Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the correlation between meaningful work on job crafting with work engagement mediators. The inconsistency of results in several previous studies is why this research is being conducted. The type of research used is correlational quantitative with survey methods. This study uses three measurement tools: the Work as Meaning Inventory to measure meaningful work, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale to measure work engagement, and the Job Crafting Scale. The form of research analysis uses Rasch Model analysis and Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling. Data obtained from 107 employees with minimum age criteria of 18 years, who have worked for at least three months, and are active employees in the formal sector, specifically in private companies, show that indirectly effect there is a significant correlation (p less than or equal to 0.001) on meaningful work towards job crafting through work engagement. The results of this study mean that employees who can interpret their work are supported by a totality level of enthusiasm for work so that they can design their work with their proactive strategy. Suggestions for future research are to explore the scope of research participants in state-owned companies to obtain research results with a more comprehensive picture.

Abstract

One of the consequences felt by the world of education from the outbreak of the Coronavirus is that higher education institutions are required to apply online learning methods. Online learning itself has strengths, challenges, and obstacles in its implementation. Therefore, students need the ability to overcome the obstacles and challenges that are felt in the daily online learning process, namely academy buoyancy. This research seeks to find the role of the growth mindset and grit in academic buoyancy in college students who face online lectures. This research involved 140 students who were in their first year when this research was conducted (class of 2021). The results of hypothesis testing using multiple regression analysis showed an F value equal to 19.597 with a p-value equal to 0.000 (p less than 0.5). These results indicate that the hypothesis in this study is accepted, that the growth mindset and grit have a role in academic buoyancy among students who are studying online. The results of further calculations show that the role of the growth mindset and grit on academic buoyancy is 22.2 percent (R2 equals 0.222).

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between resilience and work stress in teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Lumajang. The research design used in this study is descriptive correlational. The respondents of this study were 55 teachers who taught at SMA Negeri 2 Lumajang. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The research instrument used is the resilience scale and work stress scale. The resilience scale consists of 39 items with reliability of 0.957, and the work stress scale consists of 57 items with reliability of 0.977. Research data were analyzed using descriptive techniques and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis. The results showed a negative and significant relationship between resilience and work stress for teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Lumajang (rxy equal to -0.654; p equal to 0.000 less than 0.05). This result can be interpreted that if the resilience is high, the work stress is low, and vice versa; if the resilience is low, the work stress is high.

Abstract

Overseas students experience various new problems in the overseas environment. The problems experienced can be from loneliness to difficulty adapting. This research aimed to determine the differences in subjective well-being between overseas and local students based on age group, gender, and coping strategies used by overseas students at the State University of Malang. The research method used is a mixed method consisting of comparative quantitative methods with 54 respondents and phenomenological qualitative methods with four respondents. The instruments used are the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), with a reliability value of .948 and validity ranging from .903 to .975, and the Positive Affect Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) scale, with a reliability value of .889 for positive affect and .905 for negative affect and has validity ranging from .445 to .838 for positive affect and .646 to .838 for negative affect. The results of the analysis show that there is no significant difference in subjective well-being between overseas students and local students (p equal to .272), and there is also no significant difference in terms of gender (p equal to .626) or age. Furthermore, the coping strategy used by overseas students to overcome their problems is to do their favorite activities and gather with their friends. The findings support that other factors can affect overseas students’ subjective well-being, including social support, social relationships, and technological developments.
