Abstract

This research was motivated by the problems that the researchers found in SKh Idaman Hati Tangerang City, namely in children with intellectual disabilities in class V in learning the introduction of numbers 1-5. This study aims to determine whether the use of matching box learning media has a significant effect in increasing the ability to recognize numbers at the stage of mentioning numbers 1-5 children with intellectual disabilities. The type of research used is experimental research with Single Subject Research. Data collection techniques used, namely observation, documentation, and instruments. Subjects involved in this study amounted to 1 child. The results showed that the ability to mention numbers 1-5 children with intellectual disabilities got an average percentage or mean level from the baseline-1 phase (A1), intervention (B), and baseline-2 phase (A2), namely 47%, 97.75% , and 87%. The data shows that children with intellectual disabilities experienced an increase in the percentage after receiving intervention through media matching boxes, so it can be concluded that the use of media matching boxes has an effect on increasing the ability to recognize numbers 1-5 in children with intellectual disabilities in class V at SKh Idaman Hati, Tangerang City

The Corona virus pandemic has forced the Indonesian people to adapt their lifestyle by conducting online transactions. Changes in people's lifestyles have an impact on increasing the use of plastic waste , so as not to cause pollution due to the burning of plastic waste that causes carcinogens, must find a solution by managing it from the source. The objective of Community Service activities is To increase knowledge and skills of children with special needs in sorting waste, determining selling prices, recording customer data, transactions with waste collector, recording in savings borrowing and saving mechanisms in the implementation of waste banks based. This activity was carried out using the one shoot case study method, respondents were given an intervention to know computers, recognize selling waste, record transactions digitally, then given a test. The results of the activity show that children with hearing impairments are able to follow and recognize computers, only recording using the excel program still requires further assistance. Knowledge related to types and selling prices to waste collector requires mentoring from teachers. The conclusion is that the waste bank is an alternative to build ecopreneurs and environmental awareness for children with special needs.

Abstract

Teaching reading functional vocabulary to students with intellectual disability (ID’s) is a challenge for teachers in special schools. They face many obstacles in teaching vocabulary which are caused by various factors, especially student characteristics and learning structures that are less practical and tend to be academic. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of using word cards and picture cards to improve vocabulary reading skills in moderate ID’s students. The type of research applied is single subject research, with multiple baseline across subject designs. The research subjects were two moderately ID’s students in grade 5 and grade 2 SLB-C1 Bhakti Luhur Malang. An instructor and an observer played an important role in this study. The experimental instrument used is Lesson Plan which consists of three units, each teaching two vocabularies. Data analysis is carried out by performing graphical inspections that focus on trend, latency, and level changes. The effectiveness was confirmed by Percentage of All Non-overlapping Data (PAND) in the intervention condition against the baseline-1 condition. The results showed that with the intervention, the target behavior in the form of vocabulary understanding had a trend of grades rising gradually touching a high level of score, and settling at a high level in the baseline-2 condition. The average PAND for subject-1 reached 80.55% (effective), and subject-2 reached 96.67% (very effective)

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the "6 - step hand washing" video media to improve the ability to wash hands properly in children with intellectual disability. A student in grade 7th with mild intelectual disability participated in this A1 – B1 – A2 single subject study design. Subject obtained the mean level increased from 30.67 in the phase baseline – 1 (A1) to 54.5 in the intervention phase (B) and 59.33 in the phase baseline – 2 (A2). Changes in the data level experienced an increase in the score, namely from the phase baseline – 1 (A1) to the intervention phase (B) is increased by +18, while in the intervention phase (B) to the phase baseline – 2 (A2) is increased by +2. Data overlap in an analysis of the condition of 0%, which means the video media "hand washing 6 steps" to improve the ability to effectively wash hands properly on the child intellectual disability mild category. There is a need to replicate the study design to increase the external validity and generalization results. The strategies described in the present study may also be useful for special teachers who teach individual with intellectual disability to gain a proper hand washing skills in various context (e.g., home, schools, and public areas). Keywords: video, hand washing, children with intellectual disability

Abstract

Children with low academic achievement are one of the problems that are often found in schools but, in general, children with this condition often cannot be identified by teachers. Whereas the success of educational services for children with low academic achievement is determined by the ability of teachers to identify children. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the teacher's ability to identify children with low academic achievement in schools providing inclusive education. This quantitative descriptive research was conducted at 4 elementary schools in Banjarmasin City and Banjar Regency with the number of research subjects on 28 classroom teachers. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and interviews and then analyzed quantitatively descriptively. The results showed that the teacher's ability to identify children with low academic achievement with an average of 33.33% both in screening, referral, and classification functions. At the stage of screening, the process carried out is still incomplete, because identification is carried out only using identification instruments, simple tests, and inadequate supporting documents (Family Cards (KK), birth certificates, children's data). Most of the teachers have not observed children's abilities, interviewed , and completed IQ test results. At the referral stage, the teacher has not collaborated with professional staff. Most students with low academic achievement are classified by teachers as slow learners, without knowing their IQ scores. The teachers with lack of ability to understand the process of identifying children with special needs will determine the handling of children with special needs in schools providing inclusive education.
