Abstract

Opening the Doors of Sustenance in the Perspective of the Qur’an This study aimed to reveal the meaning of the word ar-rizq alongside its variants in the Qur'an. Also, this study sought to know the doors of sustenance resting upon the signs in the Qur'an. This study used a thematic method (mawdhu'i) with the term and conceptual thematic model in order to reveal the doors of sustenance from the Qur’anic verses associated with the term ar-rizq. The primary data of this study were the Qur’anic data, namely the Qur’anic verses closely associated with the word ar-rizq in the form of clauses, phrases, and words. Meanwhile, the secondary data were in the form of notions, ideas, and interpretations of the interpreters. The results of this study indicated that the word ar-rizq with its variants is repeated 123 times in the Qur'an, namely 61 times in the form of fi'il and 62 times in the form of isim, which are scattered in 41 Surahs in the Qur'an. The meaning of ar-rizq is all gifts from Allah to all His creatures. Subsequently, the doors of sustenance based on the Qur’anic signs include: guaranteed sustenance, sustenance earned through efforts, sustenance due to istighfar, sustenance due to gratitude to Allah, sustenance for giving alms, and sustenance for devotion to Allah.

Abstract

The Tendency of ‘Aisyah  R.A  in the Istinbȃth of Ahkȃm HadithsAisyah binti Abu Bakar r.a., was not only known as the wife of the Prophet PBUH, but also recognized as an intelligent female companion who narrated many hadiths and issued legal fatwas. Her fatwas were not infrequently different from other companions of the Prophet. The focus of this research object was the hadiths of ahkâm contained in several fatwas of Aisyah r.a. The purpose of this research was to reveal the tendency of the istinbâth of Aisyah r.a in analyzing the ahkâm hadiths. This research was qualitative descriptive, using the analytical methods of istinbâth theory and fiqh al-hadîs. The conclusion of this research extended to: first, that Aisyah not only witnessed many of the Prophet's traditions, but also tended to be critical and rational in understanding them. Second, between critical and rational attitudes could be seen in the use of semantic analysis of the meaning of a lafazh, historical and contextual, in the sense of social situations and conditions underlying the emergence of a hadith of the Prophet, or changes in social conditions that occurred at that time. Abstract

The Popular Hadith Concerning Knowledge and its Relevance to the Problems of Islamic EducationComprehensive studies on hadiths in terms of sanad, matan, and sharah should be done in order to get a good understanding. This article aims to explain comprehensively a popular hadith as regards the command to study. The takhrij method is used to find the qualities of sanad and matan. Furthermore, it gives sharah on the hadiths especially in the term "ilmu" (knowledge) from the hadith scholars. This article finds that there are variations in explaining the quality of sanad and matan of that hadith. However, in general, the quality of sanad is declared dha'if, and the substance of the matan is declared sahih. Hadith scholars have no problem regarding the law of the dha'if hadith for fadah'il al-'a'mal. Then, the meanings of the word “ilmu” uttered by the scholars are also diverse and have an open character. The diversity of meanings is influenced by the scholars’ different backgrounds. This shows that the meanings of “ilmu” can still develop according to the context of the era. With sharah as such, it can further contribute to addressing the problems of Islamic education in the development of science. Islamic education should act openly and inclusively to carry out scientific studies. Also, it is no longer essential to dichotomize or narrow the meanings of “ilmu”

Abstract

The Qur’anic Semantic Analysis of Encyclopedic Model: Critics to Semantic Model of Toshihiko IzutsuThis research attempts to build a new model of semantic analysis to the Qur’anic text, which is called encyclopedic semantics. This research contributes to the improvement of Qur’anic semantic analysis of Izutsu and as an alternative model. This article employs a qualitative method and research and development (R & D) with analytical descriptive to the data gathered. Analysis of the data consist of several steps, namely analyzing Izutsu’s model of Qur’anic semantics, identifying and verifying several limitations on Izutsu’s model, building a new design of Qur’anic semantics to perfection, and lastly, demonstrating the new model in the semantics applied to the Qur’anic text. This research shows that based on the laxity found in Izutsu’s model, this research creates a new model of semantics analysis to the Qur’an called encyclopedic semantics as an alternative model to the existing model from Izutsu. The semantics model of encyclopedic perfects the Izutsu model with significant differences. The semantics model of encyclopedic aims at rendering the meanings of the Qur’an from global to particular.  In contrast, the Izutsu model is to achieve meanings from particular to global. Besides, encyclopedic model of semantics is part of mawdlu’iy (thematic) method of interpreting the Qur’an. This model gains its legitimation from Islamic tradition. The sample of this model is shown in the application of the Qur’anic word maṭar.

Abstract

Women's Leadership: The Application of the Feminist Hermeneutic Interpretation Method of Amina WadudRevealing and also criticizing Amina Wadud's interpretation of feminist hermeneutics in the context of women's leadership in the public field of modern era is the aim of this article. To understanding God's messages contained in His words is certainly not easy and requires a special method that is popularly referred to as takwil and tafsir. On the other hand, the dynamics of human culture development are constantly evolving and almost unstoppable which will indirectly also affect the interpretation of the Qur'an. Many various methods of interpretation were introduced by scholars to explore their contents from classical methods to modern methods. Among the emerging modern methods is the hermeneutics feminism which was pioneered by Amina Wadud. According to him the classical interpretation model is no longer relevant to the modern context, especially in terms of addressing gender. Nearly the results of the classical interpretation are gender deviations and take side to male. Therefore, the interpretation of the Qur'an is expectedly just, and then the interpretation model should be adjusted to the modern context rather than looking at the past, especially with regard to the position of women. This paper will highlight this event using a socio-historical approach and content analysis. In addition, references related to the patterns of Islam integrity and culture will be used with a comparative pattern. The conclusion of this research is that Wadud based his interpretation method on the language, justice, and equality aspects. According to him,a woman can be a leader both in the domestic and public today. Wadud set his opinion based on the textual meaning consideration of the verse without considering the hadith explanation

Abstract

Iltifȃt Stylistic Feature in ‘Itȃb Verses and Their Influence on Qur’anic InterpretationThe grammatical shift in theQur’anic style, well-known by iltifat, indicates particular meanings so that the existence of this stylistic feature in verses can influence its interpretation. This paper, then, attempts to explore the influence further it makes by examining verses that contain reprimands (‘itab) in the Qur’an, verses of reprimand that use iltifat or not.The purpose of this study is to determine the extent of iltifat’s influence in the interpretation of the reprimand verses, namely in surah ‘Abasa (80) verses 1-11, compared with other reprimand verses that do not use the iltifat style. This study, then, applies a linguistic interpretation (al-tafsir al-lughawi) approach that analyzes verses based on the meaning of words, word order, and rhetorical aspects. This paper argues that the existence of the iltifat style in the reprimand verses refers to courtesy and exaltation. A sense of gentleness in fostering and educating is found as the influence of iltifat style on these verses

Abstract

Instructional Methods and Curriculum of Darus Sunnah as an International Hadith InstitutionThis paper delves into "Darus Sunnah as an International Hadith Institution.” This research was conducted to prove that Darus Sunnah is an Islamic boarding schoolexisting at the international level.This research also showed that the educational program of Darus Sunnah used four methods, namely: mudhākarah, halaqah fajriyyah, munazhzhamah, and istijmām.The learning method applied in Darus Sunnah wasstudent-centered, wherein students were required to discuss actively with the mudarris as facilitators. The methods used in this Islamic boarding school dailycomprised: bandongan, sorogan, tahfizh of hadith, tahfizh of Qur’an, and tahfizh of yellow books. The students of Darus Sunnah were also directed to conduct a community service program (PPM) as an ideal of PPM model. This research proved that Darus Sunnah is an international hadith institution. This is proven by the following facts: 1. Darus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School has got a branch in Malaysia since 2012, located in al-Sakinah Eco Resort Kampung Janda Baik, Negeri Pahang, Malaysia. 2. Darus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School has sent dā'i to foreign countries, such as America and Malaysia. 3. The sending of students to Egypt is one proof that Darus Sunnah is an international boarding school. The program to send students to Egypt is in collaboration with the Lido Pesantren 4. Darus Sunnah Islamic boarding school also frequently receives international students especially students who study around Darus Sunnah Islamic boarding school

Abstract

This study applied a library research to explore and understand in-depth information as regards the essence of al-rahmah in Qur’anic verses as well as to integrate the concepts of al-rahmah with educational psychology concepts using a normative qualitative approach by analyzing the meanings of al-rahmah repeated 338 times in the Qur'an. The present study made efforts to find new concepts, especially on ideal educators’ personalities. Very contrary to the conclusion drawn by Amaechi stating that Islam provides both the ideological framework and the network platform upon which violent elements develop, the current study concluded that educators who have the characteristics of al-rahmah are those who have three religious personalities such as rabbany, nabawy, and insany that are bound by a strong belief in the power of Allah, observe the Islamic law well, and are fully aware that Allah always oversees their activities. With the aforesaid personalities, good educators are also associated with having high spirituality and religiosity (fearing of Allah and having noble characters), having good competences, extensive knowledge as well as being intelligent, being future-oriented, communicative (conveying knowledge with patience, sincerity, and with understandable methods), open to critic, authoritative, fair, non-discriminatory, and pleasant, and having polite speech

Abstract

Hadiths Related to Usury (Riba) and Their Use in the Banking SystemHadith is the second source used in the making of legal decision based on Islamic law (istinbath). This paper examines the hadiths related to the issue of usury (riba) from the sanad and matan. The type of the research is thematic, and the approach used is sanad and matan criticism to see the degree of sanad and matan of a hadith so that it can or cannot be used as hujjah (evidence) in the making of legal decision (istinbath). The hadiths regarding the issue of usury found are then selected, and there are four hadiths considered to meet the criteria and representation from a number of the hadiths found. The selection of these hadiths is based on the similarities of the matan although the sanad is different. From the sanad, of the four hadiths, there are only two hadiths examined. From the matan, the overall four hadiths are examined because one hadith and another almost have the same matan. Then, this research develops a study on the contemporary Islamic law issues related to usury issues such as insurance and bank interest even though the hadiths studied and utilized as the focus of this research do not explain the form of a ribawi transaction. In this paper, it is found that the hadiths that discuss the issue of usury are sahih (authentic) from both sanad and matan, so they can be used as a legal basis

Abstract

Teaching Prayers to Early Children in the Covid-19 Social Distancing Period – the Perspective of HadithsTeaching prayers to children is parents’ and educators’ obligation that must be done as early as possible. By teaching prayers since an early age, it is hoped that children can develop optimally in terms of physical, spiritual, and intellectual aspects, so that they grow into a generation with character. With the current outbreak of Covid-19, the education and teaching processesare experiencing a number of obstacles because children cannot interact directly with people other than their parents. This article aimed to describe how to teach prayers to early children based on the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad’s hadiths, especially during the social distancing period of Covid-19. The research in this article used a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach taken from a variety of document data and in-depth observations. The research revealed that teaching prayers to early children based on the Prophet Muhammad’s hadithsdeployed exemplary methods, habituation, advice, attention and monitoring, and punishment. Last but not least, parents and educators also provided educational materials such as religious, social, physical, moral and intellectual education
