Abstract

The use of physical fitness information is important in supporting students to make decisions related to healthy lifestyles and prevention of health risks. This research aims to identify the literacy of students' physical fitness information based on the ability to access, process, and utilize information. The research uses a quantitative approach with a survey design on college students. The instruments are compiled based on the Empowering Eight indicators which are grouped into three domains, namely access, processing, and utilization of information. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Mann–Whitney test to test for differences by gender. The results of the study show that the literacy of students' physical fitness information is in the medium category. Significant differences were found in the indicators of exploration, selection, organization, presentation, and application of information. Male students tend to get higher scores in the aspects of exploration, organization, communication, and application of information, while female students are more selective in choosing information. These findings show the need to strengthen physical fitness information literacy through fitness education and digital health information evaluation training to support students' healthy living behaviors.

Abstract

Background: The current digital era is marked by a persistent disparity in information access, necessitating a vital role for libraries as information access advocates. This advocacy is crucial for mitigating social inequalities and shaping Information Identity in adolescents and adults. Information Identity is defined as an individual's sense of self as an independent, critical, and ethical information user, strongly influenced by their information literacy and self-efficacy in navigating digital challenges like misinformation and the digital divide. However, vulnerable populations, such as those in rural areas or minority groups, often lack the confidence and capacity to establish this empowered identity. Purpose: This study aims to identify, analyze, and synthesize the contribution of Information Access Advocacy programs conducted by public and academic libraries in driving the formation of Information Identity among adolescents and adults. The study specifically explores the forms of advocacy, implementation strategies, specific impacts, and differences across various user populations. Methods: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the PRISMA guidelines was employed. This method involved the identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion of literature from scholarly journals and community engagement reports. This process ensured a comprehensive and unbiased synthesis of empirical evidence, focusing on four Research Questions (RQs) concerning library advocacy aspects. Results: The findings indicate that advocacy takes multiple forms, including digital literacy training programs, technological innovations (such as online catalogs and e-books), and collaborations with governing bodies to ensure equitable access. Implementation strategies involve interactive workshops and inclusive programs designed to enhance both information literacy and user self-efficacy. The impacts observed are cognitive (e.g., critical information assessment skills), affective (e.g., increased self-confidence), and behavioral (e.g., active participation in digital society). Differences across populations were noted: advocacy for adolescents primarily focuses on technology adaptation for an adaptive identity, while advocacy for adults and vulnerable groups emphasizes privacy protection and health access for a resilient identity. Conclusion: The conclusion indicates that information access advocacy by libraries contributes significantly to the formation of an empowered information identity. This study includes recommendations for the development of age-specific programs to address the digital divide and promote social equity in the information society.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology in the digital era has given rise to the phenomenon of information overload, a condition in which the volume of information received by individuals exceeds their cognitive capacity to process, comprehend, and evaluate it effectively. Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, represents the most vulnerable group to this phenomenon due to their high intensity of digital media and social media use in daily life. This study aimed to examine the phenomenon of information overload, the digital information consumption patterns of Generation Z, and the digital literacy challenges they face in navigating the digital information landscape. A descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method was employed, drawing on scientific journal articles, academic books, and online scholarly sources retrieved from Google Scholar, Garuda, and national electronic journals. The findings reveal that information overload negatively affects the cognitive abilities, academic performance, and mental health of Generation Z. The digital literacy challenges faced are multidimensional, encompassing cognitive challenges related to limited critical thinking skills, algorithmic challenges involving filter bubbles and echo chambers, and ethical challenges concerning the spread of unverified information. Addressing information overload requires enhanced digital literacy, responsible use of social media, and the strengthening of critical thinking skills in evaluating digital information sources. Digital literacy emerges as a key competency that encompasses not only technical skills but also analytical abilities, source evaluation, digital ethics, and metacognitive awareness in consuming and disseminating information.

Abstract

Internship administration at Universitas Muria Kudus remains constrained by manual attendance records, physical logbooks, limited progress monitoring, and the absence of location-based validation. This study developed and evaluated a web-based internship information system integrating geolocation and geofencing to support attendance control and multi-actor academic workflows. The system was implemented using the PHP Laravel framework and MySQL database following the Waterfall model. Its core functions include geofencing-based check-in, digital logbook submission and verification, early warning monitoring, partner classification, assessment, and administrative reporting. Functional validation showed that the geofencing module produced the expected responses for locations inside, on, and outside the configured boundary, as well as when location access was unavailable or inaccurate. Black Box Testing confirmed that all six tested functions operated according to their specified requirements. Performance testing across five trials per process produced mean response times ranging from 1.76 to 3.14 seconds. The system provides an integrated foundation for structured, location-aware internship management in higher education.

Abstract

Purpose — This paper seeks to explore how meaning, power, and information are constructed within accounting information systems (AIS) through a postmodern reading of organizational culture, particularly in conditions of organizational uncertainty. Design/methodology/approach — This study adopts a qualitative approach using a single case study in a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) operating in Indonesia’s logistics sector. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving five purposively selected informants engaged in inventory management and AIS usage. The analysis employs an interpretive thematic approach using a Foucauldian Discourse Analysis framework. Findings — The findings indicate that AIS operates as a discursive arena where meaning is constructed and power relations are reproduced through reporting practices, control mechanisms, and information legitimation. A culture of uncertainty avoidance encourages organizational actors to position AIS as a dominant source of truth, leading decision-making to prioritize stability and certainty over flexibility. Practical implications — The implementation of AIS should not be viewed solely as a technical system but must consider cultural and power dynamics within organizations. A critical and reflective approach is necessary to ensure that AIS supports not only efficiency but also equitable and context-sensitive decision-making. Originality/value — This paper contributes to the literature by providing a postmodern perspective on AIS within the context of a state-owned enterprise in a developing economy, highlighting how organizational culture and power relations shape system use and meaning construction
