila and the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. However, today the Indonesian nation can be said to be experiencing a crisis of morality. It is proven by the rise of cases of sexual crimes that occur in the community. The state through the Ministry of Social Affairs has subsequently formed a social institution that specifically copes the problems of street children. This institution is the Social Development Center for Child (SDC). The Social Development Center for Child (SDC) has a role in handling cases of street children. As according to the Government Regulation Number 2 of 2002 concerning Procedures for the Protection of Victims and Witnesses in Serious Human Rights Violations, victims are "individuals or groups of people who have suffered as a result of severe human rights violations that require physical and mental protection from threats, harassment, terror and violence from any party.

Most of them believe that children only needto know how to read, write, and count. They rather put more emphasis on informal family education(danakang). This study determined a strategy of family intervention through fundraising. In-depthobservations and interviews were conducted to members of Bajo Tribe in Bungin Permai Village,Southeast Sulawesi. The results showed that informal family education (danagang) has been conductedthrough storytelling, and children have been actively involved in performing fishermen’s jobs. Parentshave been educating their children about waves (goyya), seasons (Tempo'), coral islands (Sappa), wind (Sangei) and weather, different fishing equipment and how to build a boat (Leppa). It can be inferred thatinformal family education (danakang) is a way for members of Bajo Tribe to preserve their identity aspeople who are close to the sea, while at the same time strengthening the education system inheritedthrough maritime cultural traditions.
