Hiperkolesterolemia merupakan faktor resiko terjadinya gangguan kardiovaskuler pada diabetes mellitus. Pada diabetes mellitus kekurangan insulin meningkatkan lipolisis sehingga asam lemak bebas meningkat sehingga meningkatan kadar kolesterol total dan kolesterol LDL. Tomat mengandung likopen yang dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol LDL karena mampu menghambat HMG-KoA reduktase. Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian jus tomat (Solanum lycopersicum L.) terhadap kadar kolesterol total dan LDL tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) jantan galur wistar yang diinduksi aloksan. 24 ekor yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok: 1). Kelompok kontrol negatif tanpa perlakuan 2). Kelompok kontrol positif hewan coba yang diinduksi aloksan 3). Kelompok perlakuan yang diinduksi aloksan dan diberi jus tomat dengan dosis 11 gram/KgBB selama 14 hari. Uji One-Way Annova menunjukkan peningkatan kadar kolesterol LDL yang signifikan antara kelompok kontrol positif dan kelompok hewan kontrol negatifnamun tidak pada kadar total kolesterol. Rerata kadar total kolesterol dan LDL pada kelompok perlakuan menunjukkan penurunan yang tidak signifikan di bandingkan kelompok hewan coba yang diinduksi aloksan. Pemberian aloksan dengan dosis 150 mg/Kg BB dapat meningkatkan kadar kolesterol LDL secarabermakna namun tidak pada kadar total kolesterol. Pemberian jus tomat dengan dosis 11 gram/KgBB cenderung menurunkan rerata kadar total kolesterol dan LDL.

A high-fat diet can increase lipoprotein levels, total cholesterol, (Low Density Lipoprotein) LDL, and triglycerides. Starfruit has saponin and flavonoid compounds which are expected to reducing LDL cholesterol levels. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of starfruit juice on lowering the blood cholesterol LDL of Wistar rats fed with high-fat diet. Experimental study with post-test only control group design. As many as 24 male white rats from the Wistar strain were divided into 3 groups: negative control groups (K-) that were given standard feed for 28 days; positive control group (K+) who were given a high-fat diet for 28 days; the treatment group (KP) was given a high-fat diet for 28 days and on the 15th day 28th they were given a starfruit juice with a dose of 4ml / 200grBB / day. Day 29 measured LDL cholesterol. The statistic test showed a significant increase in LDL cholesterol levels (p=0.001) in the positive control group (x=12.125±2.642 mg/dL) compared to the negative control group (x=7.625±1.506 mg/dL). There was no significant different the mean cholesterol level of the treatment group (x=11±1.927) compared to the mean LDL cholesterol level of the positive control group (x=12.125±2.642). A high-fat diet significantly increases the mean LDL cholesterol level. Starfruit juice did not significantly reduce LDL cholesterol level.

ABSTRACT Background: A lot of food can repair gastric mucosal damage. For example, sea grapes or the Caulerpa cylindracea with its flavonoid content. Anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcer effect can reduce gastric lesions due to ulcerogenic agents. Indomethacin is used to induce gastric ulcers in experimental animals. Based on this background, this study was conducted to analyze the effect of Caulerpa cylindracea extract, on the histopathological picture of gastric mucosal damage of Rattus norvegicus male rats. Method: 32 male Rattus norvegicus rats were divided into 4 groups, (1) Group K(-), the untreated group, (2) Group K(+) induced by indomethacin 30mg/kgBB per head (3) Group P1 induced by indomethacin 30 mg/kgBB and Caulerpa cylindracea extract 1gr/100grBB per head, (4) Group P2, induced by indometacin 30mg/kgBB and 2gr/100grBB of Caulerpa cylindracea extract per head. Result: There was a significant difference (p = 0.001) between the degree of gastric mucosal damage in group K(+) given only indomethacin and group P1 given Indomethacin and 1gr/100grBB Caulerpa cylindracea extract. There was a significant difference (p = 0.001) between group K(+) and group P2 that given Indomethacin and 2g/100grBB Caulerpa cylindracea extract. There was a significant difference (p = 0.004) between group P1 and group P2. Data revealed on group K(-) without any treatment did not obtain significant results (p = 0.060) with group P2. Conclusion: Giving Caulerpa cylindracea extract with 1 gr/100grBB dose and 2gr/100grBB dose can repair mucosal damage in Rattus norvegicus male rats induced by indomethacin.

Background: Tomato juice is believed to affect triglyceride levels in the blood because it contains lycopene. This study aims to determine the effect of tomato juice (Solanum lycopersicum) on blood triglyceride levels in the wistar strain of male Rattus norvegicus induced by alloxan. Methods: 24 were divided into 3 groups, (1) Group K (-) experimental animals without treatment, (2) Group K (+) experimental animals induced by alloxan 150 mg / kgBB, (3) Treatment group K (P) animals tried alloxan induced 150 mg / kg and got 1.75 ml / head of tomato juice. Results: There was a significant difference in mean triglyceride levels between groups K (-) and group K (+). This indicates that the induction of alloxan increases blood triglyceride levels. There were significant differences in the mean triglyceride levels between the K (+) and K (P) groups because tomato juice contained lycopene which could reduce triglyceride synthesis. Conclusions: Tomato juice (solanum lycopersicum) reduced wistar strain male Rattus novergicus triglyceride levels induced by alloxan.

Objective: We aimed to investigate whether cold stress increased plasma and joint IL-1β and whether vitamin C quenched ROS and reduced increased IL-1β. Secondly whether there is any correlation between plasma and joint IL-1βlevel.Material and methods: Male adjuvant arthritic rats (age=10-12 weeks; n=8/group) were exposed to cold stress (5oC for 15 minutes/day for 7 days) with/without vitamin C (50 mg/day orally) and then kept for 14 days. The control group did not receive either cold exposure or vitamin C. Plasma IL-1βlevel was measured using indirect ELISA and joint IL-1β was measured using imunohistochemistry before treatment, day 0, 7, 14 after treatment.Result: Cold stress significantly increased plasma IL-1β level directly after cold stress (p=0.025), 14 days after cold stress (p=0.002). Cold stress significantly increased percentage area positive of joint IL-1β day 7 (p=0.001), day 14 (p=0.001). Compared to controls vitamin C significantly reduced plasma and joint IL-1β directly after cold stress, day 7, 14 after cold stress (p< 0.05). No significant correlation between plasma and joint IL-1β in all groups (p>0.05).Conclusion: Cold stress increased plasma and joint IL-1β and vitamin C reduced increased IL-1β possibly by reducing ROS production and NF-kB activation.

Hepar merupakan organ yang memiliki metabolisme yang kompleks. Saat hepar mengalami inflamasi, terjadi pertahanan oleh imunitas seluler yang merangsang sel-sel imun memproduksi reactive oxygen species (ROS). Penumpukan ROS yang berlebihan akan menyebabkan stres oksidatif dan ditandai dengan meningkatnya kadar malondialdehida (MDA) hepar. Beberapa penelitian menyebutkan ubi jalar ungu mengandung senyawa flavonoid (antosianin) yang dapat berperan sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh profilaksis ekstrak ubi jalar ungu terhadap kadar MDA hepar tikus putih yang diinduksi karagenan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode post-test only control group design dengan sampel 18 tikus putih jantan galur Wistar yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok: kelompok hewan coba tanpa perlakuan, kelompok hewan coba yang diinduksi karagenan 1% dosis 0,1 ml secara intraplantar pada hari ke-8, dan kelompok hewan coba yang diberi ekstrak ubi jalar ungu dosis 872 mg/kgBB selama 7 hari dan diinduksi karagenan. Pada akhir penelitian dilakukan pengukuran kadar MDA hepar dengan metode Thio-Barbituric Acid pada masing-masing kelompok. Hasil uji One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna (p = 0,290) kadar MDA hepar antara kelompok tanpa perlakuan (x̅ = 207,50 nmol/g) dengan kelompok yang diinduksi karagenan (x̅ = 233,17 nmol/g). Selanjutnya tidak terdapat perbedaan bermakna (p = 0.978) kadar MDA hepar antara kelompok yang diinduksi karagenan dengan kelompok yang diberi profilaksis ekstrak ubi jalar ungu dan diinduksi karagenan (x̅ = 232,50 nmol/g). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pemberian injeksi karagenan secara intraplantar dapat meningkatkan kadar MDA hepar secara tidak bermakna dan pemberian profilaksis ekstrak ubi jalar ungu dapat menurunkan secara tidak bermakna kadar MDA hepar tikus putih yang diinduksi karagenan karena mengandung antosianin yang berfungsi sebagai antioksidan.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition due to insufficient amount of insulin produced by the pancreas. This condition can cause dyslipidemia. This study aimed to observe the effect of catfish (Pangasius sp) fish oil extract on HDL cholesterol level in male white rat (Rattus norvegicus) with alloxan-induced diabetes model. Alloxan was used to create diabetic conditions in the rats and the administration of catfish oil extract which contain omega-3 was expected to increase HDL cholesterol level. This is an experimental laboratory study carried out in the Biochemistry Laboratory Hang Tuah Medical Faculty from the beginning of May 2021 to the end of December 2021. Twenty seven male white rats selected based on the simple random sampling method divided into 3 groups: the negative control group with standard feeding and PDAM drinking water, the positive control group induced by alloxan 150 mg/kgBW, and the treatment group induced by alloxan 150 mg/kgBW and 3 days later given catfish (Pangasius sp) fish oil extract 73 mg/kgBW for 14 days. At the end of the study HDL cholesterol levels were measured in all sample. Data analysis showed lower HDL cholesterol levels in the positive control group (mean=20.78 mg/dl) than in the negative control group (mean=31.00 mg/dl) significantly (p = 0.004) and higher HDL cholesterol levels in the treatment group (mean=27.00 mg/dl) than in the positive control group (mean=20.78 mg/dl) athough the increase was not significant (p = 0.91). Conclusion of this study: the administration of catfish fish oil extract (Pangasius sp) dose of 73 mg/kgBW in alloxan induced male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) wistar strain increase HDL cholesterol levels although not significantly. AbstrakLatar Belakang : Kayu manis (Cinnamomun burmannii) mengandung flavonoid dan sinamaldehid yang berguna sebagai antioksidan dan bersifat renal protektor. Parasetamol berguna sebagai antipiretik dan analgesik. Parasetamol dimetabolisme oleh sitokrom P450 di sel hepar membentuk glukoronida, sulfat, dan NAPQI. NAPQI merupakan hasil metabolit yang sangat reaktif dan mengakibatkan stres oksidatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk engetahui efek pemberian ekstrak kayu manis yang dapat mencegah kerusakan sel tubulus ginjal tikus putih jantan yang diinduksi parasetamol.Metode : 30 ekor tikus yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok; (1) kelompok kontrol negatif tanpa perlakuan, (2) kelompok kontrol positif yang diinduksi parasetamol dosis tunggal 1750 mg/kgBB pada hari ke 14, (3) kelompok perlakuan yang diberi ekstrak kayu manis dosis 400 mg/kgBB selama 14 hari lalu diinduksi parasetamol dosis tunggal 1750 mg/kgBB pada hari ke 14. Pada hari ke 17 hewan coba dikorbankan, dilakukan pengambilan ginjal dan dipemeriksa secara mikroskopik. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic hyperglycemic syndrome that can be accompanied by lipid metabolism disorders. Alloxan is a diabetogenic agent that is associated with an increase in LDL cholesterol levels. Patin fish contain omega-3 and oleic acid, which can potentially reduce or control LDL cholesterol levels. This study aims to determine the effect of Patin fish (Pangasius hypothalmus) oil extract on LDL cholesterol levels of alloxan-induced Rattus norvegicus. The method of this study is the post-test-only control group design. Twenty-seven experimental animals were divided into 3 groups; (1) the 1st group was without treatment, (2) 2nd group was induced with 150 mg/kg BW alloxan on the 7th day; (3) 3rd group was induced with 150 mg/kg BW alloxan on the 7th day and given the Patin fish oil extract at a dose of 73 mg/kg BW on the 10th day for 14 days.
