Abstract

Prostate cancer is a noncutaneous malignancy in men, a heterogeneous disease with varying clinical outcomes. The modern clinical approach to prostate cancer emphasizes the need for treatment to avoid overdiagnosis and overtreatment. Advances in understanding of the pathogenesis of prostate cancer, coupled with technological innovations, have facilitated the development and validation of a number of molecular biomarkers, representing a variety of tested macromolecules from a wide variety of patient samples, to aid clinical management of prostate cancer, including early detection, diagnosis, prognostication, and selection. targeted therapy. Prostate cancer is asymptomatic in the early stages of the disease, there are various clinical-pathological signs and disease progression, and is characterized mostly by indolent cancer types. Therefore, it is imperative to develop individualized approaches for early detection, disease stratification (indolent vs. aggressive) and prediction of treatment response for prostate cancer. This article is a review article in which researchers review the current state of use of genomic biomarkers for early detection of prostate cancer, demonstrating the function of molecular biomarkers in clinical practice. The result of this review article is that the available genomic and proteomic tests can increase the predictive value of the PCa risk classification system based on clinical variables.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy disorder with hypertension as one of its common symptoms. Preeclampsia in pregnancy is characterized by increasing of proteinuria, blood pressure and also interleukin 6. Spirulina sp is a thread like shaped blue-green algae, similar to chain of cylindrical cells with 1 to 12 μm diameter of cell membrane. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of spirulina on VEGF level in improving of trophoblast function in pregnant white Rats Wistar. The design of the study was laboratory experimental with post-test only control group design. Twenty-five rats with preeclampsia model induced by interleukin 6, were divided into 5 groups. The groups were control group, positive control group (P0) injected by interleukin-6 dose of 5 ng/ 100 gram body weight (BW), group with spirulina dose of 10 mg/100 gram BW (P1), group with spirulina dose of 20 mg/100 gram BW (P2); and group with spirulina dosage 40 mg/100 gram BW (P3). The Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels were in experimental groups measured compared to control. The averages of group spirulina were 81.31 (10 mg/100 gram BW), 65.99 (20 mg/100 gram BW), and 49.62 (40 mg/100 gram BW). In comparison with control group (62.70), VEGF level in group administered by spirulina dose of 20 mg/100 gram BW were close to control group.

Abstract

Superficial dermatomycosis is a fungal infection of the skin, nail and hair. Based on the pathogen, this infection can be divided into dermatophytosis, phytiriasis versicolor and candidiasis. The rapid diagnosis for this infection is the key point to deliver the right theraphy. The supporting investigation for this infection can be performed directly using KOH. The KOH 20% solution has an indistict color contrast, that cause the fungal element seemed transparent. The observant expertise would be required for this case. The alternative method to enhance sensitivity and specificity of KOH is to add dyes such as Blue Black parker ink. The objectives of this research was to observe the sensitivity and specificity of KOH 20% + blue black parker ink in comparisson with KOH 20% method in superficial dermatomycosis. The research method was cross sectional design analitical obsevation with 30 research subjects. The samples were taken from superficial dermatomycosis lesion swabs. These samples were tested using KOH 20% solution and KOH 20% + blue black parker ink solution in Siti Khodijah Muhammadiyah Hospital, Sepanjang and dr. Makmuri Clinics, Surabaya. The results demonstrated that the sensitivity of KOH 20% solution and KOH 20% + blue black parker ink solution were 86.67% and 93.33%, respectively. The specificity of KOH 20% solution and KOH 20% + blue black parker ink solution were 100% and 100%, respectively. It can be concluded from the research that KOH 20% + blue black parker ink solution can be used for the routine diagnosis for superficial dermatomycosis due to the high sensitivity and specificity.

Abstract

The prevalence of infectious diseases in Indonesia is still relatively high, for example Infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Indonesia has many traditional plants that can be used for herbal treatments containing tannins, flavonoids, and essential oils which have relatively high antibacterial activity by forming inhibitory zones in the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria which are the cause of skin infections food poisoning to systemic infections. Thereforekencur can be used as an alternative medicine. This study was intented to determine the effect of giving kencur extract (Kaempferia galanga L.) In inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This study was experimental laboratory used plate diffusion method of “Postest Ony Control Group Design” design. There were 7 groups, 5 treatment groups and 2 control groups. The concentration of treatment group was 100%, 50%, 25%, 12,5%, 6,25% while for positive control using amoxicillin 25μg and aquadest as negative control. Abstract

Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) is a clinical syndrome characterized by the presence of the complete flaksid that occurs in acute. GBS associated with autoimmune reaction that affect peripheral nerve, radix, and cranial nerve. The incidence of GBS is 1 – 2 per 100,000 people/year. The incident was followed by increased age and the increasing population of obstetrics. GBS in pregnancy ranged from 13% in the first trimester, 47% in the second trimester, and 40% in the third trimester. In this case report reported Mrs. M 27 years old with a diagnosis of G2P1A0 h. 39-40 weeks + insimanation + living single fetal Presentation Head + Inpartu kala II + GBS + Failed + Vacuum Severily Underweight (BMI = 17) + TBJ 3000 Gr. Diagnosis of GBS are enforced based on anamnesis, physical examination and complementary examinations. From a previous illness history found anamnesis the weakness of limbs beginning in 2016. A history of the use of breathing apparatus and admitted tot the ICU in the first pregnancy. Mrs. M had a history of infections before being diagnosed with GBS. On this second pregnancy patients cannot move lower extremity but upper extermity is still functioning. Physical examination result of mothers and babies in the normal range even though found in conditions of severily BMI underweight. The patient finally decided to SC (section caesaria) and applied the IUD intracaesarean GBS in pregnancy is a coincidental. GBS is rarely aggravate pregnancy, but if not quickly identified and handled can enhance the high morbidity in both mother and fetus. In acute attacks (AIDP) in pregnant women with GBS increase stress on the mother or the fetus. The stress that occurs can also stimulate the immune system to produce prostaglandins, resulting in premature birth. Patients can give birth when the gestational age is still 7 months. It was different in the second pregnancy in this case where the patient was diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculopathy (CIDP) so that GBS did not affect the mother and the fetus.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the major health problems in the world and Indonesia. The prevalence is more increasing and also shows the trend of events is shifting to young age. Diabetes mellitus treatment requires high costs and also a lifetime. Most of the people of Indonesia still use traditional methods of treatment, especially herbs from various biological substances that are available in the environment. Undur-undur (myrmeleon sp.) is believed to have the effect of anti-hyperglycemia, and also anti-viscosity. The aim of this study was to determine anti-hyperglycemia and anti-viscosity of myrmeleon sp. extract in diabetic rats. The design of study is randomized experiment. Diabetic rats were induced by streptozocin 100mg/ kg BW intraperitoneal. Fifty rats were divided into 2 groups administered by Myrmeleon sp. extract dose 0,01ml/ 200 gram BW (100%) and 0,005ml/ 200 gram BW (50%). Myrmeleon sp. shows the effect of anti-hyperglycemic and anti-viscosity in diabetic rats. There was a difference between 50% and 100% doses. The effect of anti-hyperglycemia and anti-viscosity occurs after the second day. Conclusion: the extract of myrmeleon sp. could be considered as one of the traditional treatments of diabetic patients.

Abstract

Indomethacin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that act to inhibit COX-1. The inhibition of COX-1 leads to inhibition of prostaglandin production. Prostaglandin is a regulator of gastric acid buffer secretion. Inhibition of prostaglandin decrease gastric and duodenum pH and damage the gastric and duodenum. Sea grapes (Caulerpa racemose var. cylindracea) are marcoalgae that contain flavonoids as antioxidants and anti-inflammatory. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of sea grapes on gastric and duodenum pH in rattus norvegicus induced by indomethacin. 32 male Rattus norvegicus were divided into 4 groups. Group K (-) without treatment. Group K (+) was induced by 30 mg/Kg BW indomethacin for 7 days. Group P1 was induced by 30mg/Kg BW indomethacin for 7 days followed by administration of 1g/100g BW sea grape extract for 14 days. Group P2 was induced by 30mg/Kg BW indomethacin for 7 days followed by administration of 2g/100g BW sea grape extract for 14 days. On the 29th day, rats were terminated, gastric and duodenal were isolated then the fluid pH was measured. One-way Anova test obtained p = 0,023. Post hoc test pH Gaster significantly different between group K (-) and K (+) (p= 0,005) and between group K (-) with P2 (p= 0,020). While in group K (+) with P1 and P2 there was no significant difference in pH.  Post hoc test of pH duodenum showed no differences in all group. The administration of sea grape extract did not show a differences of the gastric and duodenal pH significantly between rats induced by indomethacin.

Abstract

Research on pregnancies with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) infected with COVID-19 is very limited. In pregnant conditions, there is a shift from Th1 to Th2 and physiological changes that make it very susceptible to being infected by COVID-19 in pregnancy, in addition to complaints that are similar between changes due to pregnancy and symptoms of COVID-19. The aim of this study was to Explain the effect of COVID-19 infection in pregnant women with IDDM. This study was conducted using a descriptive method of clinical and laboratory examination results of one pregnant patient aged 26 years with IDDM and infected with COVID-19 at the Trosobo Health Center. The variables in this study were the results of clinical and laboratory examinations of patients during treatment. All data were then analyzed descriptively according to the latest journal literature. Result of this study showed that Pregnant women with IDDM and infected with COVID-19 might have disorders of the lung organs in the form of pneumonia on X-rays, disturbances in laboratory test and minor clinical disorders. In addition, it is important to note that the presence of heart problems as indicated by disturbances in the rhythm of the post partum ECG. COVID-19 infection in pregnant women with IDDM can show mild or severe symptoms such as heart problems and further research is needed on the effect of this infection with a larger sample.
